happynewRia · 04/01/2009 21:41

hey pink - how are you???

did you have a good xmas/new year/center parcs?

RGPargy · 04/01/2009 22:17

hi everyone

I have spend today eating stuff i shouldn't and drinking yet more alcohol from about 5pm this evening. you'd think i'd be pissed as a fart wouldn't you but that just goes to show how much my body is now used to alcohol - not that i've been guzzling it down or going on a bender or anything, quite the opposite really!

Good luck with the restarts tomorrow ladies. My WW meeting is (thankfully) at 9.30am tomorrow so i dont have another day thinking "WW starts at 7pm when i walk into the meeting" and then eating more crap in the meantime, IYKWIM.

I think we should start the weigh-ins again, dont you? i'll be the first to post my new post-xmas weight tomorrow. it'll be horrendous, i'm absolutely sure of it! oh well, what's done is done. Onwards and downwards (on the scales, that is!).

mrshammond · 05/01/2009 08:50

Haven't really been trying that hard this weekend. MIL came to stay as she has been ill and needed a bit of TLC. Went into town with DCs and ended up buying lunch AND dinner from M&S. Cauliflower cheese and a fat laden potato gratin thingy.

Have made my lunch to bring to work and have no cash on me so hopefully no temptations today.

Will make an effort and go out for a walk at lunchtime. (Working 8.30 - 5.00).

Feel a bit more positive today as DCs back at school so back in to a proper routine.

DH was a gem yesterday and cleared out the fridge and a couple of cupboards and got rid of a lot of crap left over from xmas - he's taken a load of biscuits to work and sent some chocs home with his Mum.

Good news is that, according to home scales, I only put on 1.5 lbs over the holidays - last year I think it was about 5!!!

notbloodybranston · 05/01/2009 12:35

Jaz - good luck. I always seem to end up walking against a tidal wave of people and give up by Selfridges.... But M & S has lovely stuff in at moment (some of which is in my size) so am going back one evening to do battle!

happynewRia · 05/01/2009 12:37

weighed in again today (to go with new start) am relieved to be still 18-4 after the weekend!

Am having a red SW day today, unusual for me. Still have DS2 home til tomorrrow and DS3 a poorly bunny so no chance to go out walking (too bloody cold), hopefully they will go to bed early and I'll get the DVD out. Am making chicken casserole in my new slow cooker. I just hope it's not revolting

hi jaz.

RGPargy · 05/01/2009 13:28

hi ladies!

I've just ordered myself a sports bra so hopefully that'll give me more motivation to get to the gym. I am currently using an old bra with a nursing bra over the top. Not a good look!

Weighed in today at WW at 18st 11.5lbs so that means i've put on 9lbs in about 5 weeks. Oh well, one good thing was that i won a cook book from the WW raffle that took place a couple of weeks ago - i'm well chuffed as i never win anything! It was meant to have been a WW hamper or something but as i wasn't there, it wouldn't have kept. Thought it was jolly nice of my leader to give me a substitute prize, or indeed to give me any prize at all!

So here goes:

RGPargy - 18st 11.5lbs
Ria - 18st 4lbs

Have a good week ladies!

happynewRia · 05/01/2009 16:25

I hope my casserole is good. I'm cold, tired and bored and craving naughty things!

I hope the boys eat the bloody casserole too, or I will cry.

I am going to ask DH if he will text me at 9pm to let me know if he'll be home before 10, thinking- the boys should be asleep by then so I should be able to do my DVD. And I know DH has seen me give birth 3 times, but there is no way on earth he is seeing me doing aerobics

jaz236 · 05/01/2009 17:50

awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, happy new year ria hope u enjoyed your xmas hun - what dvd are you doing? anyone seen that letitia dean one? trafford centre was packed i thought everyone had gone back to work??

having stir fry tnite!! and nothing else after!!

happynewRia · 05/01/2009 18:02

I bought the Rebecca Wheatley one, haven't looked at it yet, but 12 stone off in 2 years is pretty darned impressive.

casserole was passable, maybe a touch too much tarragon. Would have preferred masses of crusty bread to new potatoes though.

Now to get to bedtime without eating/drinking something I shouldn't...

FairyMel · 05/01/2009 19:03

Hi all!! I'm back after falling off the wagon for a bit!

Hope you all had a good Christmas and new year. My diet restarted today and I've had just one slip up... a slice of christmas cake that was calling me from the kitchen. Not too bad though for my 1st day back on it.

I started my weightloss journey in October and managed to lose 1 stone but put on 5lb in December. I started off in October at 19st 6lb so now at 18st 11lb.

bran · 05/01/2009 19:30

Well, I faltered a bit on the first day of my NY resolution to walk in the park by DS school after dropping him off. The sleet was stinging my face and I just whimped out. I started back at the gym today though, my trainer was very kind and went (slightly) easy on me, but I suspect he will be back up to full hard-hearted sadist by Thursday.

Can I just say (because it's a bit naff to talk about it in rl) that my norks are magnificent! When I first started to loose weight they went down a cup size and got quite a bit softer and less able to resist gravity. But now that the underlying pectoral muscle is strengthening they are firming up and look like they did when I was in my 20's, round and perky. DH is astonished. Push-ups are the way to go (if anyone's interested). I do standing ones, I started by putting my hands at kitchen counter height and putting my feet back about one large pace, then 3 sets of 15 lowering my chest to the counter and pushing back up, keeping legs straight. Now I'm doing them at about dining table height.

happynewRia · 05/01/2009 21:49

thanks for that bran. sadly I don't think my arms could cope with me weight just yet, but it's worth knowing.

am doing OK. have a headache (toxins?) so don't feel like a glass of wine. cup of tea, toast and a couple of chocolate biscuits (logged, counted and accounted for) then bed for me. no exercise though.

hi fairy mel. good to have you back.

RGPargy · 05/01/2009 22:17

Hi Jaz! I have seen that Letitia Dean DVD but i dont fancy it at all because i dont like the way she talks lol!! I quite fancy the Ministry one or whatever one it was that had the dance music on it. I do love step but there doesn't seem to be any decent ones out there these days.

Who's Rebecca Wheatley?

Mel - hello and welcome back! I think we have all fallen off the wagon over Christmas etc so i really wouldn't worry about it now. What's done is done.

Ria - sorry your casserole wasn't as you expected. We had a lovely (but very naughty!) dinner tonight - jacket spud with cheese and brocolli cheese on the side.

Bran - great tip re the pressups! I think i will start doing that tomorrow!

jaz236 · 06/01/2009 08:50

incidently apparently someone called that tina from shamelss the princess from shrek. she has also had a gastro band put in as her wieght was spiriling out of control!! and has lost 4 stone so far!!

enjoy ur day ladies!!

shinyshoes · 06/01/2009 09:18

Right I'm all weighed in at WW, got my monthly pass, all my books and i'm ready to go. Works out i'm on 26 points a day, it seems high but I did say I stood for most of the day. I don't really so I might change that which takes me down to 23 points.

I have had 5 already

Gotta slow down I think.

mrshammond · 06/01/2009 09:29

Shiny - if you got the little folder from WW - I can highly recommend a recipe in there for creamy mushrooms - I think it's in the quick start booklet.

It's yummy!! As mushrooms are a big fat zero points, you can have loads!!!!

I have had it at least twice a week since I started back on track - the DCs and DH love it too!!!

I am also a newly converted fan of bagels - they are quite filling and I think they are 3 points.

Good luck!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 06/01/2009 09:32

Right, I am back in after a disastrous Christmas period so back to where I started. have signed up to something on the web to monitir what I eat and exercise, DS starts nursery this week for two mornings which means that I can start using the treadmill that my mother gave me for Christmas, no more alcohol for a while and no more B&B's so can get out for walks with dog.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 06/01/2009 09:35

MrsH could you post the creamy mushroom recipe please.

mrshammond · 06/01/2009 09:51

Five - I can but am at work at the moment.
(Shock horror at MNing during work time!)

Will post it later this afternoon.

shinyshoes · 06/01/2009 10:03

Found it, it looks yummy plus I have a ton of mushrooms in the fridge. Thanks MrsH.

Creamy Mushrooms on toast.
serves 1
4 Points
Suitable for vegetarians

simmer 200g sliced mushrooms in a non stick frying pan with 6 tbsp hot veg stock for 4-5 minutes, until the liquid has almost evaporated.
Stir in 40g low fat soft cheese and heat through for a few minutes. Pile on top of two thick (45g each) slices of wholemeal or brown toast and season with ground pepper. Add some snipped chives.

Mrs H, I'm assuming Low fat soft cheese is Philly??

FiveGoMadInDorset · 06/01/2009 10:19

Thank you Shiny, it sounds delicious and a good lunchtime food.

PinkChick · 06/01/2009 10:24

HI Girls..again...sorry popped in breifly the other night and trying to catch up with you all

Ria[smle], christmas was lovely, new year as..new year...got tipsy(which is very unusual for me) and had night in with dp while dd in bed as mum was poorly so no babysitter)..dont really like new year anyway, hoping to go away next year?..canterparcs was fab..LOVE IT..def want to go back this year..

So how is everyone, not caught up properly yet!
Im waiting to get weighed until end of week properly, haven had tabs for while as kept having to cancel app when dd was poorly and had to work etc etc!..so hit and miss with them, but right now (being time of month and christmas pig out time) i seem to have put 3lbs on, i will get weighed again fri as totm effects should have gone and will get a truer weight! although i have been a piggy, not eating loads but eating the wrong stuff!..mum bought us a Wii for xmas, cant get Wii fit for love nor money..well actually for money i can ..but of dodgy ebay sites for twice the price!..so using Wii sports at minute, in the Wii mag it showed a girl who ate normal but did Wii sports for 1/2 hour every night for 28 days and lost INCHES all over her body!!!!..so if i can eat better AND do this, i will hopefully tone up AND lose weight!

Saw a nice warm trendy hoody while shopping at weekend, they were very skimpy, so i picked up a mens one instead in large but as it was meant to be kinda tight fit, i was still unsure, but dp said it looked good..i was expecting a big baggy slouchy comfy top LOL..however i agreed later it did look nice, im just not used to fitted things, so dp said to go abck and get it...SO what ive told myself is..yes i reg talk to myself! LOL..if i can lose 7lb between now and end of Jan, i will go buy myself it! as ill feel better being a few more pounds lighter in it and its a kind of incentive for me..did good yesterday until last night when i had 4 mini(and i mean mini) jammy dodgers and asnack size pack of cookies with a cuppa!..miight start putting my eating on here again?.. i found that helped??..ah what the hell, start it from today.....

Pinky's starting weight 14st 1lbs 6th Jan 08

RGPargy - 18st 11.5lbs
Ria - 18st 4lbs
PinkChick - 14st 1 lb
