Welcome ladies of the Due August 2008 thread. Today is your day to begin REDEFINING your Post-Baby Body.

Please take a moment to STATE your SHORT TERM goal(s) and to STATE your LONG TERM goal(s) for overall health. This may include a weight you would like to reach, a fitness level you would like to attain, or size you would like to fit into.

I ask that you post at least twice a week. First to state what you plan to do during the week to reach your above goal(s). Then an end of the week post to let us know how you faired. BE HONEST! This is a SUPPORT THREAD so if you didn't find time to run a mile, admit it. Maybe someone else did the same and needs a running partner...thus a MEET-UP a might solve the problem. If you went above and beyond your expectations for the week, tell us and be an inspiration.

Now let's get started.

Check out how easily your exercise goals can prepare you for a MARATHON.

Training Schedule to walk a 10K.

I'm not saying we all should walk a maraton BUT the work you are doing does have it's rewards. Most of us are attempting to schedule our exercises pretty much like the plan in the link above.

Wow! Only 8 weeks to be conditioned enough to walk a 10K MARATHON!!! That's pretty cool in my book.

Sazzles I think your physical activites are AWESOME! And yes, wrestling a tantrumming toddler counts. How's the healthy snacking coming along? Your stones are not horrible and with your devotion to exercise (our flying fish), you will be where you want to be in no time.

ALBS, clothing sizes are all crap anyway...no two are the same. I honestly think a size 14 is really a size 2. Some crazed loon began altering clothing sizes years ago.

VG your pramming!! Good job.

Gigglegirl, very impressed at your full marathon walk goal. I'll be working toward a similar goal on a 20 week training plan. What's yours?

Last week's goals were achieved minus the water in take but I attribute that failure to the UTI which I finally figured out I have. First dose of meds taken minutes ago.

This week's goals...
M: 15 minute Moderate Walking
T: 20 minute Pilates
W: 20 minute Intensity Walking & Mommy/Me Yoga
T: 30 minute Moderate Walking
F: 20 minute Intensity Walking
S: REST
S: 2 MILE ENDURANCE WALK

plus 30oz water every day!

The walks will all include pram pushing unless DH trades out with me. OH yeah, DH has agreed to do the above WITH ME!!!

This had dropped off my threads list.

Not much excercise here, just a bit of walking. Not had the energy tbh as still poorly.
Dh said he will help me work a programme out for getting back in gym.

Also working out his shift pattern so I can go off for a swim and back to pole dancing at least once a week.

Once ds is in a better sleep routine we will go in gym together and take baby monitor in with us. It is next to house so not far.

poppysocks · 20/10/2008 22:35

Well, now that we're back from our hols, I'm back on the wagon . Aims currently are:

3 meals per day and limited snacking in between
Good long walk each morning when DD is at nursery (4 days) and at least once at the weekend
Drink lots of water and no booze 4 evenings per week

And... drumroll.... am considering braving a spinning class tomorrow night. I can do this...can't I?

poppysocks · 20/10/2008 22:59

I type all of this one-handed while using the other to scoff revels.

VintageGardenia · 21/10/2008 10:13

Sorry - been vv busy last couple of days.

LOL at the Revels, poppy!

Last week's goals:

  1. Drink 2 litres of water every day YES
  2. Drink fresh juice for brekker MOST DAYS
  3. Walk every day with pram minimum half an hour. YES
  4. Do one two-hour walk with pram. YES did a 6.5 miler with pram and a 4.5 miler without
  5. Do pelvic floors NO!
  6. Go to aquarobic session Tue pm. YES

Weight loss is nearly 1 pound. I will seriously need to review my regime because at this rate I will have lost just over two and a half pounds and surely that can't be healthy . Good Christ, the effort for such a tiny reward!!

My goals are the same again. Plus, NOT to buy too many Halloween treats too far in advance, eat em all and have to restock .

cyteen · 21/10/2008 17:07

walked about 6 miles today with pram, of course. the weather is so gorgeous that it would be a shame not to.

also eaten 3 bits of cake but that's fine with me

TwilightSurfer · 21/10/2008 17:39

OMG ya'll are racking up the miles. GO JOB!

Daily Note o Progress
(just doing this because i keep forgetting everything)

~~Monday~~
20min walk (15 briskly)
25 push ups
one set sun salutations series
one set warrior series
48oz water

OP posts:
VintageGardenia · 21/10/2008 17:46

push ups????

TwilightSurfer · 21/10/2008 18:40

i'm balancing my workout by focusing on other parts of my body and not just the midsection. although push ups when done properly also work to tone your core.

OP posts:
VintageGardenia · 21/10/2008 18:44

Don't get me wrong I can understand the benefits of push ups am just stunned that you can do em, and 25 of em to boot! I can't even do one!

TwilightSurfer · 21/10/2008 18:48

This was the first time I've been able to do any since my surgery (well since my belly got big). My tummy just wasn't worth crap. Since I was feeling strong I thought I'd give it a try and WOW it worked so I did a few sets with rests in between and managed to get twenty five push-ups done. I sorta amazed myself.

Thanks for the pat on the back.

This of course does not compare to your pramming. To which I bow at your feet....

RANDOM THOUGHT
For those who's weight seems to be stablized at whatever level, are you breastfeeding?

With DD1 I started out breastfeeding before switching to formula. My weight dropped some but then leveled off and hung for several months. BUT with Reese I didn't even try to breastfeed and the weight was all gone in two weeks.

Now I have no degrees on the subject matter BUT is it possible the weight levels out so as to help with milk production?? It's my understanding that when the body senses times of famine it stores fats to survive. If someone is "feeding" off of you then would your body read that as a famine type situation and stabilize fat stores so it makes sure you survive the infant feeding time???

Well done to you all, I have done no exercise at all.

Re weightloss I once read a very interesting article that said weightloss is very hard when you dont get enough sleep.

For some medical reason cant remember what your body stores/holds on to fat when you get poor sleep. I may be talking complete crap but its a good excuse for me

TwilightSurfer · 21/10/2008 20:39

Sun Salutation or Surya Namaskar

Dont suppose you could tell me what a size 30 is. Is it 10 or 12?

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 21/10/2008 21:16

*gigglegirl I would love some of your energy. All my get up and go got up and left.

I dont know how you do so many things I feel ashamed.

cc hope your dniece and ds1 is adjusting.

Sazzlesa My dd also sees my dh as play time everytime he goes or tries to settle her she gets up and starts playing

She is actualy still up sat under the table playing with my jeans. Due to a nap at 5
