Welcome ladies of the Due August 2008 thread. Today is your day to begin REDEFINING your Post-Baby Body.

Please take a moment to STATE your SHORT TERM goal(s) and to STATE your LONG TERM goal(s) for overall health. This may include a weight you would like to reach, a fitness level you would like to attain, or size you would like to fit into.

I ask that you post at least twice a week. First to state what you plan to do during the week to reach your above goal(s). Then an end of the week post to let us know how you faired. BE HONEST! This is a SUPPORT THREAD so if you didn't find time to run a mile, admit it. Maybe someone else did the same and needs a running partner...thus a MEET-UP a might solve the problem. If you went above and beyond your expectations for the week, tell us and be an inspiration.

Now let's get started.

hotter mid belly work....

best to use proper form in all activities. down the thread a bit you will find links to videos showing proper crunches. running/jogging are very very good in trimming that area as well.

VintageGardenia · 28/02/2009 09:05

Apols not posting have been so vv busy.

Water - 2 litres a day easily, I have had such a craving for water lately, I have drunk more some days!

Cross-trainer x 1 session only 35 mins

Walking x 4 days for my 2 miles and I didn't get my 6 miler done this week however the weather has perked up the last couple of days so I will be better next week.

I also tried some crunches for the first time.

I have to have my photograph taken on Thursday and I am totally dreading it. A full-length one - eeek!

TwilightSurfer · 01/03/2009 00:50

for the record i did 12 pushups at least 4 days last week and i did a one mile walk/run two times (maybe three i forget). i've wrangled a tantruming 5 year old for a total of 4 days this week (she did have two excellent well-behaved days in the middle). i've also moved a butt load of heavy boxes from one end of my house to the other. next week i get to move those same boxes back. i'd say i scored 100% this week.

next..................

OP posts:
VintageGardenia · 01/03/2009 20:11

Good work TS! Deffo your manhandling of 5yo's and hauling of boxes counts.

Well at the gym today instead of cross-trainer for half an hour, 4.2km, I ran the 4.2 km in the same time on a treadmill, but my Lord the difference! I really feel as if I've been exercising now. Have I been fooling myself with this low-impact stuff??

TwilightSurfer · 01/03/2009 20:16

VG I know exactly how you feel. I was doing that 30 minute walk thing for 7 weeks then attempted a 10 minute run. HOLY MOTHER!!! I tell you what though, the jogging bit (although short) really started to make me feel stronger/leaner. I've started doing it again and it really doesn't take long to get that feeling again. I should devote myself to doing the whole 10 minutes at a good jog pace. I think I could reform with just that in NO TIME FLAT!

GOOD JOB!!

VintageGardenia · 01/03/2009 20:36

Ah, cheers TS, you really are so super on this thread. I do agree - I am definitely going to run now, so long as I can hold my puff (and my norks, obviously) and get sweating. Oh, I also did the 2 minute tummy workout thing you posted a while ago. my tummy is a mess.

cyteen · 02/03/2009 10:49

ACHIEVEMENTS

cyteen Week Ending 27FEB
Water - 2 pints a day - 4/7
Walk - 2 miles at least 3 times - check
Warm ups - every morning - 5/7

Running shoes have been purchased. I'll leave out the details of the revolting junky calorie-fest that was this weekend.

TARGETS

cyteen Week Ending 8MAR
Water - 2 pints a day
Walk - 2 miles at least 3 times
Warm ups - every morning

Investigate swimming pool creche now that DS is 6 months old (!!).

cyteen · 04/03/2009 21:45

I must have power-walked at least 7 miles today. Not doing great on the water front though...

TwilightSurfer · 05/03/2009 22:33

Cyteen that's INCREDIBLE!! 7 miles I am totally impressed. Keep up the good work!!

I've noticed when AF is visiting I tend to slack off. Seems more natural for my body to rest during this time. I've been going to bed at 8ish, waking up once to feed Reese (varies night to night), then waking for real at about 7am. AND I STILL FEEL LIKE I NEED MORE SLEEP! How is that? I guess I have a lot of sleep time to make up. lol

OP posts:
hotterpotter · 06/03/2009 22:40

Wow Cyteen that's amazing, well done

Have just about managed 10 miles this week, some of it good arm work due to pram laden down with heavy DS and lots of food shopping too.

Exercising only 45 minutes Wii plus 5 minutes skipping . I tried to do the 2-minute tummy thing but I just couldnt. My poor body is a wreck. Need to start more gently, any ideas anyone?

TwilightSurfer · 08/03/2009 12:50

Hotter 10 miles WOW!! Please explain the tummy thing you couldn't do.

OP posts:
cyteen · 08/03/2009 17:26

Glossing over the shamefully calorific lunch DP and I enjoyed today...

Think I'm 6/7 for all my water and exercise targets, walking has been exceeded but I haven't checked out the creche yet .

TwilightSurfer · 08/03/2009 18:44

cyteen i've not left reese in childcare at the gym either. keep meaning to. maybe after the vacation.

yoga tonight.

that's about all i have to report. busy week everywhere except exercise front.

OP posts:
VintageGardenia · 08/03/2009 19:55

Well done on the mileage, hotpot! Are you talking about the two minute tummy thing on YouTube TS linked to a while back?

Good work cyteen if you've watered and walked you're allowed a Sunday lunch imo.

Enjoy yoga TS, you probably really need it this week!

I have gone wonky on the calender, my week to week, but I have been to the gym 3 times Sunday to Sunday, run just over 4K, then 5K, then 5.2K. IF IF IF I can keep this up I think it will make a difference, finally...

Water 2l per day YES
Walk 2m per day YES x 4 days
Long walk NO sadly not this week
Weight loss... I am going to keep off the scales for a couple of weeks & hope for a massive when I do weigh myself!

TwilightSurfer · 09/03/2009 06:22

yoga was AGAIN a one on one session. the is excellent for me but sadly the class may get cancelled for this fact. it's the perfect time and class for me. i really hope while i am at the beach things change.

sleep problems for me again tonight. arrggghhhh

vg you are really making some waves. keep up the good work. it's all about making it a normal part of your week and you've obviously accomplished that.

OP posts:
VintageGardenia · 09/03/2009 15:59

That's great on the yoga front TS, there's nothing like a one to one.

Thanks for your kind words, I feel great about the last few exercise sessions, and I walked 6 miles today, with ds on my back for 4 of them, so have started the week well. I am achey though!

TwilightSurfer · 10/03/2009 20:50

I'm beginning to think achey is AGE related and not exercise related. LOL! Can't seem to shake it even on days when I don't exercise.

6 mile is absolutely spectacular. One day I'll do 6 miles. Will probably have to be shopping related but I will do it.

Can't wait to see what everyone accomplishes this week. Don't forget next week is St. Patrick's Day so get ready for pub crawling. That's a very important activity.

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 12/03/2009 00:54

I watched a show yesterday that did a little blip on water consumption. As you know your body is made up of water and salt. The combination of the two is an excellent conductor of electricity. KEY POINT: Too much water and not enough salt is less conductive than a good balance of the two. This goof could cause fatigue (and can be fatal but it'd have to be a really big goof). So please drink water in moderation, gradually over the entire day. Don't force yourself to drink a large quantity at once just to meet some crazy quota.

OP posts:
hotterpotter · 12/03/2009 09:15

Sorry, got distracted, yes it was the youtube one I couldn't do

VG you are doing brilliantly with all the running and walking .I bought some running shoes last week but they are so far unused. Have walked 9 miles so far this week but no Wiiing, and won't manage it either as have to go into work tomorrow . Still, my jeans are definitely slacker than they were

TS you will have to lots of swimming in the sea . Are you going Atlantic or Gulf of Mexico side?

VintageGardenia · 12/03/2009 22:21

What do you mean TS re. the water thing, I am constantly trying to meet crazy quotas... do you mean don't drink half a litre in one go, or don't drink 20 litres a week? I have no idea how much salt I consume.. or how much I am supposed to..

Why is there so much blardy science to it all? heeelp

TwilightSurfer · 15/03/2009 02:26

hotter we are on the gulf!!

vg it is so crazy but it is true you should consume your "quota" slowly throughout the day and not in one go. As for the "quota" I have read mixed notes on what a person should actually consume. One article made mention of a formula based on body weight. That made the most sense to me but I can't remember the formula. After all my years I can still consume no more than one liter of water in a day. Mind you that's on top of my breakfast oj, my midday snack with milk and then whatever else I might have with lunch or dinner.

OP posts:
GreenGardenia · 16/03/2009 07:40

Wow look at you on the beach! Lucky thing.

Just keeping this on my threads but BOAST ALERT I am off to the gym, it's 7.33 in the morning. Got to record this for posterity...

TwilightSurfer · 16/03/2009 22:35

OH VG I do hope the gym was AMAZING!

OP posts:
GreenGardenia · 17/03/2009 10:00

Thanks TS I wouldn't go so far as to say it was AMAZING LOL but you would have been proud of me I ran 6K in 40 minutes and then I hauled my steaming, panting body around the weights circuit and did 20 reps on each machine.

HALO

AND I walked 5 miles on Saturday (treasure hunt around the city with the family) AND wait for it...

I am off to the gym now (it's a holiday day & dp is at home so staying with ds).

Now wait for the really shocking news - I have put on 2lbs. How the f* did that happen? I have been so dedicated and the results are nothing .

GreenGardenia · 17/03/2009 10:01

Happy St Patrick's Day! x
