whoohoo glitter!! keep it up hun. btw I will still be here slugging away at this weight when the others are on "I am a slimmie" Thread
hopefully this diet will work for you and you wont need to change again.

www -- really dreading summer to tell you the truth, I was so miserable last time!
there was a take on weight watchers that had quite low points in the week and no counting any points at all at the weekend. so that you could do your own thing at weekend and still loose weight, plan was that you would be used to the diet in the week and your appetite wouldn't be as big as before so you wouldn't really go over too much more than a whole weeks worth of points.
didn't trust it for myself as I'm such a greedy guts prob would have ate for england at weekend and put on!!

Puff - I'm only a year behind you (39 in July) but have had this strange compulsion every now and then to go for a 3rd even though I can hardly cope with 2 and think I am, deep down, too selfish to spread myself even thinner (although there is a lot of me to spread ). I think part of it may have something to do with the fact the dh and I both come from families with 4 and 3 siblings respectively. But I do feel I have been lucky up until now (2 relatively easy pregnancies, 2 healthy lovely children, one of each variety!) and think someone up there will 'get' me 3rd time round.

Wow Oxymoron, you have done really really well. 10 kgs in 2.5 months is definitely achieveable but would probably mean being reasonably strict most of the time. Good luck!

I too can be saintly during the week but always put the weight back on starting from Friday night! Gawd knows how many times I've lost the same 2 or 3lbs.

OxyMoron · 09/05/2005 21:17

Thought I'd share a quote that's amused me for years:

I've been on a constant diet for the last two decades. I've lost a total of 789 pounds. By all accounts, I should be hanging from a charm bracelet. ~Erma Bombeck

PuffTheMagicDragon · 10/05/2005 14:36

moonshine - wise words!

OM -lol !

Lost 4lbs this week, most of it bread de-bloat I think.

WideWebWitch · 10/05/2005 17:15

Cor well done puff. Here to post yesterday's food,

large handful of strawberries
3/4 of an avocado
200g smoked salmon
sesame snap
2 apples
omelette with tiny bit of goats cheese and most of a yellow pepper
5 fishfingers
large bowl of peas
100cal chocolate

And today
1 piece toast, marmite
half an avocado
2 apples
omelette with goats cheese and half a red pepper
100 cal of garlic bread, oops but at least I did only eat a quarter of it and I know it's 100cal
a bowl of peas
Don't know what we're having tonight, can't even begin to think about it, it's taking all my will power to stop myself eating any more garlic pizza bread.
And I walked both ways on the school run today so that's at least 80 minutes walking pushing a buggy.
Thanks for listening.

PuffTheMagicDragon · 10/05/2005 21:07

WWW - how many cals are those packets of sesame snaps? I'd like to get some as an alternative treat to the green & black's choc bar.

You are doing loads of walking. I need to start some proper exercise.

WideWebWitch · 11/05/2005 07:44

Puff, they're 165 cals and 50% sugar so not the best but at least sesame seeds are good for you. The 20g G&B bars are only 100 cal! Drank loads of wine last night and ate garlic bread and chocolate. May walk today to try to atone but may not, feel hacked off with life in general, not just dieting, it seems to be quite a lot of boring drudgery in my case atm

PuffTheMagicDragon · 11/05/2005 11:38

Thanks www - they're very sweet as opposed to deeply chocolatey, so they'll be a bit of a change.

It's hard to stick to a diet when you're not feeling great - I've had times where I've just decided that staying the same weight is as much as I can manage for a couple of weeks - takes the psychological pressure of "I must lose weight" off a bit.

champs · 11/05/2005 13:35

lol Ox!!

puff -- whahey!! well done. sesame snacks come with choc on top how could they be so mean!!

www -- sorry you're feeling like this. really hard to be motivated when you feel like that isn't it.

cherries are back! cherries are BACK I am sooooo happy (can you tell?) they are the one fruit that keep me away from sweet and chocs. they are expensive but soooo yummy. I think I spend so much money on them it's a good job they're not a year round fruit!

OP posts:
glitterfairy · 11/05/2005 13:43

oxy brilliant. That is what is soul destroying at times as I lose the same stone over and over again! But then again if I did the opposite thing and calculated all the weight I had put on over the years I would be so heavy I wouldnt need gravity ot hold me down!

Anyway new GI diet going very well and I am really really not that hungry on it. I like being able to have smal snacks between meals and eat a reasonable amount each day.

champs · 11/05/2005 13:59

hi glitter!! so pleased it's going so well for you.

OP posts:
OxyMoron · 12/05/2005 08:35

Mornin' all. Checking in cos thursday is now my day of reckoning.

Well done puff on the de-bloat.
www, sorry you're feeling hacked off. Me too at the moment. Just can't seem to do everything that's expected of me.
lol champs - I'm a cherry fiend too!
gf - glad the GI's going well. Is it hard to do? I mean in terms of thinking about what you can and can't have? I need something that's absolutely no brain power at all to follow, you see.

And speaking of small chocolately treats - has anyone tried those choc topped rice cakes that kallo (i think) do? They didn't appeal to me, but then I tried one at a party and they're really nice! Couldn't tell you the cal value, but they might work as an alternative treat. Plus all that puffed rice should help fill you up. Just a thought.

OK, moment of truth. This week I have lost .......

2 kg!!! woo hoo! (That's 4.4 lb for you imperialists)

Have been really quite good this last week. Got a bit cheaty with my sugary snacks yesterday, but I was giving blood and I think that's a good enough excuse!
Might have a tricky weekend coming up as it's dd's birthday tomorrow and my parents are down with us. Cue lots of eating out! But my target at the moment is to shed 1 kg per week, so if I can just maintain this week I'll still be OK. And tbh, since I've started to keep an eye on things I've noticed that I do have to go really mad to put on.

Have a great week, everyone.

And thanks for your support.

Ox.

PuffTheMagicDragon · 12/05/2005 18:26

Champs - I luuurve cherries too and English strawberries which are just appearing in the shops.

Glitter - glad GI is going well for you .

OM - well done on the weight loss!

champs · 13/05/2005 17:19

Fio2 · 13/05/2005 17:20

wickedwaterwitch, i blame you for getting me onto those sesame seed bars again. I ate 4 packets in a day on wednesday

glitterfairy · 13/05/2005 19:40

Champs it is going well and next week back to the gym I really like GI and dh likes it too so that is a big resullt as he has never really supported my slimming efforts before.

WideWebWitch · 13/05/2005 20:25

Hi champs and everyone else. I haven't been obsessing about it as much and I think I might have lost some but I haven't weighed yet so don't know. It seems some days that I haven't had time to eat that much and I've been fairly busy so maybe I have lost some. Don't worry, I'm not about to turn into one of those stick thin 'OMG, I forgot to eat!' women, no chance, but my trousers feel looser today. We'll see. I've been eating lots of avocados and strawberries and salmon so you never know. But I have been a bit 'oh sod it' about wine so maybe not. Given that I've been having a rubbish week, I felt that drinking was necessary in the circs! Fio, sorry about that but you're supposed to eat them ONE AT A TIME! But you know this! Oxymoron, sorry you're down too, has the week improved? Good luck with the temptation weekend.

Rainbow · 13/05/2005 20:30

Keep going www. I took a before picture and stuck it on my fridge that inspired me.. I lost 3 and a half stone

WideWebWitch · 13/05/2005 20:32

Hi rainbow, thanks! That really could be a good idea. I saw your recent update on your thread about your dh, I am sorry and hope you're ok. I didn't post because I don't really have any advice, only

moonshine · 13/05/2005 21:33

Well done Oxy and Puff on lost poundage (or kilos if you will).

Sesame snaps - yum. I had to add those to the 'to be avoided' list.

WWW - how can you avoid weighing yourself? I'm not supposed to weigh myself in between weekly meetings but I must hop on those darn scales at least 4 times a day (and yes I know it's a waste of time but it's an addiction!)

Hi Champs - geez I hope these tales of a heatwave are not accurate. Being hot and pregnant is one of the worst combinations in the world. Ever.

I've still had a good week (that sqeaking noise you hear is me polishing my halo) but my mum seriously tested my resolve and patience this week by making me feel guilty for not eating a cauldron of pasta washed down with a vat of chocolate. Hmm, wondered where I got my food 'issues' from??

glitterfairy · 13/05/2005 22:24

Oxy forgot to reply I have a recipe book which tells me what I have to eat at every moment of the day. Maybe once the two weeks of this have gone by I might find it difficult but you learn as you go along. It is a no brainer to be honest.

champs · 17/05/2005 00:00

www --- hi!! your wine is my choccie. trying very hard but am loosing. stupid thing is it makes me feel so sick when i eat it. must get some cherries tomorrow.

moonshine -- dont mean to sound like a grouch as we dont get much warm weather here, but i just know i'm gonna be a grump.

glitter -- hi hun. how was gym? did you go? hows gi going?

I have gorged on cheese toasties made one for dh the other day and didn't put machine away and so it called to me all day!!

OP posts:
glitterfairy · 17/05/2005 19:04

Going really well Champs although I am really hungry today and I dont know why. I went to the gym again this morning and have renewed my membership so am doing really well and although gave in to hunger and had some grapes and cheese am patting myself on the back.

How are you hun and little August?

PuffTheMagicDragon · 17/05/2005 20:28

lol moonshine about the cauldron of pasta and vat of chocolate !

Here's hoping the summer isn't too hot for you champs - know what you mean about heat and late pregnancy!

Good luck with the gym gf.

I've lost 2lbs this week, so I've got rid of the 6lbs of bread blubber I put on during my weekend away!

champs · 17/05/2005 21:45

glitter -- fantastic, nothing wrong with grape and cheese!! prob hungry cos of all the work you put in in gym.

puff -- horay! well done. you didn't hang about did you! I have to sort out an intolerance test for ds1 if i can get a stupid appt at the stupid docs!!
