MooandPops · 18/11/2008 20:03

Ok Ok you have heard it all before, I have a gazillion stones and pounds to lose but this is me and this is the first time that I really have put my hands up and said enough - 16.5 stones is too much I HAVE TO DO SOMETHING!!!

My best way of eating properly is a low Gi diet but anyone doing any diet is welcome to be my buddy. I have a DS, a DD and a DH all of which keep me on my toes - I love all the things that are bad for me - I slip up all the time - I don't exercise enough and my clothes are too tight.... sound familiar anyone?

Please..;.pretty please?

Hi Girls,

Well, weigh in this morning . . . .

was not as bad as it could have been . . . .

91.2kg

pretty amazing really, since I managed to plough through a box of M&S biscuits, tin of quality street and Celebrations - mostly on my own, as well as far too much wine, cheese and biscuits.

MissNat - DVD sounds good - good luck for Friday.

Mooandpops - how did today go?

Thanks for the advice 12 stone . Will you need to change your name next month then?

missnatalie · 08/01/2009 20:49

Well done TheYearoftheCat at not putting any weigh on over xmas.

Ive added myself to another thread too where everyone is using this website www.foodfocus.co.uk to enter their daily food intake and exercise regimes on. Ive started using it today and its actually quite useful. According to the site, if i follow a diet of 1300 calories per day, i should lose 2lb a week and be 11st by June 14th. Heres hoping that it works .

Im not weighing myself this week as i want to give my new regime time to work. I'll be weighing myself next weds with you guys.

missnatalie · 09/01/2009 13:38

Just done another 1hr 10mins of my DVD and i feel great .

TheYearOfTheCat · 14/01/2009 13:44

well girls - weigh in today.

90.6kg

Missnatalie - I am so that you have the motivation to do your DVDs. I need to do something.

Mooandpops - how are things going? Have you been juicing?

missnatalie · 14/01/2009 14:22

Weigh in today for me too - 14st 1lb (89.4kg). Although at first the scales did say 13st 13lb . Gave that reading 3 times so brought scales downstairs and weighed myself on the kitchen floor and came up at 14st 1lb.

Well done TheYearoftheCat. The DVD is fab. Just worked out again this morning and yesterday morning. I love it and am already starting to feel a difference. My butt is starting to lift, lol .

How are you doing MooandPops

TheYearOfTheCat · 14/01/2009 17:14

Well done! You are very disciplined for moving the scales - I know I would have gone for the lowest reading !

TheYearOfTheCat · 16/01/2009 22:08

Girls - it's Friday!!! Time for some wine!

MooandPops where are you?

MooandPops · 19/01/2009 20:33

Hello the Gals

So sorry not to have written - rubbish I know for am part of a team and as a team we are on this journey together - apologies. Well I hit rock bottom and needed some extra help so have joined weight watchers, what with a weekly weigh in I think its going to be fine...slow but fine. Points system is highly doable given that am doing all the cooking for us all - things seem to be levelling out. My first week I weighed in at a whopping 17st 2lb, came home and cried my eyes out on DH who was lovely. Have lost 2.5 on first week and this week who knows...weigh in day on Thursday evenings now...great to hear that you gals are going well too - all love and hear from you soon

Hey MooandPops, great to hear from you . Glad WW clicks for you. Slow but fine seems very familiar - my weight loss seems agonisingly slow, but it is headed in the right direction. No-one has ever been able to explain to me why it takes so long to lose weight, yet a few weeks off the wagon piles the pounds on so quickly.

Anyway, weigh in today was 90.2kg. My mini-target for Christmas day was 90kg - so hopefully next week I will finally manage it

I had a target of 85kg for St Valentines day - my treat was to buy a new dress. I doubt I will reach my target by then, but I might buy something anyway .

As you know, lack of exercise is (one of) my downfall(s). The Guardian had a great section in it this Saturday about building up running. They have a really good programme for building up to a 5k run over 8 weeks (with tonnes of walking rather than running). I think I am going to give this a go.

Fingers crossed for weigh in later.

missnatalie · 21/01/2009 16:02

Well done TheYearofTheCat. They say that if the weight comes off slower then its more likely to stay off.

Welcome back MooandPops i wondered where you had gone. I did WW for a little while about 4 years ago. I found it too flexible for me. I need a diet thats strict. Good luck with yours.

I cant weigh myself until friday as ive left my scales at my mums. I could weight myself on another set but id rather stick to my WW ones.

Ive been doing m exercise DVD 4-5 times a week for nearly 3w now and i can so see a difference. Although im not loosing drastic amounts of weight, im still toning and building muscle. My ass has never looked so goo in a pair of skinny jeans . Im going to have to but a smaller size soon.

So weigh in for me will be back to fridays. Wish me luck. Im hoping that ive lost at least 2lb.

missnatalie · 23/01/2009 11:00

Yay!! Another 2lb loss. Im now 13st 13lb. Im so happy yo be out of the 14st area

TheYearOfTheCat · 24/01/2009 21:01

Missnatalie I'm just back from 4 days in London, and I am feeling very porky .

I am starting the Guardian running programme on Monday.

missnatalie · 28/01/2009 11:26

Hows the running going TheYearofTheCat. I slipped up on the diet too last week. DP went out together for the 1st time since DS was born 11 months ago!! I ate loads and i mean loads of rubbish. I went back upto 14st 2lb . Have been very good since and today i weighed in at 13st 12lb . Im so happy that at last it all seems to be coming off. Ive been restricting my calories to 1300 per day but still eating whatever i want. Just cutting portion sizes and weighing everything. ive joined this site www.weightlossresources.co.uk and it has helped loads. I helps you to keep track of your daily intake. You can trial it for 24hrs free of charge. Give it a go and tell me what you think.

How are you doing MooandPops ? Hows the WW going? Have you started losing now?

TheYearOfTheCat · 28/01/2009 11:44

Sorry, did I say I was starting running this Monday? I had admirable plans, and brought my kit to work, planning to go at about 6pm, (I was working to 8pm), but it went a bit pear shaped.

I got a coil fitted yesterday, and feel completely grim - not sure if I can even walk to the kitchen! So running unlikely today. Am about to ring NHS direct.

The good news is, weigh in this morning:

89.8kg

Hurray! My Christmas day target was to get to 90kg, and now I'm below it!! This is the lightest I have been for 5 1/2 years! I got down to 90kg twice before, but then had babies.

Thanks for the link MissNat- I'll have a look.

MooandPops I second MissNat - how's WW going?

TheYearOfTheCat · 04/02/2009 13:19

Hi girls,
How is everyone?

Weigh in this morning 89.4kg. Another couple of lbs and I will be under 14 st.

missnatalie · 05/02/2009 13:15

Well done TheYearoftheCat !!

Only 1lb loss for me this week. lb better off than on i say . Had a binge at Pizza Hut on Saturday. Guess taht explains the little amount of loss. Im now at 13st 11lb .

I started taking Lipoban yesterday. Was £5 off at Boots and im a sucker for offers. Im hoping it gives me a bit of a boost and speeds up the weight loss. Its a fat binder. So instead of my body using the fat, it gets binded and i poop it out . Hope it works. I'll let you know.

Looks like theres only me and you left on here TheYearotheCat. Wonder whats happened to MooandPops ??

TheYearOfTheCat · 05/02/2009 18:45

As you say, better lb off than on! Can't weight (sorry, pun) to join you in the 13 stone department!

Mooandpops we're still here . Come back to us when you're ready.

peachface · 06/02/2009 12:48

Hi, I'm new to mumsnet but also need to shift a couple of stone - may I join you? I need some moral support to keep me at it! Have 4 yr old ds and 18mth old ds and have been trying to shift weight for absolutaly AGES but finally something has clicked with me mentally and I know I can do it now. I've lost 5lbs in the last 6 weeks through sinmply cutting out all naughty foods (no chocolate for a month now! Something weird has happened to me because I'm not even interested in eating any either!??), cutting down my portion sizes and following the Hay diet way of eating - not a "diet" as such, just not eating proteins with starches at the same meal. It's helped me from feeling bloated and the weight is SLOWLY creeping off, without me having to starve myself.
I need buddies to help me keep at it because I'm determined not to be 13st something for the rest of my life!

missnatalie · 06/02/2009 17:20

Hi Peachface and welcome to the gang. I know what you mean when you say "something just clicked". I was the same. Its way either carry on as i was and get even bigger or do something about it. I decided to change and become a "yummy mummy" instead of a being a "fatty mummy". Since starting ive gone from 14st 6lb to 13st 11lb. Its not a huge loss but its coming of slowly. Ive found that exercise has made a massive difference too. My body is a lot more toned now. I started exercising to the Claire Richards (girl from steps) DVD whilst DS has his afternoon nap. It was hard at 1st but now i think im kind of addicted to it . We usually do a weigh in on a Weds but feel free to choose any day. Good luck and we are all here to support each other

peachface · 06/02/2009 17:27

Thanks for the welcome missnatalie! Well done on your weight loss so far - you say it's not a huge loss, but it sounds pretty good to me!
Yes, I'm all for weigh in on a Wednesday!I'm delighted to have just dipped to 12st 13lbs (was on Monday and still am today so must have been on Weds too!!haha!)but have flitted between this weight and 13st 3lbs for ages now so if I can just crack this and keep the scales going in the right direction, I'll be ok!
Today's a bit gone-to-pot simply because I'm at home with 18mth old ds who has chest infection and I'm also not feeling so hot so have only had 2 bowls of cereal and a pear today so far and pretty run ragged! Not very healthy in terms of amounts but I can't face anything more today! Like you, I've got the bug now and the thought of me as a slimmer yummy mummy rather than a flabby wish-I wasn't-so-big mumsy mum is a good incentive!
See you soon!

missnatalie · 06/02/2009 19:56

Im using this site. You can do a 24hr free trial. I def recommend it. Have a go and tell me what you think.

missnatalie · 11/02/2009 11:17

Yay 2lb weight loss for me this week. That puts me at 13st 9lb . Its DS 1st birthday today and were going out for a chinease. Im going to try extra hard not to completly pig out

Timeisablindguide · 11/02/2009 12:44

well done! (this is peachface but I changed my name as there were a lot of peachy people about!) Weigh to go girl! (sorry!)
I am 12st 8lbs today. I am gobsmacked but seeing as I've only managed it with cutting down my portions and cutting out all baddies, can only assume that before my stricter regime I must have been packing away a lot of food! Also probably been "helped" by not feeling too great at end of last week and for one day I barely ate anything.

TheYearOfTheCat · 11/02/2009 21:53

Well done MissNat, and welcome Peachface / Timeisablindguide .

Weigh in this morning for me was 89kg.

When I did the online weight conversion from kg to stones, I was disheartened to find that 89kg is 14 st 0.21b - I so want to be able to say I am 13st something! Given that I seem to be losing at a fairly steady rate of 0.4kg a week, perhaps it will be next week .

I shouldn't be too hard on myself, as a few months ago I was 15 1/2 stone! (I was looking at photos of myself from last year - I am so grateful that I have now managed to do something about my weight - long may it last)

In November I set myself a target of reaching 85kg by St Valentine's day. My reward was to buy a new dress for myself. Well, I have had to readjust my goal a bit (unless I am going to lose 4kg in the next 3 days!), but I am pretty pleased with my progress so far, so, unknown to my DH, he has treated me to a new pair of boots for Valentine's day . I am being really disciplined, and won't wear them until Saturday.

My new target to reach 85kg is going to be by my birthday, which is in the 2nd week of April.

Has anyone else had to start digging out their smaller clothes from the 'I will never be skinny enough to wear that again' drawer?

Timeisablindguide · 11/02/2009 22:01

Well done to you TheYearOfThecat- to have shifted over a stone in a few months is fantastic!
