moonshine · 30/05/2005 22:55

But I am in no danger of spilling wine over it atm [angelic, slightly smug emoticon]

Puff · 31/05/2005 11:26

Stayed the same this week, didn't expect to lose as I have been having a week off tbh!

champs · 31/05/2005 14:45

lol moonshine!!

puff -- maintenance is a good thing

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 31/05/2005 17:15

Right, well, there's a half bottle of wine in the fridge so um, I think I'll start tomorrow and make June a whole month of no booze, no butter, no crap. Ahem. Today's been terrible so may as well drink the wine tbh!

2 pieces toast, marmite, olive spread
pitta with hummus and salad
half a choc chip cookie
a packet of crisps (we were out and I didn't take food with me)
And surely there's more but actually I don't think there is. I feel full though so will have an omelette and a glass of wine tonight, early night and start again in earnest tomorrow. Really. I look pregnant, it's got to stop!

champs · 31/05/2005 17:48

not so bad www!! good idea to start a fresh month tho. new motivation and all that.

OP posts:
Puff · 02/06/2005 09:37

I need a kick up the *rse.

I've been faffing around, snacking, eating bread (we all know what a disaster that is for me ). I'm going away at the end of this month. I'm so close to going under another "stone marker" but can't seem to get there. My diet works but I'm not sticking to it sensibly.

Help!

bran · 02/06/2005 10:06

Big KICK for Puff. You know you're not happy when you eat bread, so just STOP. Now I feel guilty for kicking , I'm not normally violent .

Yes, you are all right, if I can't even find time to post on mumsnet, then I definitely can't cope with all the weighing and counting on WW. I will try and stop buying biscuits though, and just give people a coffe and nothing else when they come over. On the plus side my weight has dropped a little (although it does tend to go up and down for no particular reason) and I've been doing a lot more walking. DS still isn't thrilled to be in the pushchair, but I try to go somewhere that he does like most times so he's making less of a fuss when he goes in now.

Thanks for the link OM, I'm trying to get dh to have a look and see which ones we might try out, but he's working all hours so we barely see each other at the moment. What do you do with all the stuff that I seem to have to carry with me, it's not so bad if I hook the bag on to the pushchair but it's quite heavy to carry for a long time.

It's his birthday the weekend after next so I will not think about dieting at all until after I've had a big slice of his birthday cake . I've just ordered the cake from Waitrose and it's really pretty. He's going to be 1.

OxyMoron · 02/06/2005 11:56

Puff, I can so sypathise, because I need a damn good kick up the *rse too. (Almost typed 'kiss' lol!)

Moonshine -
Can your dp/dh give you some time to yourself to go do some exercise.
And ask yourself, is that snacking or not so healthly eating really improving things (apart from that initial rush of satisfaction which is always short-lived - believe me I've been there many a-time).

In a way I think excercise is the key - but how? At the moment I manage - a walk most days, usually carrying dd. One yoga class per week. And that's it, unless you count housework! I think if IO could get my excercise up to better levels, I wouldn't have a problem, but until dd's older I can't see how to do it.

Snacking - argh! I think snacking per se is not a problem. I seem top do best on 3 meals and 2 snacks per day. But I'm slipping back into sugar cravings. And the thing is I know I'll feel crap (both physically and mentally) for doing it, but that doesn't stop me. It's like some kind of addictive behaviour or something. And I don't really know why I do it. Maybe if I understood the cause I coiuld do something about it, but...
sigh I hate fighting with myself the whole time.

And well done on your massive loss, btw.

Just to let you all know, I have been very very bad this week. Not eating properly, then filling up on junk. But have maintained again. One off the things I've discovered is key for me is making time to eat properly, but then life gets on top of me again and it all goes out the window. I think I'm just not organised enough. It gets frustrating because, like Puff, I know it works if I stick to it!!!!!!!

And finally: Bran -
Aww, hope you have a great time on your ds's birthday.
And as for the baby carrying, well ...
If you get a framed backpack, choose one with generous pockets as an integral part of the rucksack design.
The ergo carrier I mentioned (which I have now seen in the flesh and looks fantastic! But I MUST not spend any more money, I do NOT need another sling!) can be bought with a specially designed bag which clips around the carrier straps and holds all your stuff. I tend to use a Mei Tai carrier mostly (the kozy, in my case) and If I have a lot of stuff to carry then I put dd on my front and a rucksack on my back. Otherwise I'll put her on my front, hip or back and take a low slung shoulder bag.
Also remember, the more you carry him, the stronger and fitter you'll get, so soon it won't be such a problem. Though I don't use the stroller much anymore, what I used to do was put a sling in the bottom of the stroller so we could swap when she got restless (using the 'change is as good as a rest' principle).

Anyway, hope you're all doing well.
Maybe I'll be able to report back in a better mood next week.

moonshine · 06/06/2005 21:07

Hello all - quite quiet on this thread atm. I just haven't had the time (or energy) to get on MN as much as I'd like to recently.

OM - well walking is good. I guess I meant, if possible, a child-free brisk walk/jog on a Saturday Sunday morning when your dh can give you time all to yourself. But it sounds like you really are doing fine, just need a few tweaks.

Bran - my ds is one on 10th June - did you mean that weekend?

I am still doing my LL diet successfully. Bought a pair of size 16 trousers which were snug but I could get them on - now this is exciting for someone who was a size 24/26 on 1st April !

WideWebWitch · 06/06/2005 21:11

I am about to embark (first day today) on a month of no booze and lots of walking. Today

2 pieces toast, marmite
100g smoked salmon
omelette made with one egg, with mushrooms, cooked in a teaspoon of sunflower oil
a small piece of walnut cake
5 cherry tomatoes
the crusts of a piece of eggy bread
5 fishfingers
peas
2 slices kids garlic bread (oops)
1 piece bread with brown sauce in it.

but no booze. Am expecting to feel on top of the world tomorrow as a result.

WideWebWitch · 06/06/2005 21:12

Well done on that loss too moonshine, fab!

Puff · 06/06/2005 21:14

moonshine - well done you!

www - good luck with no booze, I find the first week the hardest, then it get's a little easier!

moonshine · 06/06/2005 21:20

Good luck WWW with no booze - just pretend you're pregnant or something!

Puff - am presuming you were once a dragon but now that you have lost so much weight you are like a wisp of breath!

Puff · 06/06/2005 22:49

hehe moonshine, that's me !

Puff · 07/06/2005 10:30

Steyed the same again this week. Ok - so I've had my diet "holiday" now it's back to business. I've got 18 days to lose 6lbs - my target before my hols.

bran · 08/06/2005 16:49

Ooops, I've been meaning to phone my WW leader and tell her why I haven't been for so long, every so often she sends out a reminder and I feel guilty that I still haven't told her. Guess who I bumped into at a playgroup this morning. She was very nice about it though, and said not to worry WW would still be there whenever I wanted to rejoin. She also thought ds was gorgeous (I've always quite liked her ).

Moonshine, your ds is only 2 days older than mine who is one on the 12th. I hope your ds has a happy birthday.

Puff, good luck with your target I hope you get there.

moonshine · 09/06/2005 11:09

Puff - that's very do-able so good luck. Are you still doing the GI diet?

Ah Bran - birthday buddies! Happy Birthday to Branboy on Sunday - are you having a big party? (I'm being mean mummy and doing practically nothing !). Your WW leader sounds nice - plenty of time to get back on that wheel though.

Champs - hope you're getting that hose and paddling pool today. This time last year I was sweating it out and getting twinges! Ah memories......

glitterfairy · 09/06/2005 15:42

HI guys am still losing and have lost two stone so far! I am now doing a mile and a half on the treadmill having got over the hurdle of five minutes running and am managing six minutes running possibly because of lost weight.

Bran LOL parenting little ones is the worst time to diet! It is hard enough to cope without sleep without worrying about weight! The only thing is dont lose sight of your own needs in all this. I did for a while and know it was wrong but motherhood does that to you.

Champs hun thanks for the encouragement Glad you are ok and the bump is coming along.

Everyone else thanks again for encouraging me and I will keep reporting back in. Respect to the GI diet by the way the first diet I have ever enjoyed!!!!!

champs · 10/06/2005 13:39

I went clothes chopping today and have dropped a ize but it is a bit big so brought a pair of jeans two sizes smaller than four weeks ago and am hoping to get into them in four weeks I need to lose about two inches off my tummy!

I think you are right Champs and at last have found the diet for me! Hurray! It will be tested this week though as I am going away for five nights to hotels. Must stay strong. Also my gym is closed for a week for a refurb so am going to run with the dog every morning until wednesday when I go to London and see Beets so she can tell you all how I am doing.

champs · 12/06/2005 22:49

Bet doggy will be pleased about gym closing as (s)he gets to take you for a run.

OP posts:
bran · 12/06/2005 22:56

Hi Champs,I don't know where everyone else is, but I've been scoffing birthday cake. dh and I had a piece after dinner tonight and dh said "I thought there was a lot more than that left over", I did my best to look innocent but failed.

Fab news GF, you sound on top of the world, the GI diet must be keeping your energy levels right up. Hope you and Beetroot have a great time in London.

champs · 13/06/2005 00:43
