For all those using Nintendos' little marvel to help slim down!

My mum got me this for Christmas, and when I go up on it today, it'll be my fifth day . I aim for 30 mins a day but at the minute I'm happy with around 15 at a minimum. Need to start building it up, I want to lose 2-3 stone, taking me to 9st or 8st if I can do it. (Can you tell I've not got kids yet!). Hopefully I can do it, come and join me!

OK, so who has a male trainer and who has the female one? I did have the woman but she was so annoying...

I can do basic step OK, but advanced confuses me so much lol.

Ok I've set it up. I'm a pro at hula hooping wahoo. However, I am 34- 11 years older than in RL!! And I'm 29 on the fat thing. I need to be a 22. Which means I have to lose like 3 stone or something- which is as I thought, but now I'm feeling super fat. I need to drop 2 or 3 dress sizes and get some kind of figure other than 'blobby'.

Anyone else similar? Who's a 29 on the fatometer?

MumofBaby · 29/12/2008 16:30

Oh and I have a laydee trainer as I felt self conscious with the man haha.

MumofBaby · 29/12/2008 16:32

I need some ideas for diet to do alongside the wii and my Clubland exercise dvd. I'm thinking one of those Tuna Light Lunch things for lunch, and fish with potatoes and veg for tea. Also, possibly muesli and soya yoghurt or natural yoghurt for brekki.

How does this sound? What can I snack on between lessons?

mysterymoniker · 29/12/2008 16:32

I've got the man

just unlocked the boxing - soooo confused at first (left right left what?) but on my second go I am 'simmering fire' with 2 stars

have also unlocked the free jogging while you watch tv thing so will try that out, probably after some maltesers . . .

CatMandu · 29/12/2008 16:34

Can I join in too, I'll start tomorrow.

MumofBaby · 29/12/2008 16:39

Can I also add, I need to get from 13 stone to 10 (maybe 9) stone. D'ya reckon this is do-able in 4-5 months?

VirginBoffinMum · 29/12/2008 16:47

As a successful weight loss person (pre pregnancy!), I reckon it's hard to lose more than 7lbs a month without going bonkers, so if you set yourself a target of about 2 stone in that time period you are more likely to succeed, IMO, and keep it all up so eventually you get where you want to be.

JingleBuzz · 29/12/2008 17:59

my BMI is 31. something, I'm starting my diet on Jan 5th when DH goes back to work I might have to lock the kitchen door to kkep me away from the chocolate!
I try to only have meat or fish and loads of veg as an evening meal and be healthy through the day!

LollipopViolet · 29/12/2008 19:19

I think uni need to ban me from buying unhealthy food from their shops and cafes. That's where I come unstuck...and I go back next Monday..doh!

I too love the hula hooping and I am trying to do 15 mins aerobic exercise and then do at least one yoga and one muscle workout thing.

How often do you all do the body check - it suggests that you should do it every day - today I am 1 year younger than my real age - again I agree it is on my ability to stand still!!!!

I like the step as well - just did the advanced one today - which was good!! I try to do a different activity each day, so you dont specialise in any one!

I need to get out of obese into overweight!!!

lunavix · 29/12/2008 23:16

I have ignored my wii fit for a few months so am starting it on the 1st like everything else.

Debating about gym - I joined local one but don't really have the free cash. Maybe I should commit myself to the wii fit for a month and see if it makes a difference. I wanted to use it in place of weightloss class (weighing/bmi) but it's not overly accurate... hmm!

lunavix · 29/12/2008 23:17

Plus I'm at least a stone heavier than when I was last on it so I really don't want to see it boing drastically!

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 29/12/2008 23:18

I have the laydee trainer. I don't know why. DH also has the laydee trainer. I know why

LollipopViolet · 30/12/2008 11:54

My stomach muscles feel all tight and sore today...maybe they're tightening up? I've still done 15 minutes this morning, going to try and do more later. And...we're getting a treadmill and crosstrainer in the house (my grandfather had his knees replaced, and needs to keep active) so I shall use that too when I have the chance.

I did an hour on wii fit yesterday and an hour today, and I have supposedly lost 3lb surely it doesn't happen that quickly? I exercise in underwear so it's not a clothing issue.

I have to lose 5 lbs every 2 weeks to get where I want to be in time for the wedding.

I cannot do the muscle strengthening ones. Expecially not the push ups

Baby was sat watching me wii-ing away, and he fell to the side, so I jumped off to pick him up and wii lady shouted at me!! 'Hellllooo' all sarcastic. 'I can't do this on my own, you know.' Grr. When I unlock boxing can I box her?

Shesells- hehe laughed my head off at that post

I've managed to get DP into wii fit, he loves it now!

sparklesandwine · 30/12/2008 12:12

can i just ask a few questions??

i'm thinking of getting one of these but want to know if they really are any good as its alot of money if its just a fad type thing....suppose it depends on me though

but do they work is what i'm getting at i guess

poshwellies · 30/12/2008 12:14

Hold hands up-can I say ,I'm officially the worse at the 'step' programme on the Wii

But I've gone from being totally unbalanced and having a Wii fit age of ...........*whispers......72!! to having a Wii fit age of 30 (2 years under my actual age) yay.I've been doing 1 hour a day-mainly balance and jogging.

poshwellies · 30/12/2008 12:17

We urmm and ahh'd sparkle,it is alot of money,I would agree and I'm rubbish at sticking to things (and I have lack of patience) but so far so good.
All of us have been using the board-but it's me mainly that's using it to gain some fitness.

LollipopViolet · 30/12/2008 12:19

Oh I hate when the trainer goes all sarcy on you. I was doing one muscle thing this morning and he said, "You're shaking a bit". I know, I was trying to not fall flat on my face!

OP posts:
MumofBaby · 30/12/2008 12:21

Sparkles- DP and I love it, and my Dsis and BIL love it, too. It's got things like jogging and step, and it weighs you, and gives you a goal. It's got muscle things and yoga, but it's also got things like heading footballs and being a penguin-flipping fish and catching them. These are for balance. Mine's improving already. I LOVE Wii fit!!

sparklesandwine · 30/12/2008 12:44

it does look good and you can also use it for other games i guess

i have no time or money to go to the gym but thought this may be a good way to tone up and hopefully loose a little weight

i've just had my 5th baby and must admit i'm finding it harder to loose weight since i hit 30+

sparklesandwine · 30/12/2008 12:46

i think my sister has one i may ask her if i can borrow it to try out before i buy one

good luck to you all, you may see me back on here if i get one

mysterymoniker · 30/12/2008 13:32

I love mine, obviously it is only day 6 so still plenty of time for the novelty to wear off . . . just about to hop on and do my daily test

JingleBuzz · 30/12/2008 18:00

I love mine too, its fun!
On my body test yesterday my age was 35 but I gained 1lb and my BMI went up to 32
I did 20 minutes training and can def feel it today!
I think i'm best at the Yoga so far!
