Welcome ladies of the Due August 2008 thread. Today is your day to begin REDEFINING your Post-Baby Body.

Please take a moment to STATE your SHORT TERM goal(s) and to STATE your LONG TERM goal(s) for overall health. This may include a weight you would like to reach, a fitness level you would like to attain, or size you would like to fit into.

I ask that you post at least twice a week. First to state what you plan to do during the week to reach your above goal(s). Then an end of the week post to let us know how you faired. BE HONEST! This is a SUPPORT THREAD so if you didn't find time to run a mile, admit it. Maybe someone else did the same and needs a running partner...thus a MEET-UP a might solve the problem. If you went above and beyond your expectations for the week, tell us and be an inspiration.

Now let's get started.

Poppy you have been excused from any redefining until Saturday.

Got up early to start Wii fitting... couldn't figure out which channel it is on (wasn't working the way it normally connects) and DH at work, so no fitting for me this morning .

But walked for 2 miles yesterday evening with the boys on their bikes by the sea (I love this lovely September weather) so feeling marginally better.

Oh - on the Wii subject, it also tells you your Wii fit age... think mine was about 46 . I kept shouting at the TV - 'I've just had a baby!' with DH saying, 'yes but it can't hear you...' SO WHAT?!.

dizzydixies · 26/09/2008 09:02

ataraxis am tempted to have a shot on it this morning but dd2 is here and she is a thug and will stamp on it - probably best left till evening or empty house at least

ataraxis · 26/09/2008 09:30

ha dizzy - DS2 (thug also as you may have gathered) was there when I first set mine up. He wanted a go as well - came in with a BMI underweight (by around 3lb) with a wii fit age of around 50! only because he wouldn't stand still and couldn't grasp the concept of some of the 'tests'. Would definitely advise a child free zone.

CaptainCaveman · 26/09/2008 10:18

ds1s also thug-like and has set himself up on the wiifit - he is 4! can't go on it with him around as he steps on the board at any opportunity

well i managed to get dd2 out for a nice walk today where she didn't cry or need to be held.. also did my tummy and leg exercises...

very health slice of brown bread (no butter) and fruit and fibre cereal bar ( notice my continuous intake of firbre?!!)... however i did have 3 huge glasses of fizzy rose last night and lots of salted peanuts ...

Does anyone else find that its quite easy to be good during the day but as soon as evening comes, all good intentions fall my the wayside???

Oh and my dad brought loads and loads of irish chocolate for me, its in the fridge and every time i go there i have a square or 2

Hi all

thank TS for setting this up.

My short term goal is to lose 5kg I am currently 82kg and my max. optimum weight is 77kgs. then would love to lose another 5 eventually to be the weight i was when i met dh 12 years ago!

Am currently 14kgs lighter than the month I conceived so pregnancy was good for me!

I need to stop eating reeses peanut butter cup and kitkat peanut (can you tell what I missed in pregnancy?) and stop the fizzy drinks - the make me retain water! say me glugging a can of coke

so more water, regular meals, start a food diary to see exactly what I am eating and drinking!

and that's me done for now.

oopsacoconut · 26/09/2008 14:03

ahh that route link was fab - dd and I arewalking 1.7 miles to town and back daily sometimes twice!

oopsacoconut · 26/09/2008 14:06

fhlh i am 5ft8

scuse typos dd sleeping on boob and only 1 hand free

LadyOfWaffle · 26/09/2008 14:07

Hello all! Quickly just putting this on my threads to come back to this evening (baby feeding on lap) What an excellent idea though! x

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 26/09/2008 16:02

oops I find keeping a food diary really helps.
I got into the habbit of this when I last went to WW.
I even find myself counting points too.

Have lapsed today though as I visited the crisps.
Oh well only one packet, I normally have a packet every day.
Snacked on carrots again all day.

Wish I was near any of you ladies to join in walking about.

cyteen · 26/09/2008 17:00

i would like to announce to the world that i am wearing my pre-pregnancy jeans and they even feel a little loose

this is why my goal is to get fit rather than lose weight - my body doesn't really change too much, it just gets saggier. basically, i want to look good naked

LadyOfWaffle · 26/09/2008 18:00

A few moments peace finally

Ok, Short term goal... I can't think of one at the moment, except maybe lose 10% of weight. Long term goal is size 8/10, and about 9st and be generally fitter and less flabby. Kind of everything really!

What works (or did work in the past) for DH and I is diet every day except Fridays, so when we crave something bad we can just think "only x days until Friday" instead of always thinking "only once won't hurt" etc., which ends up being all the time! There is only so much junk you can eat in one day anyway! I was going to try the 2 bowls/2 weeks special K thing but it leaves me more hungry than if I eat nothing at all! OK, short term goal then now for me - 2 bowls/2 weeks. Exercise is hard for me as I have depression really bad and just don't go out by myself... I obviously do sometimes but it's a real battle with myself. I have though twice this week which is massive for me, so over the next week I am going to try and keep going out. DS starts pre-school on Monday 2 afternoons which means I have a little walk down there - that's really all the exercise I can do as i'm still v. low on iron and sore stitches still! I may look up some simple exercises to do at home though, more toning things. But next week or so it's 1) special K diet 2) Bad Fridays 3) Keep going out for walks by myself (well, with 2 DSs). And if I can find some 4) 15 mins of exercise at home a day (?) Wonder if I can stick to that...

LadyOfWaffle · 26/09/2008 18:03

Well done Cyteen! I moved out of my comfy maternity jeans the ot... whichher week but the only other pair (normal) I could find kept falling down Think I may be able to contemplate buying a size smaller now (although I keep convincing myself that whereever I buy them from I should buy my 'old' size as sometimes shops are smaller than others)... which is why I ended up with another pair of falling down jeans. Sheesh, I shouldn't be sitting here moaning about my jeans falling down! Err... waffling again, sorry!

TwilightSurfer · 26/09/2008 19:08

Great Cyteen. That's my problem too really. I've been wearing mine but not loads as they rub my scar...

Oops & LOW nice goals.

TS I watched that youtube vid on how to do crunches but I think my belly 'pooches out' when I do them. Am trying very hard to get it right! 50 crunches yesterday and another 50 today!

Good for you cyteen on getting back into your jeans. I'm back in my size 12 jeans but a looonnngg way off the size 10s that keep staring at me from the shelf in my wardrobe!

I've also listed some maternity clothes on ebay - I figured I'd buy myself something nice with the money I earn . Hopefully this will be a pair of size 10 jeans!

TwilightSurfer · 26/09/2008 21:46

You're doing GREAT Captain! I'll start doing the crunches once I get my medical release. Until then I'm just doing breathing/tummy exercises.

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 26/09/2008 23:48

Well I have to eat my last post because I've just performed 50 crunches and 25 pelvic tilt lifts. My midsection feels unusually strong today. Here's hoping I didn't over do it. I was very careful and performed each crunch with control.

Captain, to help with the belly raise problem, imagine a string is attached to your belly button and as you crunch the string gets pulled into the floor.

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 27/09/2008 08:15

a string?!? I'd need an anchor line

TwilightSurfer · 27/09/2008 13:52

Monday marks WEEK SIX postCsec. Follow up / Medical Release visit isn't until next Tuesday (week 7).

Last Week's Short Term Goal: 15 minute walk a day
I did not meet this goal.

This week's short term goal:

  1. 15 minute walk three days this week
  2. 25 crunches two days this week
  3. 25 kegels each day
  4. tai chi short version one day this week
  5. yoga sun salutations sequence one day this week

The only problem I see is I'm having pain in my left hip STILL which I totally believe was caused by my CSec. That means I'll be gadging my activity based on pain in that area.
