Welcome ladies of the Due August 2008 thread. Today is your day to begin REDEFINING your Post-Baby Body.

Please take a moment to STATE your SHORT TERM goal(s) and to STATE your LONG TERM goal(s) for overall health. This may include a weight you would like to reach, a fitness level you would like to attain, or size you would like to fit into.

I ask that you post at least twice a week. First to state what you plan to do during the week to reach your above goal(s). Then an end of the week post to let us know how you faired. BE HONEST! This is a SUPPORT THREAD so if you didn't find time to run a mile, admit it. Maybe someone else did the same and needs a running partner...thus a MEET-UP a might solve the problem. If you went above and beyond your expectations for the week, tell us and be an inspiration.

Now let's get started.

i hope i don't scare anyone. i'm sitting here post-shower with a BEAUTIFUL green mud mask on my face. my dh said i look like THE HULK. LOL!

sambo can you temporarily ace bandage your boobs for the rope session then don't jump two footed (thump thump thump thump) but use a running type jump (tickity tickity tickity). the impact is a little softer on the knees as well (i assume) the boobs. being no very well endowed (really NOT endowed) i have no personal experience to pull from here just commenting off what i've seen in the workout arena around me.

Hi Ladies.

I was gonna pop in for a chat, but I see you're all talking weight loss so I think I'll just sneak back out

Well done to all though. I think about all you ladies often but never get the time to sit and chat xx

Miamla · 03/02/2009 10:08

lol, i've bookmarked those two vids so that's a good start, right?

i've got man flu at the moment so as soon as i'm feeling a bit perkier i'll have a go. thanks TS, flat stomach here i come!

hmm, i'm liking the skipping rope idea. I too am not v endowed despite bf and i reckon it'd be fun

VintageGardenia · 03/02/2009 10:49

Oh dear I was seriously not fishing for compliments there, but I do thank you Sazzles & sambo for your very kind and thoughtful comments.

I am very fortunate in that I have a priceless DP who seems genuinely to see me through some sort of beauty-filter regardless of how sick/overweight/hungover/ill-tempered I ever am, but alas I have a scales, a looking glass and a wardrobe that fitted me eighteen months ago! And I don't believe in fooling myself, and I am not the way I am supposed to be, and I'm not comfortable at the moment, I just don't feel myself. So I am ordering Paul McKenna today! I will share the info with whoever is interested. But I do mean thank you most sincerely. And thanks for not rolling eyes at idea of PMcK.

That is a superb idea about the skipping rope, TS! I think there is one in the garage so I may just bind the boobs flapper-style, and close the curtains for half an hour at some point this afternoon...

Miamla welcome to this thread by the way! TS is v. inspirational and Sazzles will record all your positives and everyone will find a way to brush off anything you report as negative! Life should imitate this thread.

oopsacoconut · 04/02/2009 10:37

All this skipping sounds good BUT where would I find a bandadge wide and long enough to bind my 36K's?

Today we are off for a BIG snowy walk will defo get 2 miles in may well try for a longewr 6 mile one to see the canal which is apparemnly lovely and snowy.

Rowing again tonight and MIL booked to have DD on MOnday for Aquafit at lunchtime.

rotterpotter · 04/02/2009 10:48

Feck just typed a massive post and lost it, grrr.

OK try again, I have lost a lot of weight since DS was born but I was absolutely massive and still weigh what I weighed before I got pg which is too much. Still have 2.5 - 3 stone to lose and hope to drop from size 18-20 to at most size 14.

I really need to do something to re-start the weight loss and get less wobbly, especially as once weaning kicks in I'll lose some of the bf help calorie wise (which is the only reason I've lost any weight at all tbh). There is a local health club which has a pool (and a gym but not going there!), although I can't afford a permanent membership I could afford to join for one month. If I did that, and went swimming 4 or 5 times a week, would this be a good idea? I wouldn't be able to go again once the month was up until I return to work in June, although I suppose if it's done some good I would maybe be more inclined to do something else (skipping?? running??????).

Oh I don't know, help me hot mamas, what should I do?

rotterpotter · 04/02/2009 10:50

Oops I am in awe of your bosoms! Thought I had drawn the short straw with 38H, but you win (or lose, you decide )

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 04/02/2009 10:50

Hi I am back ashamed to say not done much, but got on track last few days.
I Walked 3 mile ish yesterday.
Pushing the double, (I am sure sazzles will agree is like pushing a tank at times esp over the snow)
Hip area/joints hurt(strange), and back tingled a bit but no pain, so that was good.Anyway felt very refreshed and feel fine this morning

vg can I also say you are very beautiful(am not just saying it) but I totally understand it is how you feel yourself regardless of compliments etc...
I have been tempted by the Paul Mk cd too.

I think it all comes down to healthy eating life style change as well as excersise to maintain.

I love love love food and can not diet very well.
I am hoping to get back on the pole tonight. Well gently for now anyway.
Have not used car for a while so hopefully thats good too. I struggle to get time to use our gym to as no one to watch dcs, so know where you are coming from vg
If I am honest I would rather use a babysitter so I can go out than use the gym.

oopsacoconut · 04/02/2009 10:56

Rotter - The way to start is with easliy manageable targets like walking to place you normally drive, in my case to town, babycafe etc. Also increase your water intake - you will find that alot of the extra weight (in my case anyway) is water retention and by drinking at least 1.5l - 2l a day has stopped my body storing water and I have lost some inches.

On another note - I spoke to my personal trainer today am going to make a plan to see him in the next few weeks - just once every 2 weeks initially because I am not working I can't afford him the twice a week I used to

Shazza2002 · 04/02/2009 15:39

I've just realised you ladies still have a 'normal' thread going. You must have thought I was a complete numpty when I said about going cause you were talking about losing weight. Duh

TwilightSurfer · 05/02/2009 02:24

what an amazing group of ladies!

sazzles, love the swimming goal. ONE MILE!

oops, if finding the perfect product to bandage those BOOBS is a problem, so you have access to a store that sells sports bras like this one?

No1 awesome pramming. As for the back thing, do you have a belly wrap? You can easily make yourself one that fits snuggly around your middle that helps remind your torso to be long and lean....makes the spine tall. If you walk using the proper posture, you'll strengthen those core muscles quicker and possibly fix that old back problem faster.

Miamla, I swear by proper form. I don't have a six pack but I have a very taut middle...always have.

Rotter, the ladies have all offered pro-style advice. I'd only add that you start off by making a reachable commitment to yourself. For me that was one walk/run for no less than 20 every Sunday morning. Seven weeks into that commitment I added Bootcamp which then bumped my commitment from one day a week to two days a week. Starting off in bite size chunks allows you to feel the glow of reaching the goal. Don't waste your time and money on the gym membership if it's something you can't see yourself doing 4 weeks from now. True reformation is not about fad exercising or fad dieting, it's about making a lifestyle commitment and as the story goes if you can commit to something for 40 days you will commit to it for life. Glad you're here!!

Hi Shazza!!

VG I can't wait to hear what that CD contains.

oopsacoconut · 05/02/2009 10:19

Helloooooo

TS I have just ordered a similar bra.

I have booked my personal trainer man for 11.30 on the 20th Feb.

Last night I managed free weights and crunches on the big red ball as well as a row.

rotterpotter · 05/02/2009 21:52

OK you have talked me out of the swimathon . Instead I will start more gently and try and work my way up.

So my targets will be to:

  • drink at least 1l of water a day,
  • get my 5 f&v at least 4 times a week
  • walk 2 miles 3 times a week
  • walk 4 miles or do 40 minutes on Wii Fit once a week.

Hopefully if I can stick to this for a few weeks then I'll start to do other stuff too.

Do I start tomorrow or wait till Monday? Don't want to muck up the spreadsheet
