Good luck fuzzypeach!!

I am half way through reading the Paul McKenna book and used some of the skills he teaches today. I found that I was able to resist any junk food and only ate when I was hungry. I even left half my tea as I had become 'full' so I am feeling good and hoping for the best!

Ewe · 15/04/2009 21:53

Just made the Spinach and Ricotta pasta from this months Slimming World mag and it was deeelicious!

I suspect I will have gained this week, have eaten two easter eggs

I'm back from holiday. Had a horrible time food wise, was really determined to stick to the plan.

I thought it would be quite easy as we were self catering. I took all my SW equipment like Fry Light, vecon etc etc

But when we got there we were staying in a horrible chalet (we thought we'd booked a caravan) with a tiny, badly equiped kitchen. Worse, the site shop was awful, fresh veg? forget it, frozen all day breakfast? fill yer boots. But I stocked up on Savoury rice and Pasta N Sauce, mixed with the veg and quark I brought with me it was ok for the first few days.

By the end of the week I was thoroughly pissed off with eating jacket spud and baked beans every sodding day for lunch and cooking in the horrid kitchen in the horrid chalet every evening so I turned to the dark side (pinot grigio and easter eggs)

However, I did stick to my training schedule and did a few cliff top runs so limited the damage somewhat.

Just weighed myself, have gained 2lbs. Not great but not as bad as it could be. On the bright side I'm craving nice, healthy food with lots of veg and really, genuinely can't wait to get back into SW.

2lbs is not bad at all, we had plenty of people gaining this week because of the easter weekend who stayed at home!

God knows how but I managed to lose 2lbs despite easter egg eating and wine drinking a reasonable amount!

ProfYaffle · 18/04/2009 15:47

I get vecon in our health food shop. It makes a nice change from Bovril.

Well done on your loss Ewe - especially over Easter!

I've spent the day eating salad and fruit, bliss! Am making pork and apple burgers for tea, can't wait.

Has anyone ever eaten a bloater by the way? I bought one while on holiday in a fit of enthusiasm after a visit to a herring smoking museum (it's all go chez Prof) and was horrified to discover it still had it's guts not actually got as far as eating it yet.

applepudding · 18/04/2009 22:41

fuzzypeach - I've never seen anything which said you could eat sweet pot as HE on red day although it would make sense as I think you can eat parsnips as a HE as well as pots.

Profyaffle - did you have a nice holiday apart from the kitchen and the shop?

I know what you mean about a taste for healthy food, I've just had a packet of crisps and they taste really fatty and yuck on my tongue. Should have had the apple!

Morning Ladies can i join again as i have gone of the rails a bit this week

this is my journey so far

starting weight 12 13

week 1 lost 4
week 2 lost 2.5
week 3 put on 2.5
week 4 lost 1.5
week 5 lost 2.5
week 6 lets see ....

so have lost 8 pd which i am happy with and the actual week i put on it was bcus i was running 3 miles a day as well as gym classes etc.

this week i am all over the week eating kids easter eggs and not eating food i need a kick up rear

applepudding · 19/04/2009 12:36

Hi hunnybun - congrats on your weight loss so far and all that excercise.

Well I haven't been too bad Easter Egg wise, and have mainly stuck to the diet but I need to go back to keeping a food diary as I have too many little syns which I forget to count, e.g. spoon of honey on my yogurt, drink of hilights choc, spoon of gravy granules which all adds up to 5 syns but I forget these when I then have two large glasses of wine and think 'that's my syns for the day'!! My weight loss has hit a plateau (keep putting on and taking off the same pound) and I can see why.

Apple - thanks for asking, we did have a nice holiday yes. It was just the accommodation we were disappointed with.

Fuzzy - I'm not that fussed about chocolate, can take it or leave it, white wine however is my downfall. I have 3 bottles in the fridge which is very dangerous .....

Still, I've just been out for a 5k run, had a lovely time, saw rabbits, a deer and some pheasants. My training has stepped up a gear this week so I'm hoping that helps take off that 2lbs fairly quickly.

nikkid21 · 20/04/2009 13:23

Back from Easter hols - went camping and drank far too much wine and cider.

Weighed in last thursday and had lost 1/2 pound much to my surprise. Suspect that it's going to catch up with me this week.

Have been good so far today with a banana and 2 ryvita with laughing cow. Also did a 1 hour body pump class and 30 min spinning class.

Am going EE today so will have salmon with noodles and stir fry veg for tea.

Am now only 2lb over the target weight that I got to last April so am pleased that I have kept it off and stayed at a size 12 (ish) for the last year.

ProfYaffle · 21/04/2009 06:46

You lost half a pound after being on holiday and drinking cider!

Well done on keeping the weight off for a year, that's fantastic. I know from bitter experience that I'm really quite good at losing weight, it's keeping it off that I struggle with, how do you do it? Do you ever forget about your weight and just live or is it always on your mind?

nikkid21 · 21/04/2009 16:12

My weight is always in the back of my mind. If I forget about it the weight goes straight back on again.

I stopped going to SW group between Xmas and February and put on 10lb . I've come to think that I have the alchoholic mindset with food and treat going to group like AA - ie it helps to keep me on the wagon eating wise. (I don't mean to trivialise alcholholism but it's the best way to describe how I am with food)

I don't think that I will ever be one of those people who can just eat what they are like until they are full. I'm more of an emotional / boredom / comfort eater. It does seem easier to keep it off with SW as I still sort of decide whether to go red or green each day and limit my extras B's to 2 a day still. That way it gives me the leeway to maintain while over synning if I want on wine.

ProfYaffle · 21/04/2009 19:38

It's quite depressing really isn't it? I never used to struggle with my weight, stuck to a healthy, low fat, vegetarian diet without really thinking about it.

Getting pregnant was my big mistake, I figured I deserved cake seeing as I wasn't eating cheese or drinking. Then the gatekeeper in my head went awol and hasn't been seen since! Once I gave myself permission to eat crap I found it impossible to stop then got into the whole diet/regain cycle.

I've also realised recently that I'm a 'rebel' where food rules are concerned and when pregnant I was rebelling against what felt like the iron will of the state [drama queen emoticon]

SW (EE in particular) really feels like the way I used to eat before so I'm hoping to reset my brain, recognise my rebellious triggers, and get back to how I used to be.

(Sorry for the marathon post btw!)

nikkid21 · 21/04/2009 20:51

I know exactly what you mean ProfYaffle. I had bulimia in my teens as coudn't control my eating but sorted it out with CBT counselling. For a brief period I had a healthy relationship with food and good body image - then I got pregnant.

The first time I ate whatever I wanted including litres of orange juice and whole packets of choccy bics. As a result two day before giving birth I weighed over 16 stone - I was 11 before I started. Since then it been a battle.

I think that SW is better than most diets for learning new habits. I hate to hear of people doing lighter life that haven't eaten solids for months beacuse you just know that it's all going to pile on again.
