HOT MAMAs redefining HOT BODIES after AUG08 BIG BABIES!!!

Welcome ladies of the Due August 2008 thread. Today is your day to begin REDEFINING your Post-Baby Body.

Please take a moment to STATE your SHORT TERM goal(s) and to STATE your LONG TERM goal(s) for overall health. This may include a weight you would like to reach, a fitness level you would like to attain, or size you would like to fit into.

I ask that you post at least twice a week. First to state what you plan to do during the week to reach your above goal(s). Then an end of the week post to let us know how you faired. BE HONEST! This is a SUPPORT THREAD so if you didn't find time to run a mile, admit it. Maybe someone else did the same and needs a running partner...thus a MEET-UP a might solve the problem. If you went above and beyond your expectations for the week, tell us and be an inspiration.

Now let's get started.

I'm here having been to WW and got weighed today time for some action

ok cunning plan follows

  1. stop stuffing lardy arse with lardier foods

end of cunning plan!!

am not admitting weight at moment but shall post weight loss [hopeful emoticon] each week from here on

TwilightSurfer · 11/11/2008 21:13

Dizzy welcome back.
{{{hug}}}
You are on a very good path with WW.
Being accountable to others often helps your focus. Also having others with the same goal sparks a real charge and a desire to continue when you want to give up.

dizzydixies · 11/11/2008 21:14

well I find not even I can lie when standing on the scales

sambo303 · 11/11/2008 21:19

dizzy I think you have taken that all important first step. Your cunning plan will definitely work - good luck.

This thread is a great motivator I feel although I have to now admit that I did not swim today - it's all a bit of a hassle expressing on the morning as my fridge is broke, I'm worried I won;t have enough as have 3 hours to feed DS twice and express enough for another feed . The creche ladies need a bottle in case DS screams is hungry. Plus my parents dropped in at swim time and they've not seen DS for 2 weeks. Excuses excuses. Went for a walk with silver cross though and did some DIY (hammered some nails into walls - does this count as exercise?)

Will definitely swim on Thursday (and no cake tomorrow at NCT meet up)

And can i just say, well done all HOT MAMAS - we're doing great

dizzydixies · 11/11/2008 21:22

hammering nails DEFINATE excercise in my book, well at least a stress reliever so that also counts - mental well being is just as important

alittlebitshy · 11/11/2008 21:24

whoops - dropped off my thread list. Not done a thing (except eat [blush[)

Must try harder.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 11/11/2008 21:30

I am planning a bake day tomorow

if I can find dizzy's recipe for tham sultana and carrot muffins.

sorry.

dizzydixies · 11/11/2008 21:34

here you are No1

count them as 2 of your 5 a day

VintageGardenia · 12/11/2008 08:46

Good morning. Went to aquarobics last night but it was not great, one of the fellows who takes it is a bit lacklustre. My friend and I were able to carry on a conversation the whole way through it which we definitely couldn't do last week, we were working too hard! Plus she was distracting me by ogling the lifeguard he didn't notice as he was ogling himself reflected in the water.

Mother and babba yoga today (is just stretching really) and piano exam for DS aargh poor fellow. He's not nervous but will be disappointed if he fails and has worked hard for it so I do hope he pulls through. Then he can have a music holiday and just play We Three Kings till Christmas, poor soul.

Sorry that's nothing to do with my postnatal body.

Sugar free Alpen (heave) and instant coffee.

And I am getting a cough! Perhaps will waste away through illness [hopeful].

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 12/11/2008 09:37

vg your so funny lol at lifeguard checking himself out.
Oh so vain.

Well done on the aquarobics, the baby yoga sounds nice.
Nothing like that near me
Decided I think we should move to a more interesting/happening place, Im sooo not proud to be from here.
Is that bad?

poppysocks · 12/11/2008 10:18

More LOL at the lifeguard VG. Would love to try aquaerobics. Had a session booked at centerparcs, but that was scuppered due to the scorched fingers. Oh well. Sounds especially fun if you can chat throughout!

Not entirely sure why I'm here other than to say hello and shake some pom poms, as haven't managed anything positive but haven't been tooooo bad either. I ate an entire large bag of kettle chips in one sitting at the weekend and in a weird way going SO OTT has pulled me back this week without noticing. Still feeling slightly sick about it tbh.

cyteen · 12/11/2008 15:26

It can't be all bad though - I met up with some NCT friends today and one of them greeted me with "You've lost weight!"

sambo303 · 13/11/2008 07:55

Poppycan second you on the nausea caused by Kettle Chip scoffing, but they're sooo morish. I avoid entirely due to low will power. DP used to eat a full bag with lunch everyday - and wondered where his spare tyre came from!

well done on the exercise front VG, not sure about sugar free Alpen, isn't it the sugar that makes it taste nice?

Doesn't look like I'll get to swim today either as waiting in this morning for fridge repair man and cavity wall insulation man. The creche only runs til 1.15pm (why?)

Have a garden full of leaves to sweep up - if it's nice this afternoon and DS sleeps, I can get on with that - gardening is the best exercise anyways as you get something beautiful at the end too!!

TwilightSurfer · 13/11/2008 15:08

Cyteen there is no lazy corner on the HOT MAMAS THREAD. Now run along back to the Post-Natal Thread if you wish to slouch.

All looks good with you ladies. Even if you are not "doing" something this moment, you are checking in and you are maintaining a positive attitude and holding on to the willingness to do well for yourself. We're not looking for perfection. Some days are good and others are bad. Memory is flakey but I do recall that even in yoga there are guidelines for practice that allow for a down time, typically during AF. Recording your activities here allows you to find a life balance that includes regular exercise (of some form) and healthy eating. As you know the tides are high and low & the moon waxes and wanes. You'll find that perfect groove and be all the better for it.

OP posts:
cyteen · 13/11/2008 15:16

Well, this is true. And I must be doing something right - I am wearing trousers that pre-baby were way too tight, now they are actually sliding down my hips.

TwilightSurfer · 13/11/2008 15:19

good job!

OP posts:
cyteen · 13/11/2008 15:46

Bugger. Just checked our local swimming pool and their creche is from 6 months onwards Oh well, back to expressing if I want to get a swim then!

poppysocks · 14/11/2008 09:44

That's fantastic cyteen. (trousers rather than pool creche!) Lazy away!

Just popped in to jump up and down a bit in an overexcited manner as I'm back into my favourite size 8s. Hooray! Hadn't tried before today as I reckoned I'd just be disappointed, but they're [whispers] loose. Huge muffin top, but loose everywhere else. I love these jeans.

Will ignore the muffin top for a while and just wear v. loose tops. I love these jeans.

TwilightSurfer · 14/11/2008 12:43

Cyteen six months is very close. {{{hugs}}}

Poppy SUPER FANTASTIC!!

OP posts:
VintageGardenia · 16/11/2008 11:36

Well no loss to report but I did go to the gym!

30 mins on cross trainer thing. V nice!

Super trouser news poppy and cyteen!!

sambo303 · 16/11/2008 20:04

Just popping on to update on the week. Positives first: attended post natal exercise class and walked to baby massage on Friday, have drunk several super healthy juices (including spinach, celery, beetroot and avocado - wow, tasty)
Slightly less positive: pizza and popcorn in front of Bond on Friday; crisps, Indian takeaway and wine tonight

Purchased rebounder on ebay for £5 - activity so far: put the legs on, bounced 5 times (exhausting!) - will need to hold onto boobs during exercise I think

Bought a size 12 skirt in charity shop, it now zips up easily (did not when purchased 3 weeks ago)

Plans for next week:
drink 2 litres water each day
swim on Thursday (fridge repair willing)
3 x walk with pram
1 x post natal exercise class
5 mins bouncing each day

Congrats to Poppy & Cyteen - very exciting trouser news.

Well done on gym attendance VG
