Welcome ladies of the Due August 2008 thread. Today is your day to begin REDEFINING your Post-Baby Body.

Please take a moment to STATE your SHORT TERM goal(s) and to STATE your LONG TERM goal(s) for overall health. This may include a weight you would like to reach, a fitness level you would like to attain, or size you would like to fit into.

I ask that you post at least twice a week. First to state what you plan to do during the week to reach your above goal(s). Then an end of the week post to let us know how you faired. BE HONEST! This is a SUPPORT THREAD so if you didn't find time to run a mile, admit it. Maybe someone else did the same and needs a running partner...thus a MEET-UP a might solve the problem. If you went above and beyond your expectations for the week, tell us and be an inspiration.

Now let's get started.

oops forgot long term goal - which is, back in civvies by Christmas.

My sister and sister in law both had babies in last 3 months and both are skinny minnies and don't look like they've had babies now - dont want to be the fat one at Christmas

cyteen · 14/10/2008 13:28

hey, i thought of something positive the other day - with all this carrying of babies we should be on track for well toned thighs and bums, since every time i have to pick something up off the floor i'm essentially doing squats

TwilightSurfer · 14/10/2008 14:26

Sambo WELCOME! Very impressive this swimming you speak of...i am . Sazzles is our current flying fish. If you guys live close you could be swimming support buddies. Glad you joined us. The more HOT MAMAS the better!!!

Ah, VG -the pic makes me very nostalgic about the walks DH and I took at weekends when I was working in Dublin the first year we were together. God, that was a long time ago. We managed a walk here last weekend but the rain has been terrible since.

Well, I didn't lose any weight this week, but I did manage to keep last week's weight off, and I'm fitting into trousers that weren't going on at all last Monday, so something is happening.

I badly over-committed myself last week to doing silly things like minding other people's children, and so ended up eating too much just to get through. I've been eating better though and even managed a quick swim on Saturday, so with a bit more focus I might get better results this week.

VintageGardenia · 14/10/2008 22:05

Wow Sibh that look absolutely gorgeous! Lucky you to be nearby. I am so glad I walked yesterday, as today it was tipping rain the whole day. Just the right meteorological background for Budget Day! I know what you mean about eating too much just to get through - and about over-committing. You've kept off what you lost and must have toned up or something if the trews are fastening, so keep the faith.

TwilightSurfer · 14/10/2008 22:13

Sibh you are the first to remark about what I like to call SHAPE SHIFTING. You don't drop weight but things fit better.

TwilightSurfer · 15/10/2008 01:47

I did pilates today.

Sazzles when you did your class did you do rolls and stuff? I didn't feel confident to try them so I altered that part of the program. Am I just being chicken? Should my CS wound be healed enough to handle that??

I also did a few minutes of tai chi.

My yoga studio doesn't have childcare service tomorrow so I have to move my yoga class AGAIN. Maybe I'll get to start it NEXT WEEK. Since yoga is on my weekly goals I'll have to fit it in another way.

OP posts:
VintageGardenia · 15/10/2008 08:15

how can I have put on four pounds overnight and now be above my starting weight?? [angry}

I don't know about your Pilates query I'm sure Sazzles will be along soon. There's a daytime class at my gym but I haven't quite got round to leaving ds in the creche, I'm still not quite comfortable with it.

TwilightSurfer · 15/10/2008 14:03

4lbs could be poop....really, i'm serious

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 15/10/2008 14:05

you are also bfing...there's weight to breast milk...easily a pound when full. that reminds me didn't longway weigh her boobs way back when we were all pregnant??

OP posts:
poppysocks · 15/10/2008 22:35

Apologies... this fell off my threads I'm on. I'm back though!

No idea what my weight's doing as we're away from home and scales, but think it may be going in the right direction [hopeful].

Was supposed to go to an aquaerobics session yesterday, but that was scuppered by my melted fingers. Managed 'power pump' today though and managed it without breaking into a sweat! Think this says more about the crapness of the class than my fitness, but it does suggest I'm fitter than I should be given my total lack of formal exercise since I found out I was pg with DD1 . Still have a hilariously soft midsection though .

VG -- that's what happened to me last week. I lost two pounds, put on three randomly with no radical changes to my eating habits. It then took all week to get back to the starting point. What is that about? It's disheartening isn't it?

I was glad to hear about your Wispa on budget night though. I settled for Primetime and some Lidl white chocolate with nuts in which was fab.

Do you think the Lidl and retro elements of our snacks mean we were rejecting excess and doing 'our patriotic duty'?

Having just sat here and eaten half a bag of sensations and half a 230g bar choc and feeling guilty yet unable to stop myself I think I need to think about coming over here.

Not sure what i weigh - too much for 5ft2 that's for sure. Am currently in size 16 trousers (except one very forgiving pair of per una size 14s).
KNow I eat too much and too much crap. I used to be really good but often i'm finding myself not eating any fruit or veg til dinner time

VintageGardenia · 16/10/2008 22:30

Hi all. TS not watched your inspiration yet but will do so. Currently in bed with DP reading and littlun sucking his thumb so not going to risk clicking on inspirational video link which may have rousing cheers and other loud noises! DP would be most if he knew I was MNing in bed.

LOL at patriotic duty, Sibh, tis just like WWII!

I'd be up for a weigh in day, at the moment I'm doing Mondays (though I am weighing myself every day, I know you're not meant to!) because under TS's guidance I have been doing Monday to Monday goals (note how I speak as if have been doing this for years rather than 2 weeks). So nice to check off goals and see what result they had! I don't think I'll be posting my actual weight (too, too shocking!) but will say whatever I'm plus minus.

Walked 2.2 miles today pushing pram through damn thick gravel but was on pier at harbour in dazzling sun so was absolutely beautiful. See, I consider it to be an achievement to have done that, while Sazz casually posts Oh I worked out I walked a couple of miles every day this week!! Sob, sob, my goals are pathetic.

albs I'm 5'2 too so I feel your pain. Shorties like us have nowhere to hide a few extra pounds, that's the problem.

gigglegirl · 17/10/2008 14:03

ok I've been pants eaten loads and loads of crap! and done naff all excercise as I still don't have a pushchair that is fixed!

but .... drum roll please.......

I have signed up to do the moonwalk - 26.2 miles of power walking in London starting at midnight! So I will have to get training and fundraising!

Has anyone tried the Paul McKenna Cds - do they work?

Have located the abs excercise roller thing so need to start using that and do a DVD but motivation not great when you are covered in baby vomit!

cyteen · 18/10/2008 10:58

wow, good luck gigglegirl! i know a few ppl who have done the moonwalk, they all said it's hard work but very rewarding

TwilightSurfer · 18/10/2008 16:04

some please remind me stone equals how many pounds???

off to kids museum..yipee

OP posts:
poppysocks · 18/10/2008 21:25

Hi TS. Pretty sure it's 14 lbs to a stone (as opposed to 16 oz to a lb)? So logical...

Well, weighed in after the hol and I appear to be the same as before we went away, so good, I guess, although had sort of hoped that more weight would disappear despite eating and drinking far more, alongside having to do less DC related running around with DH around .
