ProfYaffle - two areas of eating away from home I haven't been very good on. One is in the office, I am fine with the things that I take in with me, but it is the other food, biscuits, cakes that other people bring in. I've been doing SW this time since end of Jan and for the first 8 weeks I was so good, just eating the things I took in, but the last week or so my will power seems to have gone, people buy me cakes and I eat them! Also if we go out for a meal (with my family, we do this at least once a week) I'm OK if we go to particular places. I'm doing EE so I have something like gammon or steak, baked potato and salad which is fine. The prob is if we go somewhere where everything is in sauce or covered in olive oil, and you can't always tell from the menu what's what. I think I just need to pick the places we go to. DH often wants to go somewhere new and I feel boring keep going on about the food fitting in with SW.

Anyway. new leaf today. I'm at home all day and have had berries and yog for breakfast, two alpen lites as snacks which are HEB and gammon, fresh pineapple, mashed potato with skimmed milk, peas and grilled tomatoes for my tea. I'll have banana and yogurt later on. So my only syns are two teaspoons of honey on the yogurt.

I've also been on a walk for about mile and half and hoovered all the house so some exercise there!

ProfYaffle · 06/04/2009 18:44

I know exactly what you mean apple. I've done Weight Watchers a few times and although it's easier to eat out I still used to end up eating the same stuff over and over. I could scream with boredom.

On Sw this time I've hardly eaten out at all but I've only been doing it 6 weeks so I'm sure I'll crack on the takeaway front sometime soon!

My only practical suggestion is the usual ask for sauces/dressings to be left off where possible. And also, have you tried Success Express? I started doing this when dh and I had an evening out at a posh London restaurant, I did SE on either side to mitigate the damage iyswim.

AuntieMaggie · 06/04/2009 18:49

Oh I have been busy.... Got home from work an hour ago and I have a syn free quiche in the oven (the one with quark that was recommended on here) have cooked some syn free morrisons sausages for breakfast tomorrow and cooked a chicken breast in spices for my wrap for lunch. AND tonights dinner is in a pot ready to go in the oven!

So, tomorrow I will have a bacon and sausage sandwich for breakfast (yummy) and a cajun chicken and salad in a tortilla for lunch (tortilla is synned).

My workmates will never believe I'm dieting!!!

AuntieMaggie · 06/04/2009 18:53

Oh, I forgot - I have been stupid and thought tinned fruit (in juice) was also free so have messed up there. Hopefully won't matter too much though.

AuntieMaggie · 06/04/2009 19:09

I realise I'm talking to myself here but the syn free quark quiche is so yummy - Thank you Nikki! Definitely a success although I did put so much filling in that it falls apart but that doesn't ruin the taste!

nikkid21 · 06/04/2009 19:26

Glad that you like the recipe. I just hated the bobbly texture that cottage cheese gave it.

Am not really doing sw this week as was so demotivated by maintaining 2 weeks in a row. This happend to me at this stage last time when I was around 3lb from target. I found that I had to have a week of relaxing about it and then it all clicked into place again.

Re tinned fruit in juice - you can have some as a healthy b - it listed in the healthy exr=tras section online.

FUZZYPEACH - Will do it tomorrow - ok? Just planning my next three days food eating to keep on track!

Lost half a pound this week, which brings me to a grand total of 1.5 lbs in a month!!! Oh I am so good at this dieting lark, not! I wil really try for the next two weeks, as I have to go and see the diabetic nurse on 20th April, and need to be in the next stone band by then! otherwise I will still weigh the same as this time last year, which is not too sucessful a weight loss - but also good as I have not gained!!

applepudding · 06/04/2009 22:12

I've never really tried success express. I think that is where you can have red and green together like extra easy, but is it 2/3 of your plate has to be super free? I'll go and look my books out. May be worth trying if I'm doing a meat and potato type meal - could do a huge plate of broccoli and carrots like I do if I'm doing WW. and I think you can only eat super free as snacks.

Andirobo - just keep telling yourself that half a pound off is better than half a pound on!

ProfYaffle · 07/04/2009 07:22

Don't forget eggs, cottage cheese, tofu, tvp and quorn are superfree too. I tend to make something like quorn curry with loads of veggies and have 2/3 that and 1/3 rice, or tvp bolognese. SW quiche is good too with 1/3 potato wedges or meat to go with it.

ProfYaffle · 07/04/2009 07:23

Oh and you still get 2 HE so I tend to use those as snacks.

applepudding · 07/04/2009 13:14

So if you were doing success express and had to take a lunch in to work what would you take? I've got use of a microwave.

I normally do jacket pot with cottage cheese or beans or have a potato/rice or pasta salad, and I can't think what I'd be able to have on success express apart from a big plate of leafy salad.

The quorn curry idea is good and I like the idea of having two HEs agaain. I normally use these as snacks too.

ProfYaffle · 07/04/2009 14:44

Well, you could still do the rice/pasta/potato salad but you'd have to have only 1/3 of rice etc and 2/3 could be veggies, salad, cold Quorn sausage or cottage cheese. Or you could take a chunk of sw quiche and have it with your usual kind of pasta salad. Or you could take leftovers, today for lunch I had a portion of Quorn curry I froze from dinner last week.

I also like Quorn mince chilli and smoked tofu egg fried rice (with loads of tofu and veg and not much rice)

It is quite restrictive, I don't do it more than 2 days per week and don't do it on consecutive days.

AuntieMaggie · 07/04/2009 18:50

I've had the best day yet today - don't feel hungry at all and I haven't had dinner yet. Usually by this time I'm climbing the walls with hunger!

Bfast: Bacon and syn free sausage sandwich (i love morrisons)

Lunch: Tortilla with a chicken breast, salsa and cheese

Snacks: Mullerlight, banana, grapes, 2 satsumas and syn free quark quiche

I've had 10 syns on marg, ketchup, tortilla and salsa but lunch was worth the syns!

I'm still working so by the time I get home and have dinner I won't have much time for snacking.

That sounds like me on the weekend fuzzy!

I had subway in town cos I'd forgotten to eat (something I do at the weekend when I'm not in a routine) and thought I'd be able to use the bread as a HE - apparently not! That then led to a few little slip ups.

Enjoy your pizza tonight and start again tomorrow (wish I was having pizza!)

Fuzzypeach - I sympathise - that is how I go off the rails.

I've had a much better day today and have also managed to get some more exercise in - just walking but as long as I walk a mile or so each day that helps me so much with losing weight.

ProfYaffle - thanks for the advice on SE. If I don[t have any better success on the EE this week I'll give it a go.

Wolfblass · 08/04/2009 10:10

Hey All,

I'm Becs and have weighed in at slimming world again yesterday morning.

I joined last April and weighed in at 14st 7.5, went on holiday beginning of June weighing 13st 7.5, 3 weeks after our holiday to Rhodes i found out i was pg and gave birth to our Son (Gabriel Henry) just under 3 weeks ago. Also have a 5 year old dd Georgia-Mae, who hopefully will be able to eat all the easter eggs in our house! lol

Two weeks after pg and cannot believe i only (well only in comparison to last years weights) weigh 13st 9lbs!!!! , even after all that choccy and pizza etc and having a baby.

I had a final blow out last night, (pizza and wine) and re-starting the plan officaly today. Was that wise, i hope so!

Need to get my head around the extra easy plan as it sounds too good to be true!

My downfall really is wine and cheese....

Becs xx

AuntieMaggie · 08/04/2009 12:28

How was the pizza Fuzzy?

Today is not as good as yesterday - I am starving. Had weetabix for breaskfast and a chicken sandwich and syn free quiche for lunch. I've got some fruit but I was hoping it would last a bit longer than this!!!

And it's only 12:30.... trying not to go get any food from the canteen - I only have a pound on me anyway (another cunning plan to make sure I don't buy junk).

password is running

Can you alternate extra easy days with red and green days?? Or do you have to stcik to extra easy completely??

I've had an awful day today SW wise! Our freezer has pcked in adn we've just been tog et a new one, on the way home Gabriel needed his bottle and Georgie eeded lunch so we stopped off at a Brewers Fayre. I ordered Salmon with Jacket potato, sauce seperate and veg. After waiting an hour still no food, after another 15 mins dp went to ask where it was, 20 mins later and the waitress hadn't come back, so we went to ask again. 10 mins after that a waitress came and said they were giving us a full refund as there were still people waiting infront of us.

So we got home at 4pm, minus any lunch and all i'd had fro brekkie was shape lasting satisfaction yoghurt, pineapple and mango.

As we've not been shopping their isn't anything i can throw together in the house, so i've just had another yoghurt and a hifi bar (which was delish - the lemon one mmm).

DP is making us the Chicken Dopiaza and rice as in last months SW mag and i'm bunging in the oven a slimming world quiche (bacon, onion, peppers and cheese) to eat later tonight when wathing the apprentice! Does that sound okay on the Extra Easy Day?

I wanted to start off on a great day...grrrr

AuntieMaggie · 08/04/2009 17:47

You can alternate EE days with the others. Some days (like today) I fancy more HE so I have a red day, but other days I have EE days.

Don't be too disheartened Wolf. You can make up for it and it doesn't sound like you've had that bad a day - if I'd have been faced with that I'd have pigged out on takeaway!

I have to watch DP cooking - he made mince and tatties last night but used oil and cornflour in the mince - argh!

Weigh in tomorrow and I'm nervous! I will be gutted if I've put on weight after a great start last week. Fingers crossed I'll be ok after the slip upsat the weekend I've been really good.
