Welcome ladies of the Due August 2008 thread. Today is your day to begin REDEFINING your Post-Baby Body.

Please take a moment to STATE your SHORT TERM goal(s) and to STATE your LONG TERM goal(s) for overall health. This may include a weight you would like to reach, a fitness level you would like to attain, or size you would like to fit into.

I ask that you post at least twice a week. First to state what you plan to do during the week to reach your above goal(s). Then an end of the week post to let us know how you faired. BE HONEST! This is a SUPPORT THREAD so if you didn't find time to run a mile, admit it. Maybe someone else did the same and needs a running partner...thus a MEET-UP a might solve the problem. If you went above and beyond your expectations for the week, tell us and be an inspiration.

Now let's get started.

OOHH forgot to say - on Thursday I hade a session with the personal trainer man - boy was it hard work! I ache all over. I am now having a session every Thursday and DD will go to MIL. Am planning to row 3 x a week as well and get in a pilates session or swim.

TwilightSurfer · 13/04/2009 01:27

Okay let's get the party started over here!!

Oops I'm still very jealous of your trainer time. By the looks of my schedule it will be a year before I can start seeing one. That's actually a nice thing to look forward to.

Chequersmate we are glad to have you. Our goal here is redefining your post-baby body. You'll find we are at all different levels. Just like any social setting: no two are alike. It's awesome to hear you going to a nutritionist. We'd love to hear all about it. I am a firm believer in MOVEMENT. Doesn't matter how much or what type but you should move every day. We've got one who does pole dancing for exercise and a few that swim. I'm a big walk/jog/runner but in 10 minute sets. You'll find it fun to log in and see what everyone's been up too. Feel free to use our thread to toss our ideas, ask fitness questions or just track your progress. Sometimes just making yourself log your daily/weekly activities gives you the positive feedback you need to keep moving forward.

VG, How are you doing with that DVD? Was it worth it's weight in gold or too much to keep track of???

Cyteen, WHERE ARE YOU????

Sazzles, you are the flying fish!!!! YOU GO GIRL!!

No1, do you still ache? LOL

Hi Have done lots and lots of walking while away and pushing a pram up the steep hills and on the sand was a serious work out in my book.

I have signed up for Race for life too so that will push me to contine in the gym etc....

cyteen · 13/04/2009 09:54

I'm here miss!

Right, there is no mistaking it now: I am TOO LARDY Joe is definitely cutting his milk intake and as such I can no longer eat the cake rations of ten people and get away with it. So from now on there will be much less stupid eating and much more brisk movement.

My aims for this week are:

  • when I feel snacky-hungry (as opposed to mealtime-hungry) drink a big glass of water first and see if that helps
  • join the gym
  • at least 3x brisk walks into town with pram
TwilightSurfer · 16/04/2009 00:40

No1 I am proud of you for setting such a great goal. Good luck with your training. It will be well worth it.

Cyteen good to see you. Your goals are very attainable. Will shake pom poms for you all week!!

I am going to try ZUMBA!! My friend who also was my Boot Camp instructor said "IT IS A REAL WORKOUT". That scares me but if it gets to intense I'll just SIT DOWN and watch. LOL It does seem like a workout that is right up my alley.

cyteen · 18/04/2009 19:44

Thanks TS All walks have been achieved and snacking/cakey stuff has been radically reduced so I am pleased with that.

TwilightSurfer · 19/04/2009 00:14

Pramming Pramming Pramming here. What an awesome thing. I feel like I've been given a little freedom to exercise with the new jogger-stroller. I've used it TWICE everyday I've had it....which is only two days so we'll see how this pattern goes.

Zumba is tomorrow. Maybe. Not sure if I can fit it in with the stuff DH and I are doing around the house tomorrow. Oh well.

What to go Cyteen. Baby stepp'n towards your goals. ACES!!!

Forgive me TS for I have sinned, and it is a long time since my last confession.

WEll, I've lost 4lbs since the middle of Feb, which is sloooow going, but I have finally cut out all the rubbish after my blood tests gave me a cholesterol reading of 5.7.

I will stick to it now, I promise.

VintageGardenia · 28/04/2009 16:48

Feck it I've sinned too, and it's been a month since my last -confession post.

While I am a very tiny bit trimmer in silhouette these days my weight appears to be pretty much static, though the gym scales do weigh me about four or five pounds lighter than the home scales.

MY 7-DAY PLAN

  1. Drink 2 litres of water x 7
  2. Go to gym x 3
  3. Walk x 2 miles x 4 days
  4. Walk x 5 miles x 1 day

MY GENERAL THOUGHTS

When dinner is something stodgy (neither dp nor ds1 will eat salady things) I will have a small portion of it and make a gorgeous salad to go with it.

When shopping I am going to buy lots of lovely brightly coloured veg for salads and use seeds and stuff to jolly them up / add interest.

Going to get us a family membership to local tennis club, it's not expensive (tis not a Poshy Villas club) ds1 likes tennis & I do too, having something we can all do together will be good for family morale as well. (Or else they will pull faces ... )

RESULT

Slim, energetic, attractive, joyous new me bursting with health / vitality and full of good humour.

Family subconsciously absorb healthy eating & exercise vibe (ds1 gets this v well from his dad too).

I am absolutely impressed at the power of a jogger. Buy it and you'll never jog again. LOL!!

Nothing to report here except a need for sleep.

Just marking my place after last week's cakefest...onwards and upwards ladies!

VintageGardenia · 18/05/2009 09:19

OK I last posted three weeks ago so cannot cast any nasturtiums.

For two weeks I have been really dieting, eating salads and veg and keeping clear of pasta, bread, spuds, rice and all those other things which are making me so solid. I have found it relatively easy so long as I have plenty of delicious things for my salads (which are vast by the way). I am also drinking the usual water and taking a fibre supplement.

I started feeling better as soon as one pound dropped off the scales and I am now up to 5 (well I was until this weekend, I broke the diet Fri night out to dinner and Sat night people in to dinner, drank shedload of wine, ate risotto, creamy pud, etc) and am keeping going. Any partners gratefully received.

EG of lunch salad would be:
big pile of peppery rocket
capers
handful of seeds
tomatoes
celery
sundried tomatoes (for chew!)
carrot
chives
those fat round chili peppers from a jar

And it is yum and keeps my mouth busy! I am not using dressing, but am not obsessive about that.

I really like the fact that I have broken the cycle of cup of tea and hunk of cake.

I know most of you are more in the market to lose a couple of pounds, or tone up your tummies, or whatever, but I am in worse need and really need to get rid of at least a stone.

VintageGardenia · 18/05/2009 09:21

What am I talking about?

Two stone.

But one would be a good start.

Sazzles good for you. It's not easy to post something as personal as your weight - so we both want to lose a similar amount, let's do it. It's possible, and we will feel fantastic. I think taking weekends off is ok so long as they are not too off the scale. I had about 2 bottles of wine over the weekend that's not really ok, but that's not normal for me (honest, guv!) For me water is key key key and it's pasta and so on that are my comfort foods, so I really have to just say goodbye to them. Luckily I love salady things and with a bit of planning ahead can make nice ones.

Feeling slim is such a lovely feeling, and one I can remember (mists of time, obviously), so I am keeping the memory fresh and vivid as something I will feel again.

And you will too.

As they used to say at WeightWatchers, nothing tastes as good as slim feels!

Fantastic Sazzles! Stir fry veg are fab, I use a bit of sesame oil on things like broccoli and a bit of oyster sauce and soy sauce on mangetout and tomatoes etc.

I have to confess I have been weighing myself EVERY day which I know is not recommended but I have become a teeny bit obsessed. However I should have a specific day to mark things off.

I've had a lovely smoothie out today and 3 coffees (come on!) and I've got peanutty broccoli carrotty thing made and I was going to do a couscous salad for tonight. I have made buns for ds1 and friend. AGONY!!
