Welcome ladies of the Due August 2008 thread. Today is your day to begin REDEFINING your Post-Baby Body.

Please take a moment to STATE your SHORT TERM goal(s) and to STATE your LONG TERM goal(s) for overall health. This may include a weight you would like to reach, a fitness level you would like to attain, or size you would like to fit into.

I ask that you post at least twice a week. First to state what you plan to do during the week to reach your above goal(s). Then an end of the week post to let us know how you faired. BE HONEST! This is a SUPPORT THREAD so if you didn't find time to run a mile, admit it. Maybe someone else did the same and needs a running partner...thus a MEET-UP a might solve the problem. If you went above and beyond your expectations for the week, tell us and be an inspiration.

Now let's get started.

No1 & Cyteen, great job! All this walking makes me so very jealous. I've not done a formal walk since Monday a week ago when I "over did it".

No1 does your DH/DP watch you while you do your workout??

OP posts:
cyteen · 28/10/2008 19:18

Sounds like you're getting a better range of exercise than me though TS, which means you're actively trying to exercise rather than just walking a lot out of desperation a desire to entertain self and baby

TwilightSurfer · 28/10/2008 19:33

LOL
okay so you might be correct with the mix of activities but since my "brisk" walk last monday all my activities have been put on the shelf where they sit and glare down at me as if the injury is my fault or I'm being wimpy.

Lol ts no dh as never watched me, He has only seen me climb/shimmy to the top of the pole nothing else. I will make him though when I get a bit better/fitter.

I suppose I will have to start at thye begining again. I bet I cant even lift myself up now.
I stopped when I found out I was pregnant.
Doesnt take long for me to go weak again iykwim. Especially with a bad back I have to be very careful with posture (I know we should anyway)

Hoping to start horse riding again soon too.

Its just difficult getting a sitter when dh is at work. My step mum always offers but I feel so guilty as she works and has my brother and sister too (11 and 13yrs)

poppysocks · 28/10/2008 21:44

'Body Blast' seemed to be basically weights training to music. Not really what I was looking for - need to burn rather more calories , but as toning is also a necessity it was still useful. Just could have done with more on tummy, bum, thighs etc. rather than arms (although they need it too...) Not as stiff as I expected to be today. Didn't manage anything good today and after a rather stressful drive with two screaming DDs, I fell off the wagon and succumbed to a midweek G&T. Now scoffing munchies .

TwilightSurfer · 28/10/2008 22:25

poppy that isn't at all what i thought it would be...sounds even better actually.
here's why:

  1. muscle work as i understand it burns calories for hours after "pumping iron" not just the up burn then drop you get from hard core aerobic activity.
  2. and for true livelong reformation you have to balance your workout. solely working abs or butt is ineffective training as your body seeks to balance itself. you butt sees that you arms are saggy so it chooses to on develope so far...your tummy hears that your legs don't require training so it throws in the towel in protest. BUT if you work your abs as much as your arms and butt and calves and back then they get the picture that this is a TEAM effort thus an all over beautiful (and cooperative) body reformation.

You Go Girl!!

very impressed at people getting out to exercise classes

have been ultra depressed after hopping on doc's scales at my 6 week check (at 7 weeks) - have 2 stone to lose not one as hoped

have realised BF is not the miracle I thought - 7 weeks of BF and I am only 5KG less than the day before I gave birth and the baby was 3.67KG - very glum indeed. It seems a mountain to climb.

Modifications now need to be made to my diet - I absolutely HATE diets

have been out regularly for walks with my pram, no swimming yet, hopefully next week as was away last weekend and Felix has his injections tomorrow so no plans for the days following that.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 29/10/2008 16:02

only one dog walk today. But ds has been for his first set of injections.
He is very today.

advice needed regarding reusables.
I really want to give them a go. Dh does not.

Saw price of some and said dont think so. I said initial outlet may sound expensive but we will save in the long run.
He disagrees as he said ok what about washing
detergent
water
electric
tumble dryer if we need to use it to get them dried quickly...... I take it you get the picture.

so.. those that use them, what do you recommend I buy/try. to see how I get on with them re washing drying etc...

(THink the real reason dh objects is because I am lazy not very organised and he will end up washing them as he usualy does the laundry anyway. )

There is so many to chose I dont know where to start.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 29/10/2008 19:56

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 29/10/2008 20:13

HElloooooooooooooooooooo

Today I went back to the gym - I am quite possibley the hippy happiest bunny around - I forgot how amazing it made me feel.

10mins on the around the world programme on the bike level 9, 12mins everest programme on the cross trainer and 20, yes you read that correctly, 20 minutes interval training on the running machine 30 seconds walk 2.5 mins run then loads of ab work and some arm weights.

TwilightSurfer · 03/11/2008 20:47

NICE JOB Oops!!

OP posts:
no1putsbabyinthecorner · 04/11/2008 08:53

I lost 2 1b this week, I am weighing every sunday.
Only done walking though.

I will get in the gym this week.
Ts I checked out my dance pole dvd

Looks very hard, most of the routines are inverts upside down on the pole.

I bought the intermediate to advanced dvd as I have done everything on the begginers.

Will have to get some serious practice in to master some of them.
She makes it look so easy

TwilightSurfer · 04/11/2008 12:22

No1 you are a real inspiration to us all. Be careful with the new moves.
