Welcome ladies of the Due August 2008 thread. Today is your day to begin REDEFINING your Post-Baby Body.

Please take a moment to STATE your SHORT TERM goal(s) and to STATE your LONG TERM goal(s) for overall health. This may include a weight you would like to reach, a fitness level you would like to attain, or size you would like to fit into.

I ask that you post at least twice a week. First to state what you plan to do during the week to reach your above goal(s). Then an end of the week post to let us know how you faired. BE HONEST! This is a SUPPORT THREAD so if you didn't find time to run a mile, admit it. Maybe someone else did the same and needs a running partner...thus a MEET-UP a might solve the problem. If you went above and beyond your expectations for the week, tell us and be an inspiration.

Now let's get started.

Ladies I read yesterday that the NUMBER 1 thing needed for an individual to achieve their fitness/weight goal is SUPPORT.

GO HOT MAMA MAMAS!!!!
GO HOT MAMA MAMAS!!!!

longwayfromhome · 06/10/2008 11:07

previous aims:
don't think I managed any of them

this week:
lets just start with no crisps

cyteen:
Tom sleeps in his buggy too - this is fab, we do loads of walking, the only problem is that walking in to town with him does not get the household jobs done while he is asleep!

sarahnh · 06/10/2008 11:32

I've lost 2 pounds huge pom pom wave!!!! only another 8 to go!!! something tells me its going to take a while!!! well done to everyone else xxx

VintageGardenia · 06/10/2008 18:14

Well done!!

I have nothing to report I think I need to make my goals more bite sized and tighter like TS's I can't even remember what I was supposed to be doing.

Except losing a shitload of weight .

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 06/10/2008 18:21

well done Sarahnh

I have not done very well on the water front today, Only had 3 glasses.

I would love to invest in a personal trainer.
I know my weightloss/tone up ia acheivable, I just need a kick up the backside.

was great when me and dh went to gym, because we urged each other on.
Now the gym is at home, we can no longer get time to use it together.

Oh I can come up with one excuse after another

TwilightSurfer · 06/10/2008 21:36

Sarah you are right on track!

No1 3 8oz glasses equals 24oz. That's GREAT in my book. I'm sure you've had other things to drink today as well so you are doing just fine.

VG LOL let's take a look at your last goal post(i'll preface it for you)...

Long Term Goal:
Loose 2 stones (28lbs)

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 06/10/2008 21:37

oh No1 if you have a YMCA/YWCA in your neighborhood they offer trainers for free (sometimes) to members. I've used one here..YEARS ago. Might consider doing it again.

OP posts:
VintageGardenia · 06/10/2008 22:06

OK TS this week (Monday to Monday):

  1. Drink 2 litres of water every day
  2. Drink fresh juice for brekker
  3. Walk every day with the pram minimum half an hour
  4. Do pelvic floors
  5. Swim 3 times this week - minimum 20 lengths per session, optimum would be 30 lengths.

Howzat?

poppysocks · 06/10/2008 23:42

Bad food day here. Had lovely meal with DH though - steak with dauphinoise potatoes and veg, followed by sticky toffee pudding. Yum.

In fact, as we're away from home from tomorrow and staying with my Dad and then on hol, I won't be able to weigh myself, and will be eating other people's food and then on holiday, it's unlikely to be virtuous. No scales either for obsessive monitoring - probably a good thing though! On the other hand though, someone else's house, therefore no free access to unhealthy snacks and hopefully a v. active holiday.

Will report back on the damage/benefit in a fortnight!

P.S. Wedding's on Saturday and clearly won't have made my fanciful target of 9 stone. Oh well...Hopefully everyone will just admire the baby instead of noticing.

TwilightSurfer · 07/10/2008 02:08

VG that is a splendid plan.

Poppy best wishes.

In the middle of dressing the small fellas so just a quick check-in. I lost two pounds ...
woohoo! I'm off to do hairdressing with DD now, then shoe shops and coat shops (the amount of chicanery involved in persuading her to get dressed and out the door should be illegal).

TwilightSurfer · 07/10/2008 10:56

Sibh, well done!

OP posts:
VintageGardenia · 07/10/2008 11:55

Well done Sibh!! Bitter envy, though.

Have had juice of following recipe:

cucumber
spinach
celery
wheatgrass powder stuff

by Christ it was disgusting.

Have also had

apple
carrot
ginger

yum yum

Anyone got any fab juice combos?

Sazz good work on the exercise front! Plus 2 miles with a pram is more than 2 miles alone.

OK I have made a virtually no calorie soup which is pretty palatable - it is just carrots and parsnips and stock cube and salt and pepper and garam masala. I have a bucket of it in the fridge for weak moments.

I feel sure I'll find it an adequate substitute for a Wispa .

sarahnh · 07/10/2008 18:34

well done sazzle and sibh!!!

Very impressed with your soup making vg, not so healthy here..

managing to be good during the day, weetabix for breakfast and crackers and philly really light for lunch but then things go rapidly downhill with glasses of rose and peanuts ..

still managing my exercises every morning and at least one walk a day with the pram.. god this is hard work!!!

I loved my juicer when i had dd, It hasnt been out of cupboard for months and months

VG

Apple, carrot, orange

orange,carrot, strawberry

apple,pear

tried broccoli in a juice once gross.

So my slow cooker came this week, cant believe I have never had one till now.
Meal planning is easier and tea time is less stressful.

I really want to go swimming.
I am hoping to start horse riding again next week, as part of my fitness regime.
My mum took on my horse but has done nothing with him for a few years now.
He is just her pet
Bloody expensive pet as my step dad says.
So she has 4 others and only one of them rideable others too young.
So thinking of just booking in at local school due to not having the time to work with mums till they are fit to ride oh and more importantly adequately insured.

So I guess more walking and back in the gym.

Sibh · 07/10/2008 23:39

The wheatgrass sounds vile, VG.

My own regime involves tucking a two-stone kicking and screaming toddler under your arm, climbing the stairs. Firing said toddler into the cot. Repeat several times a week.

Should I alternate arms to ensure even muscle development?

TwilightSurfer · 08/10/2008 00:02

I made a blueberry, strawberry, banana, orange juice thingie a few months back. Just fresh fruits and then added oj until it was the drinky drink style i wanted.

Also made a shake with bananas, strawberries & choc icecream plus soy protien powder. YUM!!!!

OP posts:
VintageGardenia · 08/10/2008 07:32

You should alternate arms and at weekends pick toddler up with toes, if prehensile.

Got whizzy hand blender thing (I knackered the motor on mine few weeks ago) so banana smoothie for brekker. Wheatgrass powder I will sprinkle for the birds.

No1 tell about the slow cooker?? Is it like a pressure cooker?

TwilightSurfer · 08/10/2008 10:45

slow cooker
i have three (different sizes) and use them often.

gigglegirl · 08/10/2008 17:45

not doing great so far!

Have ordered raincover and new axle for pushchair but they still haven't arrived!

Have walked to school one out of possible 9 times so far and without the pushcjair

haven't done any of the others so really need to get moving - literally.

Am hoping for a knock at the door at 8am with raincover and axle dellivery or else I will have to go in the car tomorrow as well!

oh and had starwberry tart from gorgeous bakery for elevensis!

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 08/10/2008 20:17

vg its great only got it last week, so only used it 3 times.
Done stew/casserole
Bolognaise which i then made/used it for lasagne
chicken curry.
Bought a recepi book too
Saves time bung all in in morning, ready for vtea time. easy.
Good for meal planning, helps to stay on track and be healthy.
