Welcome ladies of the Due August 2008 thread. Today is your day to begin REDEFINING your Post-Baby Body.

Please take a moment to STATE your SHORT TERM goal(s) and to STATE your LONG TERM goal(s) for overall health. This may include a weight you would like to reach, a fitness level you would like to attain, or size you would like to fit into.

I ask that you post at least twice a week. First to state what you plan to do during the week to reach your above goal(s). Then an end of the week post to let us know how you faired. BE HONEST! This is a SUPPORT THREAD so if you didn't find time to run a mile, admit it. Maybe someone else did the same and needs a running partner...thus a MEET-UP a might solve the problem. If you went above and beyond your expectations for the week, tell us and be an inspiration.

Now let's get started.

OH almost forgot...
I walked 1 mile today with Reese in the moby. It was nice playing urban city dweller today. Walking downtown Chattanooga on a Saturday is really really nice.

FYI: 0.1 miles per city block. 10 blocks = 1 mile

Well done on the walking TS! Am thinking of going for a nice walk this morning, took ds in backpack on Sat and he really seemed to like it.

VintageGardenia · 16/02/2009 12:02

Paul McKenna has arrived...

Eeek feel bit nervous now, what if this doesn't work?

There are 5 CDs, a leaflet and a 90-day journal so I suppose this is day 1.

It's straightforward really -

  • Eat when you are hungry (when you are truly hungry, not thinking oooo it's Wispa time etc)
  • Stop eating when you are nearly full
  • Eat slowly
  • Exercise and drink water

VG...is that all? WOW! That's easy enough then. I assume the journal is for what you are eating. It is an eye opener when you do food journals, really.

Sazzles 3 miles SWEET!

No physical activity to record. Thought about it. Might add "thinking about exercise" to my goal list next week.

OP posts:
VintageGardenia · 18/02/2009 09:25

Yes I know it seems straightforward, doesn't it? Unfortunately I do quite often eat when I am not hungry, I finish what's on my plate, instead of finishing when I am full, etc etc. And I get carb cravings, etc, which I will be kicking.

Anyway it's a helper on the food side. Gotta keep on with the walking & the crosstraining and whatnot.

Hello you healthful ladies. I have come to the realisation that, as weaning is proceeding fairly well, I can no longer continue to eat the world without dire consequences to my figure Having actually quite disgusted myself with my constant eating lately, I've resolved to get back to reasonably good habits before my arse gets so big it could form its own website.

So my goals to begin with are:

do my warm up exercises every day - it makes such a difference to how my body deals with the day's baby-related manual handling
eat like a normal person instead of sucking food remorselessly towards my mouth like some fleshy black hole

I also really must start training for this 10k run I'm supposed to be doing in June, so will try and get proper running shoes sorted out next week.

Have big wedding to go to on 1st May and want to stun everyone with my buffness. Help motivate me ladies!

Just checking in quick before tea -Mac n cheese, highly calorific

OK so I only managed 3 miles as didn't have to take DD to nursery but have also done 2x 40 minutes on Wii fit so not too bad. As for water, not good, I think only 4/7 this week.

Must do better, now off for heart disease on a plate

cyteen · 20/02/2009 19:58

Right, can report 2 x 2 mile walks this week (into town). Did my warm ups this morning and as usual felt miles better for the rest of the day. Also ate much more normally - rice crispies, tuna sandwich, crisps, cake (it was my friend's birthday though so I felt allowed ), two pittas with peanut butter and now have chicken and potato wedges in the oven. Am snacking on...grapes

No outfit yet Sazz, will shop nearer the time I reckon.

OP posts:
cyteen · 22/02/2009 13:41

ok, setting myself some minimum requirements:

cyteen Week Ending 27FEB
Water - 2 pints a day
Walk - 2 miles at least 3 times
Warm ups - every morning

Purchase running shoes and work out routes/schedule ready for start of training in March

hotterpotter · 23/02/2009 21:26

OK checking in or I'll forget what I've done.

So far:

  • 40 minute Wii
  • 1.2 miles
  • 4.2 miles

I'm sure someone linked to it a while ago, but I've been having loads of fun with the Gmaps pedometer so will be providing more accurate mileage from now on. Am delighted to find that a round trip to nursery is 0.2 miles further than I thought; that's at least an extra mile per week .

cyteen · 24/02/2009 17:01

So far:

warm ups done
water target met
running shoes purchased
1 x 2 mile walk achieved

cyteen · 24/02/2009 17:01

Oh, and the only crap I've eaten so far is half a Tunnock's and a bag of crisps

Not refreshed as such but it's certainly helping me survive the sleep hell

Joe will be 6 months next week which means I can start putting him in the creche and going for a swim, yay

hotterpotter · 25/02/2009 19:09

Doing quite well this week - 2.4 miles yesterday and 4.4 today

Well done on only eating half a Tunnock Cyteen! Was it a teacake? If so I don't know how you managed it, they're yummy. My avoidance of all things delicious but calorie-laden lasted until 2.30 this afternoon when I bought some shortbread with my cappucino. Was meant for DS which is bad enough in itself but I had some too. You should have seen his face though, he thought it was delicious!

That's a brilliant achievement Sazzles! Is the thought of a slender toned TS and the beach giving you extra impetus in your efforts?

hotpot no, it was the caramel wafer (dark chocolate though, the milk choc ones taste like cardboard).

I was doing so well and then tonight have polished off a massive Chinese takeaway and a Snickers In my defence it has been an extremely tiring few days! Walking into town tomorrow and Friday, which is a 2 mile stretch, so will also walk back at least one of those days

hotterpotter · 26/02/2009 17:22

Seem to have got myself in a Thursday-Thursday week so here are the results from the hotterpotter jury...

40 minutes Wii and 1.2 miles today brings a grand total of:

14.4 miles
80 minutes exercise
but only 3/7 water

So why isn't it doing any good????????? Haven't lost any weight and am not going crazy with cake/biscuits etc.

I think I need to do some sort of exercise too for firming up my tummy as I still look 6 months pregnant. What would the experts recommend, sit-ups, crunches something else? Give me an idea and a gentle target and I'll have those on my targets for next week along with 1 hour of Wii and 10 miles, and 1l water a day, I will drink it

TwilightSurfer · 27/02/2009 19:29

~~~~~~~ .....^. ~~~~~~* YEAH! HOT MAMAS!!!! GREAT! JOB!!
