'tis never too late

welcome aboard.

RGChristmasPargy · 13/12/2008 23:08

Hi Marla, welcome!

Ria - seriously no dieting this end either. I have no idea why.....

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 13/12/2008 23:21

My DH got a job

so we can afford christmas, just no time now to go shopping.

I am giving up relaxing until after christmas now. I just can't cope with any more than I have to, so I'm afraid food preparation is low on my list of priorities, so long as the kids are getting meat, fruit and veg (and TBH, looking at DS2 in the bath tonight his poorliness has made him all ribs, so as much yorkshire puds, dumplings and stodgy milky puddings as I can get into them the better)

My parents go away for 2 months after christmas, so that will be my motivation (as it is every year), on 2 Jan (hopefully family day out/picnic & takeaway on NYD)

RGChristmasPargy · 14/12/2008 00:15

Fantastic news about DH's job Ria! What a relief for you!

Enjoy your Christmas - you deserve it!

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 17/12/2008 15:16

DS2 on ABs now

Have to visit PILs tomorrow

my Mum has taken over christmas day entertaining because I couldn't cope

DM&F are buying me a subscription to SW mag for xmas, and I've bought myself a new workout DVD

I mean business in the new year (again...)

hope you are all enjoying your festivities

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 17/12/2008 15:17

thanks RG!

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 23/12/2008 22:20

If any of you are lurking - happy christmas.

Lets make a date for a re-motivateon 2nd Jan!!!

RGChristmasPargy · 28/12/2008 02:03

Hi everyone!

Hope you've all had a lovely Christmas!

Why 2nd Jan? Isn't 5th Jan more appropriate as it's a Monday??

I've eaten shed loads of naughty Xmas food. Will deffo not be buying as much next year - talk about eyes bigger than!

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 28/12/2008 21:50

hey RG.

hope everyone has had a good christmas.

I know what you mean about the food. Just now I wouldn't mind if I never ate a big meal again. I have even turned down chocolate

I am starting the exercise plan before 2nd Jan. The eating plan is rescheduled for when the cupboards are bare. DS2s birthday is the 8th, that always causes me problems

RGChristmasPargy · 28/12/2008 22:02

Hi Ria!

I'm happy to eat a big meal again, even roasts as i love them! I only had 2 roasts over Christmas lol! It's just the crap that i wish i never bought so much of.

Good luck with the exercise plan Ria!

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 29/12/2008 10:09

Hi RG

I have just received the contents of DMs freezer (they go away for 2 months tomorrow). I have the left-over xmas cakes to collect later. Might be restarting 2nd FEB!!!

RGChristmasPargy · 29/12/2008 13:37

Oh no!! That's not a very good start haha!! We didn't buy a Christmas cake this year because (a) i couldn't be bothered to make one and (b) we're not keen on it anyway!

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 29/12/2008 13:48

we have a tiny xmas cake, and we made gift-sized ones for family. It is the choclate-coated variety (that won't be in date when they get back) that I have to collect. They shouldn't be too much of a problem as the boys will eat them very quickly, but when I'm dying for a treatof the naughty kind, even cake would do

RGPargy · 29/12/2008 13:54

some chocolate coated stuff is lovely and some is not so lovely! We bought an "Extra Special" chocolate log from Asda and i have to say i think it's awful. the icing on the outside (and on the inside for that matter!) is way too rich, even for me. It's probably because it's made with better quality ingredients but it's one thing that i wont be diving down in desperation! Practically unheard of for me not to like something chocolate!!

I'm another newbie who'd like to join this thread - I hope it will give me the willpower that I need to lose some weight. My goal for 2009 is to be able to sit in my seat on the plane when we go on holiday and not need the seatbelt extension thingy.

Last spring, after we'd moved from Essex to Scotland, I managed to go to the gym three times a week, and lost about a stone, but then we moved house again, and another bout of depression struck, and I've barely been back to the gym since - and I think the weight is all back on.

I know I need to do something now, as my left knee is giving out - I'm around the 20stone mark, and my poor joints have had enough - it's got to the point where my knee hurts whenever I walk, and I'm afraid it's going to give out underneath me. I even struggle to go shopping (which is so not like me).

Anyhow - maybe posting here will be the start of a whole new me.

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 30/12/2008 08:31

hi and welcome sunnygirl

happynewRia · 30/12/2008 08:36

ok, new name new Ria (again)

feel like a hippo, my back is twingey and have decided enough is enough and I'm starting TODAY I will just manage the NYE/NYD festivities as best I can, because "managing occasions" is something I need to do, instead of having a full-on binge.

I am though, I have weighed in at 18st 4lb, which is only 2lb more than my last weigh-in on 1 Dec.

RGPargy · 30/12/2008 23:20

Hi Sunnygirl and welcome!!

Ria - you and i are about the same weight then, although at my last weigh in on monday on my scales (post Xmas) i was 18st 6lbs

kslatts · 31/12/2008 14:49

Hi, I would also like to join if that's okay. I weigh between 19 and 20 stone, I'm going to weigh myself tomorrow morning and start tomorrow. I have tried lots of different diets in the past, I think for the whole of January I'm going to try eating healthier food and start exercising, if that doesn't work I'll have to try something else, I want to change my habits for life.

I would eventually like to get down to about 13 stone.

I know what you mean about the seatbelt on planes sunnygirl, I needed one for the first time about 2 years ago, our inlaws live in ireland and we fly quite often, it would be lovely to not have to worry about asking for an extension.

Last summer we went to thorpe and dd1 was about 1cm too short for the fast rides, I promised her I would take her back when she is tall enough and take her on them, dh doesn't like rides so it's down to me, but at the moment I don't think I'd fit in some of the seats.

I would also love to do a parachute jump for charity, my friend did one a couple of years ago but the weight limit is about 15 stone and I was too fat so had to give it a miss.

happynewRia · 31/12/2008 16:45

you look fab in your FB photos RG, I had you at about 14st maybe. So we have more reason to chivvy each other along now - we are diet twins!

welcome kslatts.

Have to confess to a crap day today. It went to pot last night when DS3 wouldn't go to sleep til midnight. DS1 is cooking his first "dinner party" today, and his friend is ill, so I'll have to eat loads to make him feel better, so it might end up being 2nd Jan/Monday after all

anyway, happy new year to you all, enjoy your festivities

and here's to happy new us in 2009!

kslatts · 31/12/2008 20:11

I'm now feeling very motivated for tomorrow.

My dh works shifts, which means I can't attend the same exercise class each week, but first thing tomorrow I'm going to look at what shifts dh is working through January and schedule in some exercise classes.

I am picking dh up from work at 9.40pm tonight so I will not be having any alcohol this evening which is good as I won't be able to use a hangover as an excuse for delaying my plans.

Happy new year to everyone.

RGPargy · 31/12/2008 20:26

Hi Kslatts and welcome

Ria - 14 stone??? hahahaha! The camera has obviously been kind to me in those pictures!!

DD has been playing up the last few nights at bed time. She just doesn't want to go to sleep. I think it's separation anxiety as she's been rather clingy too. I have been in her bedroom for an hour tonight just standing next to the cot and she STILL didn't fall asleep. I gradually edged out of the room and got as far as the door, took my window of opportunity and shot through the door, only to be met with "WWAAAAAAAAAAAA!!". The bloody moo wasn't asleep or had seen me nip out!! Other than bringing her down again and giving her more milk (which i really dont want to do) i have no idea what to do!

last new years we spend up in DD's room rocking her around at the stroke of midnight as she was suffering badly from colic. I really dont want a repeat performance tonight!

Hope you all have a better one than the one i'm ear marked for tonight lol.

Happy new year!

happynewRia · 01/01/2009 08:45

morning all and happy new year.

my night was similar RG, at 8pm (i had taken DS3 to bed) I was joined in bed by a wailing DS2 when the fireworlds started. DS3 then woke with his cough around 11.30. It means I didn't get to eat anything I suppose!

You really do look good in your pics RG

won't be re-starting today as going to Dsis's with the boys as DH working. And will be having a "bit of an evening" with DH too as he didn't get in from work last night til 1am.

Have a great day. x
