Welcome ladies of the Due August 2008 thread. Today is your day to begin REDEFINING your Post-Baby Body.

Please take a moment to STATE your SHORT TERM goal(s) and to STATE your LONG TERM goal(s) for overall health. This may include a weight you would like to reach, a fitness level you would like to attain, or size you would like to fit into.

I ask that you post at least twice a week. First to state what you plan to do during the week to reach your above goal(s). Then an end of the week post to let us know how you faired. BE HONEST! This is a SUPPORT THREAD so if you didn't find time to run a mile, admit it. Maybe someone else did the same and needs a running partner...thus a MEET-UP a might solve the problem. If you went above and beyond your expectations for the week, tell us and be an inspiration.

Now let's get started.

x post on the sport thing, you just did it!

Those targets off top of head, will do proper ones by Fri.

VintageGardenia · 05/01/2009 23:06

There is a 10K run on Valentine's Day here called Cupid's Dash, not sure I'll be fit for that, but am aiming for mini-marathon (they call it that but is only 10K) on June bank hol.

hi
firstly TS big thankyou for all those workout reccomendations,

sazzles like the fitness support too. not sure i understand how to work it out i am a bit thick.
anyhow not much fitness here with bad back

I always seem to have an excuse.
me and dh were just discussing only last night a way to work round his shifts so i can get back in gym. then i go and do this

TwilightSurfer · 06/01/2009 16:28

No1 back issues can cripple anyone's plans. Taking your time and being kind to yourself when attempting any exercise is best. The problem can also cause a bit of depression since you feel you can't do what you want to do. Fend off those thoughts and feelings by staying well hydrated, listening to happy music and finding that little something that makes you laugh out loud. That's all just as important to a healthy lifestyle as 50 crunches and running 2 miles.

The Life Diet

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 06/01/2009 21:10

okay that link doesn't help much

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 06/01/2009 21:20

okay reese is screaming but i'm going to try and remember what that lady said.

dinner
dinner should always start with a stock based vegetable soup or a leafy green salad with a light dressing. the soup or salad starter acts to first provide you with essential good nutrients and gives you the ground work for that "full" sensation thus keeping you from over eating the main course.

fruits and veggies
don't go overboard trying to find a large variety. that's too much work. select a lot from your local seasonally available produce and eat plenty of it.

walking
she said to attempt 30 minutes every day even if it's in 10 spurts.

there was something about sodas that basically said to cut them out.

something about water....drink plenty of it.

OH and to start your diet spend the first seven days WITHOUT any sugar and/or sugar substitutes. she said you have to retrain the brain to not NEED the sugar and that takes eliminating even the substitutes for the full seven days.

ts that sounds pretty doable to me,and sensible.

I dont know about anyone else but since having ds my diet has been pretty poor. I am not sure why, as I ate very well after having dd.
I hardly drink water like I did, so that is my effort/goal atm.
Fruit intake has been poor too. I used to eat so much.
I need to stop saying 'I don't have the time'
These are my goals for this week.

TwilightSurfer · 06/01/2009 22:51

Time is a huge issue with more than one child. And we've got so much on our plates with caring for the littlest ones it's only normal to try and grab the quickest and easiest thing to put in our mouth. Our body is craving anything it can to get the fuel it needs. We just need to find a way to motivate ourselves to make the EFFORT to be good to our bodies. To start fueling with foods that are full of vitamins and nutrients. Once you start and feel the difference it's kind of hard to return to the slop that causes us to be depressed and slow. Promise.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 07/01/2009 13:04

I agree with that. I was saying to dh (he pretty fit and uses gym a lot at home and work) I said if he worked a routine out for me that definately worked and I could see a difference, then I would be more inclined to stick to it.
I always excpect to see results straight away. Even though I know full well that it does not work like that.

I aim to lose at least 7lbs before ds christening.

TwilightSurfer · 07/01/2009 13:55

7lbs is an easy amount if you get serious with your fiber/water intake.

OP posts:
no1putsbabyinthecorner · 07/01/2009 16:41

Yes it is easily achievable if only I remember to drink. I am now having my first drink today. A glass of water.
how can I forget to drink.

TwilightSurfer · 07/01/2009 20:27

I was just asking myself that a few minutes ago. I need to find a nutritionist and ask if any liquid intake counts or if the water count is solely water. If it's not then I've had 3 cups. If it is then I've had none.

OP posts:
sambo303 · 07/01/2009 21:45

I think any fluid counts ts eg tea/juice (not sure about cola/coffee as caffeine is a diuretic)

I get my 2L by chilling tap water in an old 2L bottle then getting it out in the morning and putting it by the computer (cos I spend A LOT of time on the computer, mainly mn ) plus glass and I don't go to bed til it's gone. btw some research says 2L water is not necessary to health - but I like drinking water for 2 reasons:
1 I have fewer migraines if I'm hydrated
2 the body can mistake thirst for hunger so keeping hydrated can reduce feelings of hunger and prevent snacking

sambo303 · 07/01/2009 21:58

hmm Sazzles we need a SPREADSHEET!

my weekly goals:

water: 2L
swim: 1/2 hour swim twice a week - can update with lengths tomorrow as going for a swim and can calculate number of lengths but may work it out in DISTANCE as it's a 25M pool and distance may be more impressive
pil/yoga: 0
walk/run: how do I work out miles? I randomly wander
row: 0
gym: 0
sport: (counting decorating & gardening) 2 hours
crunches: YUK and DOUBLE YUK but may do some depending on wobble factor (got a shock today glancing in mirror at waterbabies and thought who's fat tum is that? Twas mine )
pushups: 0 (can't)
weightloss: can advise tomorrow after weighing at pool

sambo303 · 07/01/2009 22:03

2L water is per DAY
