I know it is my first week but I am finding it so easy compared to other diets I have been on, the variety and flexibility is fab.

I have had two practically syn free days as I want to lose a lot in the first week as I know it will help keep me motivated and I am not at all hungry or even fancying any bad foods.

Think it makes such difference having so little sugar in my diet, no sugar swings!

How many of you weight at home in between sessions? I am doing SW with my Mum and she is weighing everyday, I don't have scales so aren't at all. Just wondered what you lot do!

AuntieMaggie · 08/04/2009 20:10

Ewe - you won't lose more weight by not having your syns!!!

I don't bother weighing at home as it's false economy - your scales aren't calibrated the same way.

Glad you're finding it easy. I do too - am eating more food but losing weight which is great.

I had 2 segments from a chocolate orange that someone bought into work today. 2 and a half syns each but pleased I stopped at that. But I'm more of a savoury person - could kill for pizza or chinese! (its not the same when you make it yourself)

I'm trying to figure out next weeks meals so I can do the shopping without over spending and still have plenty of stuff to eat. Anyone have any meal ideas? I kind of base it around what meat is on offer at the supermarket.

AuntieMaggie · 08/04/2009 20:30

I just remembered - at the last group I used to go to the leader used to make quiche with the bachelors pasta and sauce - I think it goes something like this, but I can't remember the quantities:

make the pasta and sauce with just water
fry off some onions
mix eggs with quark/cottage cheese

mix all together and put in the oven til set.

It was nice as I remember and free on green.

Ewe · 08/04/2009 20:34

Surely it must help not eating syns when you don't need them? I would have only eaten them for the sake of it as I haven't felt hungry or like I needed anything else.

I don't see the point in weighing either although I guess it might prepare you if you are expecting a gain, I think the weekly weighing is so effective because you wait to find out. If I weighed at home and saw I'd lost 2lb I would prob reward myself with a little treat - not the point!

Mmmm, chocolate orange, my favourite! I am dreading staying on track with easter this weekend. How many syns in a whole easter egg?

I had chicken wrapped in bacon with some mozzarella (as a healthy extra) with salad and a 227g (HE) jacket potato today which was lovely. I made sausage (M&S Count on Us 0.5 syns each but morrisons do free ones), mash, onion gravy (Bovril) and veg on Sat which was also really good.

ProfYaffle · 08/04/2009 20:34

AM - that's what I do re the meat! I hang around the discount section in Tesco and buy up joints/packs of mince etc I find green days cheaper too, jacket spuds, pasta etc

I am having such a struggle today. We're going on holiday on Friday and I'm getting demob happy already so really tempted to throw caution to the wind. It's not a good sign as I don't want to blow it on holiday either, would be gutted if I put some weight back on.

ProfYaffle · 08/04/2009 20:37

Ewe - I get a bit like that with the HEs. I know we should eat them but last night I saved some Ryvita and Laughing cow for the evening incase I was hungry but I wasn't so didn't have them.

I don't have a problem eating my syns though

Ewe · 08/04/2009 20:37

I haven't even thought about holidays, we always spend two weeks at France in the summer eating lots of bread, pate, rillette etc and drink tonnes of red wine. I think I would just have to take the two weeks off and be really good when I get back!

Where are you going Prof?

ProfYaffle · 08/04/2009 20:39

Nowhere exciting, just a caravan in Caistor on Sea, at least the cuisine won't be so tempting ....

Ewe · 08/04/2009 20:39

I just read somewhere that a creme egg is about 10 syns, maybe I will be using them after all

I find the healthy extras such a faff, makes me not want to bother with them!

Ewe · 08/04/2009 20:41

Oooh, fish and chips in that case! That would be impossible to resist. One of the main reasons I chose SW was so that I could have chips on a green day!

ProfYaffle · 08/04/2009 20:41

I've just had a Cadbury's Fudge, 5 syns. They are very small though

ProfYaffle · 08/04/2009 20:43

They won't be sw chips though will they??

AuntieMaggie · 08/04/2009 20:56

Argh - I was just going to tell you about my sausages when I remembered they were still in the oven!

I now have 2 rock hard sausages for my bacon and sausage sandwich tomorrow Oh well, I've still got the bacon so I can have just bacon or beans on toast.

I eat breakfast at work as I'm rubbish at eating in the mornings. So I normally take cereal but have begun cooking bacon and sausages the night before and heating them up when I get to work.

Does anyone else have a problem with their DP eating their food that they buy for SW purposes?

Ewe · 08/04/2009 21:13

No, they won't be sw chips but they will be delicious

My DP ate two of my cold sausages at the weekend, I was not happy Particularly as he thought it was ridiculous me going on a diet in the first place and now all he does is eat my food and says helpful things like "you can't be on a diet, you're having a cooked breakfast/sausage n mash" etc etc. I don't think men and diets are a great combo in any way!

My dh is very good, he's very supportive. Although in the first few weeks I could tell he was a bit about the food I was eating - cooked breakfasts, home made cheeseburgers etc And he was gently preparing me for disappointing weight loss, lots of talk of needing more willpower on this diet, what about portion control etc

By the way, I've got some pork mince and am planning on making pork and apple burgers, if I put grated apple in the mix will I have to syn it as it will be cooked by the time we eat it?

AuntieMaggie · 09/04/2009 12:57

Ooooh fuzzy your meals look lovely.

Spanish chicken - do you make from scratch?

Would be interested in the salmon recipe and sweet chilli chicken with vegetable rice - is it just honey and soy sauce?

AuntieMaggie · 09/04/2009 17:49

OK so I left work early to go weigh in cos I was so excited and... I've put on 2 pounds!

I am absolutely gutted as I thought (with the exception of friday night) I did really well this week and my clothes are definitely looser

Ewe · 09/04/2009 23:26

Oh no! Have you been exercising? Could it be you gaining muscle? Try to stick with it even though I am sure you feel thoroughly demotivated.

I fell off the wagon a bit as I had a ham and cheese baguette at the farm today as they had a v.limited choice of food.

snottymcgrotty · 09/04/2009 23:56

Well, I finally managed to get back to class tonight and ....... I've lost 3 lbs while away for 4 wks !! So I felt the need to come home, put my feet up (after putting girls to bed) and finish off my big box of chocolates .
Am now 11st 1.5lbs so only 8.5lbs to go to target ...... I WILL get into my small uniform !

snottymcgrotty · 09/04/2009 23:59

Forgot to mention .... instead of paying 4 wks of back fees, I rejoined . The consultant gave me a new club 10 target of 9st something !!!!!!!! I don't think she'll EVER see me achieve that !

ProfYaffle · 10/04/2009 09:03

Oh no AM! What did your consultant say? She should be going over your food diary to see if there's anything going wrong. I also find that if I'm exercising it takes a couple of weeks for the weight loss to filter through, could that be the reason?

AuntieMaggie · 10/04/2009 11:30

Haven't been excercising but don't understand it cos my clothes definitely feel looser.

I slipped up earlier in the week by having tinned fruit as free food cos I got confused but think apart from that and a night off (just a meal no alcohol) on friday I've been so good.

at being 11st 1.5lbs snotty! I would love to be that weight!

Not going to give up though - I had a cider and a curry last night (not because of weight gain - me and DP are having a difficult time and had a row and didn't end up eating til 10pm after hours of crying etc) but I'm going to stick to it 100% this week and weigh every single morsel that passes my lips!

Am going shopping later - any tips for good buys?
