Welcome ladies of the Due August 2008 thread. Today is your day to begin REDEFINING your Post-Baby Body.

Please take a moment to STATE your SHORT TERM goal(s) and to STATE your LONG TERM goal(s) for overall health. This may include a weight you would like to reach, a fitness level you would like to attain, or size you would like to fit into.

I ask that you post at least twice a week. First to state what you plan to do during the week to reach your above goal(s). Then an end of the week post to let us know how you faired. BE HONEST! This is a SUPPORT THREAD so if you didn't find time to run a mile, admit it. Maybe someone else did the same and needs a running partner...thus a MEET-UP a might solve the problem. If you went above and beyond your expectations for the week, tell us and be an inspiration.

Now let's get started.

dhal is a great healthy tea - tasty, full of protein, low fat and cheap. let us know how it turns out, i've got a brilliant failsafe dhal recipe but am always interested in new variations.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 25/09/2008 17:45

would love your recipe.
Am eatingf it now nut didnt know how much water to boil lentils in, so guessed
Tried to drain but bvit watery

Just added onion garlic tumeric to oil, then added tin toms and lentils, bit bland but tis ok.

didnt have cumin, bay leaf carraway etc...

cyteen · 25/09/2008 17:49

here we go

Boil the lentils till you can crush a grain without any hard stuff. Fry some onion, when translucent add some garlic and ginger, stir for a sec, then add a chopped tomato. The add a teaspoon of paprika, and half a teaspoon each of cumin, chilli powder, tumeric, coriander and garam masala. Once the spices are fried off a little, stir it into the dhal. Add green chilli, salt and vinegar to taste. Serve with chapatis, or whatever bread you've got lying around.

it's really good!

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 25/09/2008 17:58

great will get some more spices.
Tbh what I just had was very very bland but I liked the texture.
By the way it was like mush, is it supposed to be or should they still look round.

cyteen · 25/09/2008 18:08

it's meant to be pretty mushy...i always use red lentils because i'm too lazy to soak the other kind, and they always turn to mush.

VintageGardenia · 25/09/2008 18:08

Oooh let me know how your babies like your lentils! Mine didn't one bit. I love em cooked as cyteen says then stuffed in a pitta bread with a great dollop of mango chutney.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 25/09/2008 18:10

FoghornLeghorn · 25/09/2008 19:33

Can you all do me a favour and post how tall you are and how much you are aiming to weigh ? You all either weigh much less than me already or are aiming for a much lower weight than me .... I am therefore hoping you are all about 3ft tall

dizzydixies · 25/09/2008 19:34

forhorn I Swear you just need to stand next to me to look slim

I'm 168cm which is F506 and a half - the half is VERY important lol

I want to weigh 12stone

I've not a hope in hell at the moment

(hides the maltesers)

FoghornLeghorn · 25/09/2008 19:39

Yep Lara was 10 days old when I went Terrible I know but I absolutely loathe no longer being pregnant but not fitting into clothes. I don't 'ping' back into shape like some do so I have to work really hard to get back to pre-pregnancy weight, plus we have a wedding to go to 1st November that I wanted to b able to buy a lovely new outfit for so that's my target

dizzydixies · 25/09/2008 19:41

no apologies necessary Foggy - am meant to be going with my friend but am waiting till diabetic results are in on Tues first

the two classes near also fall at really shitey times for me which is a PITA

well done you

FoghornLeghorn · 25/09/2008 19:43

Lol dizzy - I'm 5ft 7 so am hoping everyone else is considerably shorter than me

I'm going out for my first girlie night out on saturday, said girlie friends are shorter than me but also very slight ... I said yesterday, I am going to find the fattest person I can (horrible of me I know) and stand next to them all night just shouting at my friends when I want to speak to them

dizzydixies · 25/09/2008 19:46

just tell me where you need me foggy!!

poppysocks · 25/09/2008 20:56

Not a brilliant day today - v. lovely, but terrible for me banoffee pie at lunchtime and now tucking into a glass of vino. However, so far, nothing else bad and also managed a 45 min walk with DD2 in sling. Given the day I've had though, it wasn't brisk.

Will do better tomorrow.... On the other hand is the start of the weekend and dieting and weekends just don't go together.... I'm useless at this .
