Its really quiet on the weightloss threads at the moment. I've joined a couple of threads but there doesn't seem to be much action on them so I thought I'd start one of my own and see if anyone else is in the same situation.

I'm determined to lose a stone by Xmas and am going to achieve that by basically cutting down on the crap, reducing my evening meal portion, doing some exercise and eating nothing at all after my dinner (I've lost a stone recently but have stayed the same for a good few weeks now)

Thanks Maggs

This will be my first baby - exciting and scary!!

MaggsS · 01/11/2008 15:00

Ahhhhhhhhh!

Good luck. It really is worth it! x

Tyme · 01/11/2008 15:08

Hi everyone! Have had computer probs so haven't been able to get on line.

Well done on those losses!

Congratulations geordie83! How exciting! Hope it all goes smoothly and not too much sickness. I hear low gi is good for that if you start to suffer...

Well, I have lost 4lbs! so thats 6 for me too and 8 more to go. We're getting there, girls!
Dh has been complimenting me lots Its amazing how much of a difference it can make. Well, it is nearly 1/2 a stone

Maggs, the juices are really nice. I haven't been doing it for the last couple of days as I ran out of apples and didn't have enough fruit for juices but dh has gone shopping and I put 4 bags of apples on the list. I'm going to start again when he gets back.

Keep going ladies! Its the start of November so lets really go for it for this month and we'll be slinky for the start of Dec.

I am hoping to have that stone bagged by the end of the month

Good to see you back Tyme. Well done on the weight loss.

Started juicing a few days ago. Have got a garage full of fruit and veg

Really enjoying them surprisingly. Bit like you I only have them during the day and then a small meal in the evening. Drinking loads of water and hot lemon.

Been on the Wii fit lots and that shows a weight loss of another 2lbs but I will have official weigh in on Boots scales next week.

Bought a gorgeous Monsoon dress in our local charity shop this week for £2.99. It's a size 12 and a bit tight but my aim is to get into it and be able to breath!!!!!!!

Let's keep it going and keep supporting each other.

We will be slim and beautiful by Christmas

whyme2 · 02/11/2008 22:23

What's the hot water and lemon jiuce thing? Does it curtail the appetite or just make you feel healthier? Just curious as to any 'tricks' that might help me eat less. Sorry you've been lonely on here maggs, I don't get much time to read and post due to DCs. But I am with you all. I'm feeling postive about this week - children back to school, so more exercise and less time to pick at food. Last weigh in was 14 st 6.

JustKeepSwimming · 03/11/2008 06:40

Sure my weight loss will have been totally undone by MILs yummy chocolate cake (and there's still lots left!) and a dinner out with DH last night (prawns in sauce & steak in sauce , no pudding though!).
So will have to work doubly hard now. Hoping to get more walking in this from this week, to bf group, to pre-school & to playgroups. As long as it stops raining....

come on you we can all do it

geordie83 · 03/11/2008 20:40

Thanks Maggs!

colie · 03/11/2008 23:27

geordie83

Congratulations on your pregnancy.

Well, I have been really bad since Friday when we travelled back to scotland. I had a curry and loads of chocolate and wine on saturday. Sunday just kept on eating the chocs. Today a bit better but still had pizza for dinner.

I will definately start again tomorrow. Dreading weighing myself on wednesday morning as I have a feeling my 3lbs maybe back on again.

colie · 04/11/2008 22:49

Did better today. Although dinner was going to be healthy but ended up putting too much on for the kids so had to eat the left over chips and fish fingers.

Haven't eat any chocolate though so that is excellent.

Where is everyone?

Will report in on my weight in the morning. I have now taken to weighing myself naked, not a pleasant site, particularily at 6 or 7 am. I think this is cheating as I originally weighed myself with my clothes on. Might just keep pj's on /

Think I am now just blethering as don't think anyone is out there, and have a thread all to myself

Hello! I'm still here. I've been very busy at work for the last couple of days so haven't been able to post.

How did you do Colie? I weigh myself naked too. Every morning before my shower
My theory is that thats your true weight anyway.

Whyme - hot lemon and water is supposed to be cleansing and it helps as you're 'doing something' and keeping yourself hydrated thefore less likely to snack. I think it helps me (when I have it!)

I undid some of my good work on Sunday as I ended up having a total binge day. I won't say what I ate as it was so much and I can't remember now but it did involve pizza, crisps and chocolate
Anyway, thats behind me now and I've been v.good for the last couple of days so hopefully, I'm back on track for that stone

We can still do this - its not too late. That stone can still be shifted if we put our minds to it

geordie - oops, forgot to say congrats from me too!

hi colie & tyme

i'm here, the scales upstairs i weigh myself on naked in the mornings (not every day!) gave me 64.3kg this morning (that's 10.2 stone but not sure how many lbs 0.2 is...)

the wii fit i do downstairs, with clothes, in the evenings once dcs are in bed, will do tonight and see what it says.

more importantly, i am wearing jeans i couldn't wear before today

it's coming off, slowly....

colie · 05/11/2008 13:39

JustKeepSwimming- well done on getting ito denims you previously couldn't.

Tyme- My willpower also fades at weekends. You have the right attitude, just to start again. I am trying to adopt your attitude, as had a terrible weekend.

Anyhow, good news, think I lost 1 pound or even possibly 1 and a half pounds. (keep talking myself into the latter). I still have 6 weeks until my xmas night out so if I manage a pound every week until then I will be delighted.

Think I have lost 4 or 5 pounds so far.

This thread is definately helping me as previously I have always got fed up after a couple of weeks and just caved in to eating rubbish at night.

Pleased others are trying along with me.

JustKeepSwimming · 05/11/2008 21:20

10,4 tonight

onwards and downwards

colie · 06/11/2008 10:36

JustKeepSwimming - well done. How much excersing have you been doing? I have not been doing any at all really.

Have put a belt on my denims today. Not that they would have fallen down if no belt. They are definately loser than before .

Keeping up the naked weighing thing, scales read much better with nothing on . I weigh myself most days but if I have a bad day then tend not to weigh myself the next.

Don't think I had any chocolate or rubbish at all yesterday. Bit annoyed that dh hasn't commented on my new eating habits or on the fact taht I have lost 4 pounds. He hasn't even noticed..

Going now to make a pot of vegetable soup for lunch.

How is everyone else doing?

MaggsS · 06/11/2008 12:10

Hello Everyone!

Had a house full of poorly people so not been around much.

How are you all?

Well, I have reached my first half stone so feeling pleased with myself.

Need to get back on the juices and excercise as I have been a bit naughty recently

JustKeepSwimming · 06/11/2008 15:45

well done Maggs

Colie - none really, i'm not an exercise fan
try to walk rather than drive to playgroups, etc. but with the rubbish weather that doesn't happen all the time.
your bad dh not noticing! mine has been v complimentary so far.
tricky though as he has more weight to lose than me and isn't doing well at all, so i can't say the same back!
he has NO willpower though and drinks/eats too much at work/with workmates.
being at home has its advantages!

whyme2 · 07/11/2008 10:35

Hi everyone,
You all seem to be weathering the storms well. I haven't lost weight this week but i haven't gained either. DH was v unhelpful with his gift of maltesers(big box). It would be easier if he joined me. The only exercise I do is walking and I feel better now. Can wear a pair of pre pregnancy jeans for the first time so it must be worth it.

Tyme · 07/11/2008 14:54

Well done Justkeepswimming, Colie and Whyme on the looser clothes! Its a brilliant feeling, isn't it? Just keep that in mind before you start reaching for those fatty snacks!

Well done Maggs on your 1/2 stone. You and me seem to be at the same level - I lost a lb too!

Colie - Seeing as it takes about 3500 cals to gain 1lb of fat, you won't generally undo, say, a 5lb weightloss in one binge so its usually fine to write it off and carry on again the next day. Life's too short to diet strictly every day! You just need to do it 80% of the time

I haven't done as much exercise as I'd like to but a I tend to either go to the gym, do a dvd or go for long walks.

Lets try to have a good weigh in next week ladies! Keep focussed and those clothes will be literally falling off us!

It takes hard work but you know its worth it

OP posts:
whyme2 · 08/11/2008 22:19

thyme - thanks for the info about gaining 1lb of fat. that makes me feel better after today. It was too bad to even mention here. I think I need to get my husband to support me more . .

Tyme · 09/11/2008 14:52

Thats a good idea Whyme. Dh is really supportive when I tell him that I get down about my weight and he's got to help me as much as he can - and he does.
He now knows not to offer me any food if he's snacking and I did ask him if he would stop me if he saw me eating rubbish but he hasn't!
He'll look after the kids so I can make time to exercise and sometimes we'll go to the park and he'll stay with the kids while I do a few laps of power walking.

I've had a bit of a bingey morning. Lots of toast, cheese and biscuits. Not good but I've just been shopping and bought lots of healthy stuff. I am going to do 3 days of soup and smoothies as I'm feeling very bloated.

Someone on another thread mentioned slimming4mums website. I checked it out and it looks quite good. Its a bit slower than I would like and I'm not sure if it actually works as it seems a strange way to diet but check it out. The poster said it worked really well for her.

Lets give it a good shot for this week. Lets work hard and see some good results and looser clothes!

JustKeepSwimming · 09/11/2008 19:40

Well Wii Fit says back to 10.5 but i did eat with the boys at their teatime so not too worried.

Better news - am wearing other trousers down from the lost i haven't worn in over a year! AND they say size 10!!!
They are a generous 10 it must be said but still.....

colie · 10/11/2008 16:33

Had a bad weekend again, tend to be very quiet when being bad (bit of the child comes out in me really).

Anyhow, feel great after reading all the positives posts recently on this thread.

Tyme, I liked the 3,500 calorie fact. That is spurring me on. Will have a look at the website.

Justkeepswimming- well done on a size 10. I bought a xmas dress yesterday, which I will take back, but it was a 10. Managed to squeeze into it, but had to stop breathing during the process. Is breathing essential on a night out . It is going back as it may well rip if I have to eat a xmas meal whilst wearing it!!

Have been good today so hoping wednesdays weigh in will bring good news.

Tyme · 12/11/2008 15:52

How's everyone doing?

I'm doing ok. Have been good since Sun and sticking mostly to smoothies and soups during the day and a very small dinner in the evening. Think my bloatedness is going.

Hope you're all doing well and not slacking

We can still drop a few lbs and look a lot better by Xmas. Don't give up now!
