Hi girls!!

Right.... the rules:

1 No big goals.
2 No failing.
3 No guilt trips.

Our goals need to be realistic. It freaks me out to think I need to lose 10 stone. That's 140 pounds - it's a WHOLE PERSON!!!!

Therefore I propose that we make ourselves realistic goals. Ignore the final hurdle; the first hurdle is my first half a stone.

7 lbs.

No failing: if you put on any weight, then IT IS ALRIGHT. It will come off again.

We will try our best to keep our weight going down, but if it has a blip, then it has a blip - no big deal, ok?

I am sick and tired of putting myself on and feeling guilt tripped by people because I put a pound or two on this week.

NEWSBREAK: it doesn't matter in the big picture!

Focus on the positives.

We will encourage each other as we muddle along together, agreed?

Here is our inspiration to keep going:

Only One Pound

Hello! Do you know me? If you don't, you should. I'm a pound of fat. And I am the happiest pound of fat that you would ever want to meet.

Want to know why? It's because no one ever wants to lose me; I'm ONLY ONE POUND, just a pound!

Everyone wants to lose three pounds, five pounds, or fifteen pounds, but never only one.

So I just stick around and happily keep you fat. Then I add to myself, ever so slyly, so that you never seem to notice it. That is until I've grown to ten, twenty, thirty or even more pounds in weight.

Yes, it's fun being ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT, left to do as I please.

So, when you weigh in, keep right on saying, "Oh, I only lost one pound." (As if that were such a terrible thing) For you see, if you do this, you'll encourage others to keep me around because they'll think I'm not worth losing.

And, I love being around you - your arms, your legs, your chin, your hips and every part of you.

Happy Days!!! After all, I'm ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT!!!

I had a slightly better day today.

Slices of bread eaten = 1

I did have chips for tea but nowhere near as many as normal.

Lovely dress Giraffes

superfrenchie1 · 25/01/2009 00:05

hello! i've come over to join you all.

tonight i have weighed myself and for the first time ever i have actually decided that enough is enough and i need to DO SOMETHING to lose this squidgy tummy! up til now i've still been thinking of myself as a thin person and deleting the 'fat' photographs and thinking to myself that maybe the weight will come off by itself (it won't!)

i would love to lose 2.5st by the end of August (my 30th birthday) - but more important to have sustained smaller weight loss and stop eating the dcs' left-overs... and training myself to eat one biscuit and put the pack away rather than scoffing the whole lot. if you eat 1 extra biscuit every day you will put on 9lb over a year. so basically every biscuit counts. no guilt trips. if you stumble and eat 6 biscuits it's still good to stop there rather than going on to eat all 10 biscuits... right?

i weigh 13st tonight, i am only 5'2, it's all around my belly. i really want to get back to how i was a couple of years ago. after my second pg the weight just stuck around and i'm pretty lazy and full of excuses but i hate, hate, hate having nothing to wear and feeling uncomfortable and that feeling of wanting to hide away.

i'm adding this thread to my watch list because otherwise i'll be all on my own. dp is no support at all, he's just made some horrible comment in fact, and i need some motivation. so i will pop back if that's ok.

i've just signed up with this change for life thing as well. good luck everyone and well done to everyone so far, you've done so well it's v inspirational, i really hope i can come back with some good news at some point!

bellavita · 25/01/2009 08:54

Hi superfrenchie1, you sound really positive even without your dp's support - and he really should not be making horrible comments.

I did not realise the 91b thing with the biscuits - that is quite shocking. Every time I reach for one now, I will think again, so thanks for the info .

Keep checking in and let us know how you get on.

CarbJunkie · 25/01/2009 12:00

I think I am having carb withdrawals lol. I have had a really bad headache since yesterday morning.

Today is going well so far. Had my new cereal this morning and it was lovely so at least that won't feel like a chore.

Can't decide what to have for lunch.

ladymariner · 25/01/2009 13:27

Hello all, just putting my head round the door to say hi and wish us all loads of luck and slimness!!! Everyone sounds like they're doing really well, and I agree with the others, that dress is lovely, Giraffes

I get weighed tomorrow, please keep it all crossed for me! I've been really gooda again this week, apart from friday when I was mega-stressed and succumbed to 2 choc digestives, and then my son brought home choc scones he'd made at school and obviously I had one, just the one though! Been out for a 3-mile walk with my friend this morning, hope it helps!!!

swedishmum · 25/01/2009 14:02

CarbJunkie, hope you're drinking enough water. Headaches shouldn't last too long. I'm taking multivitamin plus vit B at the moment.
Giraffes the dress is lovely - you'll look fantastic.
Welcome Superfrenchie1. I admire your ability to stop at one biscuit!
LM, good luck with the weigh in. Food made by dcs surely doesn't count?

ladymariner · 25/01/2009 21:08

Well, I didn't think it did, swedishmum

superfrenchie1 · 25/01/2009 22:46

hi, yes i am sure food made by dcs doesn't count!

i've done pretty well today, feeling positive - i just hope i can keep up the momentum.

swedishmum, i wish i could stop at one biscuit...! maybe the new me can!?

thanks for the welcome!

hippipotamiHasLostTwoPounds · 26/01/2009 08:07

I am very happy this morning!!

MumHadEnough · 26/01/2009 11:32

Hello everyone, I am sneaking back in the door as I have been very very very naughty over the weekend. I have had all sorts of bad things, chinese, mcdonalds, half a jar of the N word . Not going to take my weigh in as official this morning as it says I've put on 4lbs over the weekend, so I'm going to ignore that as there is no way!

Anyway, only 10 days till i go on hols so I had just better behave myself I think! .

Hippi, I take it you have had some good news this morning?

Well done to everyone who has been doing great!

C xxx

Eddas · 26/01/2009 11:42

Hi ladies, can I join in please?

I need to lose around 2 stone to get vaguely to my 'ideal' weight, whatever that is!! Bloody charts, I don't agree with them so once i feel better i'll feel better even if the scales don't agree

My first target is 1 stone. I'm not fussed how long it takes. I'm not doing a stupid no eating, only lettuce and water diet as it won't work longterm.

My plan is(and what i've been doing for a whole 2 days!) cereal for breakfast, soup or sandwhich for lunch and a normal dinner. But Dinner used to be quiet unhealthy so it must include salad or veg and i'm cutting down things like sausages to only have 2 instead of 3. I don't want to restrict everything too much or I will just give up!

Snacks will be yogurt or fruit.

My biggest downfalls are chocolate, biscuits and crisps which I will try and avoid as if I have one i'll want 10!!

I'll stop waffling now, but hope it's ok to join everyone

Eddas · 26/01/2009 11:43

oh and i've deceided not to weigh myself every day week like I normally do on a diet, i'm going to do it every other week. I've also measured various parts of my body and will do that every other week too.

hippipotamiHasLostTwoPounds · 26/01/2009 13:21

Mum, had good news, look here ^^^^^^!

hippipotamiHasLostTwoPounds · 26/01/2009 13:21

Sorry, teh ^ are meant to be up arrows!

swedishmum · 26/01/2009 13:30

Hippi, well done!
Oh well, MHE, Monday's a good day for starting again. The holiday's a good incentive.
Welcome to Eddas. I'm not weighing myself at all (would dread going on the scales) but I'm wishing I had now because I've been good for 2 and a half weeks.

hippipotamiHasLostTwoPounds · 26/01/2009 13:36

Thank you

I am only weighing myself every other week because otherwise I would become too disheartened...
I was terrified of getting on teh scales this morning and nearly did not do it, but am glad now

Have just taken the dog for an energetic walk and am now going to have some lunch and a large glass of water

bellavita · 26/01/2009 16:45

Got on the scales this morning - lost another pound. Am going to be (or try to be) really good all week as we are going to a friends 50th on Saturday night.

ladymariner · 26/01/2009 21:22

cheer me up, ladies, you would not believe how pissed off I am - after being really really good all week I got on the scales at SW to find I'd lost the grand total of half a poxy pound!!! Half a pound! For all that effort

Anyway, I'm determined not to be too downbeat, and to keep going, I've got the vision of my holiday to inspire me, but it just seems so hard to shift any weight and so flipping easy to put it on! I've lost 5lbs in 2 weeks so I'm delighted with that, and I have to say I already have loads more energy so thats a definate bonus I played netball tonight and I'll get a walk in this week and hopefully I'll see a loss next week.

We're at my dh's works party this w.end though, we're staying over for the night in a hotel so I'm planning how to get the most out of it without blowing all my hard work. Lots of dancing, I think, and maybe something else to burn some calories off.......

(there, being on here with you lot has cheered me up already, but support would be MUCH appreciated!!!!!)

ladymariner · 26/01/2009 21:59

Sorry for wallowing in self-pity - WELL DONE BELLA AND HIPPO, that's brilliant! Keep it up

duckyfuzz · 26/01/2009 22:04

well done bella, hippi and ladymariner

Having lost the weight I put on last weekend, I managed not to put any on this weekend (not sure how, I ate and drank enough!!) so back on track I hope

bellavita · 26/01/2009 22:09

ladymariner - losing half is better than putting it on! Well done everyone.
