Nikkid21 and ProfYaffle - I agree with both your recent posts. Before I had DS I was a healthy weight for years, I knew what I had to eat to keep my weight down e.g. I'd have a tomato rather than cream sauce on pasta, didn't eat puddings every day etc and I exercised mainly by walking.

I put on loads when I was pregnant, but also lost it quite easily as DS wouldn't sleep unless I was pushing him around and I didn't have time to eat. However since then I have lost and then gained a stone every year. I do SW or WW for a few months, lose a stone and then put it all back on again the minute I tell myself I'm 'no longer on a diet' therefore licence to pig out.

I also think that SW EE is a natural sensible way to eat and I really hope I can stick with this.

ProfYaffle · 22/04/2009 10:16

Totally sympathise apple. Before dc when I worked I used to always have jacket spud and salad at work for lunch, always used the stairs (I worked on 7th floor). Once I got pg it was the lift and quiche and chips followed by cake at lunchtime. Then when I remembered how nice chips and cake are it was really hard to resist!

Plus with a baby it's so easy to pop out for 'a coffee' in the afternoons just to get out of the house, then it turns into coffee and cake and then it's a habit ....

Did anyone see The Hospital last night? All about obese teens and what the nhs does to help. Prior to the surgical route, they get referred to a dietician for a 45 mins appointment once every 6 weeks, woefully inadequate imho. Would be easier/cheaper to pay for them all to join sw.

I find that the more I eat junk the more I crave it. Made the mistake of having a chunk of chocolate in work something I don't normally fancy but have been craving it ever since!

I put on over 4 stone after a major operation 2 years ago. My head was just too full to think about food as well, so spent many a meal having what was easy instead of what was healthy.

I've got a bit of stress going on in my life at the moment and I find it hard to remember to eat well. I either don't eat until i get so hungry and I'm too tired to cook or I eat loads and end up eating junk!

WOO HOO WI tonight and i lost 3 pound so back on the straight and narrow, makes up for a disatrous week last week.

Now this saturday im on an "all dayer" as in the whole family is going out for lunch for my aunts birthday and then theres a party in the evening, now do i just enjoy myself and have a very flexible syns day or do i be very good and eat low syn stuff, hmmm the decision!!!!

this weeks password is toast.

nikkid21 · 22/04/2009 19:22

well done jenk1.

In your position I would eat sensibly on Saturday but only so I could be very flexible syns with the wine/ gin allowance. However that may say more about how best to cope with an all dayer with my family than being good on sw

jenk1 · 22/04/2009 21:07

ah now if i didnt have the kids with me i def would hit the wine haha, but alas i will just have to eat the lovely a la carte lunch

AuntieMaggie · 22/04/2009 22:34

Soooo not looking forward to weigh in tomorrow. I feel really bloated. The only reason I can think of is my period is due this week but as I'm on the pill this doesn't normally happen!

I've been good this week so should have a loss. Really tempted to weigh myself tonight....

I'm going away at the weekend with a couple of girls so that's not going to be great for weight next week but hoping if I'm good food wise (as much as I can) that the booze won't make so much difference.

ProfYaffle · 23/04/2009 13:42

Well done Jenk, I'm , I'm really hoping my holiday gains drop off easily. I've been really good this week, have stuck to the plan really easily and had a couple of Success Express days and done a couple of long runs. Fingers crossed for WI at the weekend.

nikkid21 · 23/04/2009 13:50

WI this morning and 1/2 pound off. Not sirprised that it was a small loss as I was very bad the week before last and still lost 1/2 pound.

The nice weather is helping and i'm more disposed to eat ryvita and cottage cheese rather than cheese toasties.

AuntieMaggie · 23/04/2009 18:43

3 pounds...off! So pleased especially as I've had a shite day!

nikkid21 · 23/04/2009 18:46

well done AuntMaggie - you were dreading it as well!

ProfYaffle · 23/04/2009 19:00

Well done AM!

(Does anyone else see WI and read Womens Institute?)

jenk1 · 23/04/2009 19:26

well done Aunt maggie you must be pleased.

nikkid half a pound is half a pound still to be celebrated-well done

AuntieMaggie · 23/04/2009 19:39

Yes prof - everytime I see it!

Well done Nikki - I missed your post earlier

I'm confused - two weeks ago I felt thinner and put on weight today I feel fatter and have lost

applepudding · 23/04/2009 21:36

Well done everybody!!

Tillyboo · 23/04/2009 21:43

Hello, just started with Slimming World today as I need to lose roughly 16lbs.

Blimey seems a huge amount when you see it written down.

I would normally have Granola for brekkie with natural bio yog - is the granola still OK to have ? On both Green & Original ?

Any other tried and tested brekkie ideas would be great.

nikkid21 · 24/04/2009 08:20

Don't think that you can have granola on a healthy extra. The cereal portions are fairly small once you measure them out. If going for cereal I have 2 weetabix.

Most mornings I go for a mullerlight yog & some fruit as this is free and neutral so I can decide on having a red or green day at lunch. Eggs are a good neutral food for breakfast too.

Good luck on your weightloss

ProfYaffle · 24/04/2009 09:26

I have to admit Tillyboo, I stay away from cereal for breakfast as the portions are way too small for me!

Like Nikki I have fruit and a muller light before I set off for the school run, however, unlike Nikkie I have to have 2nd breakfast when I get back as the fruit fills me up for about 5 mins! I normally have fry light eggs on toast (HE B). I find this fills me up til about 1 or 2pm so I have a late lunch which sees me through to tea at 6pm. On the plus side this means I don't snack between meals at all.

Weighed myself today (slight cheat as a couple of days early) and I've lost 3lbs! That's the holiday weight plus one more - hoorah!

fuzzypeach, 2lbs isnt that bad, i put 5 on the other week just because i missed a class and was naughty, it will soon come off

if i was having the curry on a red day id have it with a big salad and maybe a jkt potato as a HE.

jenk1 · 26/04/2009 16:35

well im back from the "all dayer" and what a day it was

im afraid i didnt count syns and decided to enjoy myself and had:

Garlic Mushrooms in a cream and white wine sauce

Chicken Provencal,roast pots and veg

Banofee cream pie

coffee with cream.

spot the theme going on here haha.

erm im also afraid that i drank the equivalant of 2 bottles of wine over the whole day and night, and i fell over in my uncles flower beds my DH,sister and her DP found that most hilarious and havent stopped going on about it today while i feel terrible and very very .

but we all had a brilliant time,it was good catching up with the family and although it will no doubt show on the scales on weds im back on SW today.

have got a bit of a headache tho!!!

AuntieMaggie · 27/04/2009 18:33

Oh dear.... went away for the weekend and I hate to think how much weight I will have put on this week!

Sparkler · 28/04/2009 20:50

Hi guys! I went back to Slimming World just over a week ago (7th time of joining, how embarrassing is that?) - got weighed last night and have lost 2.5lb in my first week. Quite happy with that. Even with that couple of pounds (and a half!!!! ) off I feel so much healthier already. Eating healthier foods really makes me feel so much better in myself.
I've got just over two weeks before I'm being Matron of Honour at my sister's wedding so I'd like to get as much off as possible then but by no means is that the end of my weight loss journey. Got loads more to lose after that.
Just wondered if anyone could help me with this please?
