Welcome ladies of the Due August 2008 thread. Today is your day to begin REDEFINING your Post-Baby Body.

Please take a moment to STATE your SHORT TERM goal(s) and to STATE your LONG TERM goal(s) for overall health. This may include a weight you would like to reach, a fitness level you would like to attain, or size you would like to fit into.

I ask that you post at least twice a week. First to state what you plan to do during the week to reach your above goal(s). Then an end of the week post to let us know how you faired. BE HONEST! This is a SUPPORT THREAD so if you didn't find time to run a mile, admit it. Maybe someone else did the same and needs a running partner...thus a MEET-UP a might solve the problem. If you went above and beyond your expectations for the week, tell us and be an inspiration.

Now let's get started.

Red hair sounds cool TS go for it!!! No make over here, i'm lucky if my hair gets washed once a week here let alone a cut and colour!!!

TwilightSurfer · 01/10/2008 15:45

{{{cue the theme sound from psycho}}}
This chica is in desperate need of a beauty makeover!!!

No makeup here either...unless spit up counts

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 01/10/2008 16:00

well done poppy thats fantastic.
TS I am having my hair done tomorow and eye brow wax.
I really want red hair again, not had it for about 8 years now.
But there is an advert for hair colour on tv where she buys a pair of red shoes and her hair is similar bright red. I want that colour.

re clothes I have just been and bought some new bits to cheer myself up.

lol at new spit up cosmetics

cyteen · 01/10/2008 16:08

i almost managed to put on make up today...oh well, put my contact lenses in at least.

however, have just productively used 5 minutes of joe's wriggle-in-the-basket time to go through my clothes and chuck the majority away. farewell, ill-fitting tshirts! so long, black skirt covered in white cat hair! take a hike, crappy bra from m&s! from now on it's an attempt at grown up clothes for me.

that reminds me, i need to wash my one remaining pair of jeans before tomorrow as they're now all i have to wear

VintageGardenia · 02/10/2008 08:57

Well done poppy! Good for you.

Re. wardrobe update, etc, if I get where I'm going I'll reward myself with new stuff. If I fail my punishment is to stay in falling down maternity jeans till the end of time...

cyteen · 02/10/2008 10:34

Hmm, not sure about that plan VG - you might start thinking that if you're in maternity wear, you might as well get pregnant again...

TwilightSurfer · 02/10/2008 13:01

NO YOU DIDN'T!

OP posts:
FoghornLeghorn · 04/10/2008 08:54

Just checking in very briefly, DH rushing me to get ready !
I'm now weighing 12st 2lb so have just overa stone to go to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight - have wedding t go to 4 weeks today which i'd ideally like to be 11st for but I wont be, so just need to get as close as poss !

Glad to see everyone else is doing so well

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 04/10/2008 21:53

TS I would like to get pregnant again I think.
Well if I could skip the pregnancy part and just have the baby that would be good

Me and Marcus got our six week check on tuesday.
Bring on the workout.
Bring on the energy to do it

TwilightSurfer · 04/10/2008 22:06

No1 with your build (i checked your photos) if you're not where you want to be then it won't be long. What kind of time frame do you want between DC2 & DC3? My suggestion would be to work on your midsection making sure to correct any diastis first....the more pregnancies you have the more damage you have there and the harder it gets to fix if you don't fix it between each pregnancy.

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 04/10/2008 22:32

Great job Foghorn!
Tell DH to stop rushing you.

As for losing more than 14 pounds in 4 weeks ...it is possible BUT the healthy route is 1.5 to 2lbs a week. You're goal puts you at 3.5 or 4 lbs a week. Be careful.

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 04/10/2008 22:32

Why is it I NEVER type the proper from of YOUR/YOU'RE!!!

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 04/10/2008 23:18

LOL and it appears I don't know the difference between form and from either....

FFS where's the booze!!

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 05/10/2008 15:25

I have to share my EXCITEMENT!!!
DH has agreed to make a change.
He has agreed to try and loose twenty pounds. Based on the BMI chart he should ultimately loose 50...so twenty is a good start.

I worry about him all the time so this is INCREDIBLE!! He has a natural slim build but at present he's carrying a spare tire (tractor tire) around his midsection.

He needs to outlive me.
I'm glad he's decided to get with the program!!

TS you are doing so well I am

I am such a put off till tomoro person I need to change this attitude.

Your right regarding working on mid section.
everything underneath went back within a week but I just feel flabby/jelly.on the outside.
and feel very weak too.

As for gap between any more children dh says no more ever.
If we did I would do it straight away.
Even though some days I just want to switch off.
I have not been doing very well on the water front lately. I normally drink lots but struggle to make time.

That is my goal for this week.
drink more,use car less.

Thanks No1.

Sounds like your goal this week should be easy to achieve. I've been filling a water bottle every morning for my water goal. I don't waste time chilling it as water absorbs faster when room temp or warmer.

ok I need to join, I want to join I can def talk the talk but can I walk the walk!

I weigh more than all of you I think - a shameful 15 stone 2 pounds. I am 5ft 9 but still. Would like to lose 3.5 stone.

Five kids in four years means I am flabby flabby flabby, feel unattractive and depressed as used to be a size 8 and competitive swimmer. No illusions of getting back to that but toned and happy would be nice.

Not going to start with the food thing this week as have too much crap in the house! So here goes....

Long Term Goals:

  1. To lose 3.5 stone by next Christmas
  2. To give my kids and def my girls positive body image and healthy eating skills
  3. To be fitter (able to run without having a heart attack!)
  4. To be more toned (unable to make a parachute for my entire family out of the sectionso of my tummy!)
  5. To stop snacking and using food as a crutch
  6. Have a new outfit and be pleased with what I look like for friends wedding on 11th April

Short Term Goals (this week):

  1. Buy raincover and new axle for Phil and Teds so I can get back to walking to school
  2. Walk to school and back at least 8 out of the possible 15 times with the Phil and Teds (will mean pushing 3.5 stone so fitting really as that is what I want to lose!)
  3. Plan meals and shopping for next week
  4. Drink 1 litre of water a day
  5. Find abs roller thing that is hidden under bed somewhere and use it twice
  6. Find fitness DVDs and get rid of the ones won't use - do one of them
  7. Investigate Wii Fit opton and also find out about slendertone belt thing that friend gave me which has sat in the drawer for two years!

Ok that will do!

cyteen · 06/10/2008 09:24

TS yay for you and your DH My other half is also slim but with a little extra round the waist - he is working on getting rid but finds it v frustrating that it's so hard to shift.

am planning on a lot more walking with pram this week after my marathon walkabout on thursday. i felt great afterwards and the baby loves it too since he actually goes to sleep So lots of walking into town: today we're looking at coats for me and cots for him, tomorrow going to a mum+baby coffee morning, thursday is parent and baby cinema day...it's an hour's walk into town, that's got to be doing some good.

off to a wedding this weekend, hoorah! hopefully also getting an evening off with DP while the grandparents mind the baby

TwilightSurfer · 06/10/2008 10:54
