Welcome ladies of the Due August 2008 thread. Today is your day to begin REDEFINING your Post-Baby Body.

Please take a moment to STATE your SHORT TERM goal(s) and to STATE your LONG TERM goal(s) for overall health. This may include a weight you would like to reach, a fitness level you would like to attain, or size you would like to fit into.

I ask that you post at least twice a week. First to state what you plan to do during the week to reach your above goal(s). Then an end of the week post to let us know how you faired. BE HONEST! This is a SUPPORT THREAD so if you didn't find time to run a mile, admit it. Maybe someone else did the same and needs a running partner...thus a MEET-UP a might solve the problem. If you went above and beyond your expectations for the week, tell us and be an inspiration.

Now let's get started.

I went to the spinning class. And I survived! Just. Just at the point where I thought it was all getting too much we started the warm down. Phew. Will try to go back next week, but would probably prefer a slightly slower class that was more about toning, but it's the only one I can make.

Other aims going ok, although as always, rather less chocolate would be more sensible.

Hopefully it won't be chucking it down tomorrow am, so will be able to join everyone in the pram-pushing form of exercise. Far more civilised.

sambo303 · 22/10/2008 09:16

Phew, dont know where that week went, Did some big walks with pram, one 2 hours with my silver cross. Have checked out creche at local leisure centre and they take babies from 6 weeks, and ladies running it are lovely - so swimming very soon - may try tomorrow before doctors at 2.30pm.

Healthy eating went ok til I went to my mums this weekend to give DP an opportunity to sleep and had lots of puds.

I have lost weight i think, as now tightening maternity jeans belt 2 notches tighter (and DP said he thought I'd lost weight which means it's noticable to a man!!)

Not enought to get into any pre preg jeans and have no idea what i weigh yet. Was 75kg day before labour so 2 stone 11 lbs more than pre preg weight. Think I may be < 10 stone now (fingers crossed) and can weigh self at gym if i go tomorrow - may go to do that out of interest

I am BF and have heard that you retain 10lbs to ensure supply and this ony goes once you stop BF.

TwilightSurfer · 22/10/2008 12:17

Sambo, well done. No worries about the weekend splurge. Can't wait to hear how this week goes for you.

Poppy, how do you feel?

OP posts:
poppysocks · 22/10/2008 14:56

Thanks for asking TS. I'm alive! And only a very little bit stiff. Did take a bit more effort than usual to power walk the pram into town this morning but that might be down to the fact that Emily now barely fits in it !

I'm liking your 10lb for bf theory sambo. I def lost a fair bit for no effort at all when I stopped last time. Maybe half a stone, so here's hoping for a repeat!

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 22/10/2008 15:39

Well after a 2 hour round trip drive to collect new pram, Thought would be wise to go for a walk with dog and try it out, only managed 3,758 steps but Suppose its a start.

Must drink more water too.
Poppy that spinning class sounds painful to me. well done you

Sambo303 well done you too, is it the coach built silvercross you have, If so They good for walking I have one too, although my arms burn when dd is on the toddler seat so I think that counts as excersie too.

Great Job No1!

Sambo your activity today is golden after yesterdays class.

Glad we all seem to be in agreement about my weight/bf theory. Just means there's alot to look forward to for some in the near future.

No1 not sure if coach built - it's from the 70s I think, called a Normandy according to the lady I bought it off. Not sure how much it weighs but glides so beautifully and Felix is less than 11 lbs so it doesnt really provide much of an arm work out tbh.

i did another few miles on wednesday but nothing yesterday and likely nothing today...don't forget though that we're all still toting these growing babes around, not to mention those of you running after older ones, so no day is ever a write-off!

VintageGardenia · 24/10/2008 10:20

No mileage for me. Pram buggered and can't walk long distances (ha ha for me a mile is a "long distance") with the sling so stuck on my bum till pram fixed.

grrr

TwilightSurfer · 24/10/2008 12:44

RAIN RAIN GO AWAY COME BACK ANOTHER DAY

still hurting from mondays craziness
think it was the brisk walking
means i probably still have hip issues

OP posts:
no1putsbabyinthecorner · 24/10/2008 20:14

well I ahve hit my target of walking 10 thousand steps yesterday and today. I am aiming for 12 thousand a day to start with.

But not been drinking as much as I should, always think, 'will get a drink now', but then end up doing something else.

poppysocks · 24/10/2008 21:28

Well, on paper, rubbish for the last few days, due to rain scuppering morning walk plans. However, have felt physically exhausted when DH has got home thanks to the constant buzzing around with two small DDs and attendant activities. Not sure whether that will help with weight loss but at least feel that I'm using my body. So much better than being at work and sitting behind a desk all the time.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 26/10/2008 15:23

nothing to report just thought I would post to stop it dropping off my list

TwilightSurfer · 26/10/2008 16:37

well ladies your cheerleader SUCKS! Monday was the ONLY day I exercised. Guess my marathon objective might need a little pairing down.

DH in Nashville until Wednesday. That said, I have no excuse for not getting something done.

THIS WEEK'S GOALS:
2x20min pilates
2x15 pushups
2x15 crunches
2x20min yoga
4x10min meditation
1 foot scrub and pedicure

Sibh · 26/10/2008 22:24

Like VG, I've managed to lose 2.5 pounds since we started but I'm doing lots of walking and even managed a baby yoga class last week which was fantastic. It was only a taster session though and the nearest class is 30 miles away, which is a shame.

I had DD with me though, and the sight of her doing all the moves with her doll was priceless, not least because she could do all the positions with total ease. All the women there with their first-borns were in hysterics watching her ...

Too much cake has been eaten this weekend for any weight loss to be going on, but renewed efforts will start tomorrow.

TwilightSurfer · 27/10/2008 00:55

Sibh I so wish you'd been able to video your DD doing the class with you. Those type memories are absolutely priceless!!!

OP posts:
poppysocks · 27/10/2008 22:12

I managed another class! 'Body Blast' this time. Found it fine again, barring some horrible shouldery stuff, but suspect I'll be very very sore tomorrow as it was much more weightsy.

No sign of any weight dropping off me though

Now, just need to keep it all up...

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 28/10/2008 08:50

Sibh that is so sweet of your dd.
Agree with TS they are priceless moments.
POPPY body blast that sounds scary and like a very serious workout
well done.

I have sarted my walking, did several miles yesterday pushing 2 heavy lumps.

Made myself walk dog down a very long hill so I had a workout pushing pram back up

Dog very she got took out twice.
I also got my name down for another pilate course.

still waiting for my new dvd

TwilightSurfer · 28/10/2008 12:23

Poppy, please explain a body blast class.

Nice work No1!!

OP posts:
cyteen · 28/10/2008 12:34

Aye, good work No1

Walked into/around town yesterday, so probably 3 miles or so. Also my first day without chocolate or cake in a long time. Nothing today, tis pissing it down - I might attempt some push ups. Tomorrow should be a killer though, am walking into town for bf cafe thing in the morning, then walking over to a friend's for an NCT meet-up, then back into town to catch the bus home. Will be a good 6 miles I reckon

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 28/10/2008 15:25

sounds good Cyteen
I have just got in from another long walk into next village and back. Not sure how far but my pedometer says I have done 8,000 steps ish. aiming for 12,000 a day so will try when I take dog out again later.

Going to watch my new work out dvd later and then attempt it tomorow night when hopefully both dc will be asleep
we will see....

Failing that dh will have to take the pole out of gym and put it up in front room, so can keep an eye on the dc.
