Its really quiet on the weightloss threads at the moment. I've joined a couple of threads but there doesn't seem to be much action on them so I thought I'd start one of my own and see if anyone else is in the same situation.

I'm determined to lose a stone by Xmas and am going to achieve that by basically cutting down on the crap, reducing my evening meal portion, doing some exercise and eating nothing at all after my dinner (I've lost a stone recently but have stayed the same for a good few weeks now)

Onestonetogo i used to weigh in weekly at Scottish Slimmers and lost 4st. I reckon i have put on at least a stone

I don't go to the class anymore (we are skint)so have fallen off the wagon so to speak. Dd2 still not great atm but not as bad as yesyerday so fingers crossed i get down today.

CatMandu · 18/10/2008 13:40

Well done Maggs, keep it up.

I'm feeling pleased with myself, we went out last night and I did have two glasses of wine, but stopped at that (and could have had an awful lot more). However we did have a good old dance, so I'm hoping I danced off a lot of calories.

This morning I did 30 mins on the wii fit and was pleased to see that although I haven't lost any weight since last time I stepped foot on it (about 6 weeks ago) I haven't put any on. I was convinced that I'd gained about another 4 lbs. Can't remember what the weight was though so I'll have a look tomorrow.

I dug out my Paul McKenna make you thin cd and put it on my i-pod and feel really positive having listened to it, so am hoping to find the time to do that every day too.

Tonight will be hard though, we have a familiy tradition of watching x-factor and ploughing our way through a box of chocs. DH and I usually have a glass of wine or two. Fingers crossed.

Can I join please ??

I keep trying and failing to lose anything.

Have made sure that this weeks food shop only includes healthy stuff though or stuff thats not too bad, so hopefully I will do better now.

I need to stop eating between meals unless it is something healthy, and cut down drastically on bread.

IllegallyBrunette · 18/10/2008 13:43

My starting weight is 9 stone 9.

zaksmummy · 18/10/2008 13:47

hi can i join too please have more than one to lose also but one by xmas would be great and the other 3after would be good too

solo · 18/10/2008 14:05

I'd like to join in too ~ quietly. Two stones for me

MaggsS · 18/10/2008 14:32

So Catmandu you also have a Wii fit that has been gathering dust like mine

What sort of excercise do you do on it?

I love the hula hoop, step and jogging (only a short distance though) Must admit I avoid the muscle workouts but also got quite addicted to the balance games.

You have convinced me to get on it for 30 mins this afternoon as soon as kids have watched there DVD.

Also agreee that Saturday nights are hell for dieters. we love the X Factor and normally have a bottle of wine and a take away. DH has mentioned chinese but I am trying hard to talk him out of it. my find it hard to resist the wine though.

CatMandu · 18/10/2008 15:07

When we got the wii fit (just as it was released) I went on it every day and lost loads of weight, partly the exercise and partly eating well. Then we went on a cruise during half term (thank you MIL) and all went wrong.

I like the boxing the best and step, but I wish it would get harder the hardest level isn't quite tough enough for me. I do the jogging and free step sometimes, but they are very boring. Balance games are very addictive! Am hoping to get back into doing it everyday.

Hello Illegal, Zaksmummy & Solo good to see you, lets all hope we'll be talking near to christmas about our new outfits to match our new figures.

gothicmama · 18/10/2008 15:24

Furball · 18/10/2008 16:24

catmandu - choppped carrot, pepper and celery and any other veg you fancy (I am one of the rare few that like raw cauliflower and mushrooms) are good with low fat dips for crunch factor and mindless nibbling.

gothicmama · 18/10/2008 16:40

nowweare4 well done on 3lbs I did not see your thread I was looking for one as felt there would be one sorry

MaggsS · 18/10/2008 17:06

Agree with furball on the veg ( I like raw mushrooms)Grapes are also great to nibble on.

Have just done 30mins on the Wii fit and I am knackered!!

But I was surprised to see I had lost 3lbs since I last had a go on it 2 weeks ago so am really pleased.

Onestone - good idea. I don't think everyone has got there start weight yet but they can add it when they do. We'll try to update on Fri. Is that a good weigh-in day for everyone?

It sounds like everyone has started off brilliantly. Lets keep the momentum going

I've stuck to no junk in the evening so far AND my 1/2hr exercise a day vow.

I went out for a 45min walk on Sat and did Davina dvd yesterday. I'll either do a dvd, walk or stepper today depending how the day pans out.

Onestonetogo: starting weight 10st 7lb
Tyme: starting weight 11st

Please can I join. i have about 3 stone to lose but one by christmas is a good start. I have to cut out snacks and also eat less generally so I did a 'healthy' food shop yesterday I weigh 14 st 8.

MaggsS · 20/10/2008 11:34

Just back from town and the big weigh in at Boots.

Last Monday - 11st 7lbs
This Monday - 11st 2lbs.

I cannot believe I have lost 5lbs in one week

I have tried really hard. Hardly any wine and I was having one or two glasses everynight. I've got back on my Wii fit and even went out on a bike ride in the forest with the kids yesterday.

I feel better already!!!!!!!!

kristatwin · 20/10/2008 11:47

That is brilliant, you have give me some incentive, off to the gym for a hour 1/2 session this afternoon. MaggsS what have you been doing, any tips !!

MaggsS · 20/10/2008 12:18

I did drink everynight but I have cut that right down.I think I only had 3 small glasses last week.
I always eat breakfast now. Normally special K and skimmed milk and some fruit.
If I want to snack I have fruit or a yoghurt or a bag of rivitas or the new limbos.
Lunch is normally beans or scrambled egg on toast or sometimes soup and a roll. I have changed to brown bread and cut right back on it. I don't even put any spread on the toast now.
I use sweetners in coffee or tea with skimmed milk.
Tea time is tricky as DH gets home at around 6pm and I normally put our 3 DC's to bed before we have our dinner. i used to pick on there leftovers but now it goes straight in the bin.
I try to keep a box of carrot sticks, celery, baby toms etc in thr fridge just incase I get tempted to eat something I shouldn't and lastly I try and drink warm water with lemon. At least 6 mugs a day. You do get quite a taste for it.
If I do want choccy I have had a 2 fingered Kit-Kat which is only 107 cals.
I hope that helps and I don't sound too smug but I am so pleased with myself today i am determined to go on.

kingprawntikka · 20/10/2008 12:27

Can i join you too. I weigh 10st 3 and would like to be 9 st 7 or less. We have a big family party to go to a couple of weeks before Christmas so i really need to make an effort for the next few weeks. i would be very glad of some encouragement.

kristatwin · 20/10/2008 12:46

MaggsS, good advice, will try the carrot sticks and celery thing for snacking, joining WW on wednesday !!

MaggsS · 20/10/2008 12:49

Good for you kristatwin. I am trying to do this on my own... (well with some help from you all) I am too scared to walk in to a ww meeting on my own.
