Welcome ladies of the Due August 2008 thread. Today is your day to begin REDEFINING your Post-Baby Body.

Please take a moment to STATE your SHORT TERM goal(s) and to STATE your LONG TERM goal(s) for overall health. This may include a weight you would like to reach, a fitness level you would like to attain, or size you would like to fit into.

I ask that you post at least twice a week. First to state what you plan to do during the week to reach your above goal(s). Then an end of the week post to let us know how you faired. BE HONEST! This is a SUPPORT THREAD so if you didn't find time to run a mile, admit it. Maybe someone else did the same and needs a running partner...thus a MEET-UP a might solve the problem. If you went above and beyond your expectations for the week, tell us and be an inspiration.

Now let's get started.

Blimey, you guys are putting me to shame (again) My achievements this week amount to not buying ice cream in the supermarket this afternoon. Although I shouldn't underplay it - I stood in front of the Haagen-Daaz (my mortal enemy) and then walked away...had a momentary waver by the cream cake section but saw sense and just bought a Snickers

I must must must go swimming soon. Walking is fine but not exactly burning the calories. Might see if there's a window for it this weekend (the pool is only up the road, I'm sure DP can hold the baby for half an hour).

sambo303 · 09/11/2008 20:14

Went for a walk this morning on local common with DS and DP, then walked to the shops this afternoon with my buggy. Makes up for yesterday when I did not leave the house and quaffed wine in front of x factor

This week I plan to swim on Tuesday + Thursday, and go to post natal exercise class on Friday. I plan to purchase a rebounder too as I can then exercise in my own front room, and may amuse DS at the same time

If ya'll haven't noticed I've taken a physical break to see if I can heal a little more.

However, I've done six full-plank push ups at least every other day. I've also walked twice this past week for about 30 minutes.

This break coinsides with the first huge appearance of AF in more than a year. Rest felt best.

This week I plan to continue the push ups and add some pilates. I really want to focus less on cardio and more on strength.

I don't think Ange will be needing this thread somehow.

Can someone please tell me

HOW THE BLARDY HELL...???

cyteen · 10/11/2008 13:53

having lots of sex with brad pitt, perhaps?

she's too thin for my liking though, in those pictures anyway.

VintageGardenia · 10/11/2008 16:01

Legs are a bit twiggy all right but OHHHH to be too thin rather than too solid at the moment.

Do you know, though, I don't fancy Brad Pitt one bit. (I'm sure he'll be devastated.)

sambo303 · 10/11/2008 16:11

yuk - too skinny, and Brad Pitt does nothing for me either. So there

I read Ange has been on 1200 calories a day and exercising 2 hours per day to look like that - does not sound like fun to me -

is she a good laugh? unlikely, and that's what counts

TwilightSurfer · 10/11/2008 18:47

Ladies. Ladies. This is a support thread. Angelina may be a lurking member. We come in all shapes and sizes here. It is our own personal best for which we are each striving. With that media link I see a woman who gave birth to twins via cs less than four short months ago and is now out again just like each one of us. YOU GO ANGELINA!!!

I've seen pictures of each registered member of this group and I think each and every one of you looks incredible. We are just redefining perfection here. Reshaping our post-pregnant selves into the eye catching HOT MAMAS that got ourselves knocked up in the first place.

dropped off my list. No excersise here, bit of walking but nowt to shout about.

All you ladies are doing so well.
I am still trying to get swimming.
Dh is off all next week.
Tis about time he had them both.

poppysocks · 10/11/2008 23:20

Dropped off my list too. Last week's hospital shenanigans put paid to any exercising, but that all that stress, plus the bug I picked up, should have helped a bit on the weight loss front, but no such evidence yet. Really seems to have slowed down now to about a lb every 10 days or so. Still, it's going in the right direction despite the marginally ridiculous consumption levels of refined sugar.

Congrats on that weight loss sambo. Fab! And everyone else on actually keeping the hot mamas thread current and all this swimming/yoga/pilates that seems to be going on.

Went back to 'body blast' this evening . Hooray! Must say, that was entirely down to you TS and your inspirational chat about calories continuing to burn after the exercise is finished. Thank you! Hope I'm still thanking you tomorrow morning when I'm aching!

Pram-walking patters will change this week as DD1 will now be going to nursery in the afternoons rather than mornings and with it getting dark some time soon after lunch now it's going to get more difficult, but aim to press on as that doesn't feel like exercise. Trouble is the latte and muffin that always seem to feature when my route just happens to pass my favourite coffee shop.

TwilightSurfer · 10/11/2008 23:53

Poppy you will most definitely be thanking me. If you are slightly sore it will be a good feeling, a feeling that you're building strength. The more muscle mass you have the more calories your body can tolerate effectively. Can't wait to hear your morning report.

And No1....walking is always something to shout about. That's movement and MOVEMENT is a GOOD thing.

Hi All - I've got a question about juice,- my DP and I recently invested in a juicer (DP has high blood pressure + high cholesterol and wants to get off his tablets, apparently raw food and juice help)

DP wants to do the detox in our juice recipe book by the Juice Master but he wants me to do it too for moral support. Can I do this whilst bf? Seems a bit extreme - apparently you can lose up to 5 lbs in 3 days (its a 3 day detox) - not sure if this is healthy. DP says, how about we do for 2 days??

poppysocks · 11/11/2008 10:23

Only a bit of stiffness today so all good. Thanks again TS.

Sorry sambo - don't know anything about juicers and juice diets. Suspect it's probably not massively bf friendly if you're getting that sort of weight loss. Could you maybe do it with DP but supplement with some proper food?

TwilightSurfer · 11/11/2008 15:52

Sambo I would say hold off until you're not bfing. It's one thing to monitor your foods and eat properly but detoxing is a whole other ballgame. You could join him with a few juices but you need to maintain your strength. Bfing takes alot out of you.

Hi All

Not much done last week - lots of walking in the wind and rain at the seaside but this was not helped by fantastic food - 3 courses every night and wonderful breakfast spreads, cream teas and pasties.

Today we walked into town and tomorrow will do the same as we have breastfeeding cafe in the afterneoon (rain permitting) If all goes well I will try and get in 30min swimming on Thursday but will have to see if MIL can have DD.

No gym this week as MIL is busy and we have no-one to look after DD.

TwilightSurfer · 11/11/2008 20:42

Sazzles I'm glad you made it to the pool I was worried we chatted too long.

Oops walking is an ACE in my book. You're doing nicely. And as for the bit of culinary indulgence, you are allowed to enjoy life when you properly care for your body...as you are doing each and every day as a member of this thread.

I've spent the last two days doing tummy work. Sorta pilates, sorta crunch-like. Plan to to push ups later and maybe take a walk. It's quite nice outside in a fall/wintery way....although it is a bit grey.

Everyone is doing incredibly well. I hope you are all liking the way you feel and getting at least a little pleasure at the reformation taking place in your mirror.
