not too far away Paula - I go to the Archers Road meet on a Weds - my sister is the leader. I'm finding it much easier now I've been doing it for 4 weeks - I'm more aware of what I can eat freely. I only have green days though as this is a veggie house! I have seen a moussaka recipe in a book tabs - with a yogurt and egg topping. I think I'll try it too as I love moussaka - although the one I usually make has about a million calories in it!

BethAndHerBrood · 02/06/2005 21:11

I lost a pound today! Quite pleased with that, as I thought i had been BAD!!!!!

It's another step towards target, isn't it??!!

hey tommy glad your finding it ok i also do green days as im not a very big meat eater. you may be able to help me actually, the quornballs, could you tell me if you know the syn value as when i put them into the syns online and the calculator i come up with different values lol.

thanks hun for the recipie look forward to trying it. sounds yummy.

Tommy · 02/06/2005 21:48

I would go for the one with the least syns
TBH we don't eat a lot of Quorn although I bought some today to try out the Thai burgers that are in the latest magazine - that's for Saturday eve probably. A woman at my meeting said she did them and they were really nice.

Tabs · 02/06/2005 21:52

Well done Beth.

Paula - if they are the fresh swedish style quornballs in tomato sauce then they are free.

fairydust · 02/06/2005 21:55

I didn't make it to weigh in on monday as we went out for the day and was knackered by the evening - and i know i'll have put at least 7lb on i have been so bad it's ubnbelivable.

Glad to hear everyone is doing so well.

Tabs how's the bean doing

BethAndHerBrood · 02/06/2005 21:56

Quick question, will low fat fromage frais be okay used as a dressing for potato salad??

I'm thinking yes, but not exactly a whizz in the kitchen, so i thought i'd check!!

OP posts:
Tabs · 02/06/2005 22:08

FD - you'd need to have eaten a horse to put 7lb on - oh no, wait - that would be free as long as it was a red day !

Beanie (affectionately known as Chip) seems to be hanging in there so far, but was just having a whinge on another thread that it'll still only be 5 weeks tomorrow, and such a long time til I can properly relax about it and believe that it will all be ok this time! Ah well, glad I've found MN to help occupy the time!

Beth - fromage frais will be fine as long as it's one of the virtually fat free ones. If you really like mayo though then try that new Helmanns extra light - 2 tbsp for 1.5 syns, so stacks lower than any of the others.

BethAndHerBrood · 02/06/2005 22:12

Tabs - i love the extra light mayo, but can't find it in a supermarket here for love nor money at the moment!!! I don't know what's happened to it, there is plenty of the other sorts, but not that one!!

Will use the fromage frais and see what i think!!

Donbean · 03/06/2005 18:38

hi, was wondering if i could pick your brains. 2 weeks ago i stayed the same. last week had put 2lbs on but it was my period and i had been very good. This week i couldnt face going so didnt and didnt ring the leader (whatever they are called) if i go next week, will i have to pay double and should i carry on going or not? What do you think, have you been in this situation in your weight loss challenge?

BethAndHerBrood · 03/06/2005 18:45

hotmummy - No, don't go to cyprus until september, seems a long way away at the moment!!!

Like the name change, by the way!!!

deegward · 03/06/2005 18:47

Donbean, yes you will have to pay for the week you didn't go as well as that week. You prob will have lost your 2lb and more beside. My weight goes up and down all month so know how bad it feel to have been doing well on plan and still to have put on.

Donbean · 03/06/2005 18:53

its just so hard, i am struggling.
I weighed myself in the morning and was 9stone 11lbs, weighed myself befor i went and was 10st 4lbs, at the place i was 10stone 1. I felt myself get more and more bloated as the day went on even though i hadnt eaten much as i had terrible period pains and felt lousy. Its just not fair for that to all happen in one bloody day.
I cant make up my mind whether or not to go back so consequently i havent been following the programme.

deegward · 03/06/2005 19:01

Fab weight btw, I know my last visit I had lost, but the time beofre i was v good weight in morning and by weighin had put on 4 lb. I think it is harder, and less forgiving when you have less to loose. Well that's my excuse. You could always use success express for the next few days before weigh in if going back.

Donbean · 03/06/2005 19:12

nononnono its not fab weight im a huge HEFFA!!!! pre baby i was 8.5 stone, thats normal for me so i feel very down and fat at the mo, ds is 23 months now.I just cant get going.

Donbean - don't give up! I bet if you go back to class you'll find that virtually everyone there has had a bad week or two and nearly given up at some point, but the important thing if you fall off the plan is to just get back on it again as soon as you can.

Last time I did SW I went through a phase where I was pretty much just maintaining for a few months, but if I was honest it was just because I wasn't really sticking to the plan. Because SW allows so much food to be eaten freely, it's not the kind of plan that is sympathetic to cheating, so going over your syns allowance can have a big impact. With so little to lose, are you keeping down to just 5 syns a day or less? I'd definitely recommend keeping a food diary with absolutely everything that you eat recorded, and go through it with your consultant, or with us on here if you prefer.

Donbean · 04/06/2005 11:46

Thanks every one, im next at class on Thursday, humdinger of a period is now over and im feeling less bloated and my appitite is back to normal.
Its just that for two weeks out of the month im feeling like that and it seems so daft to pay every week to be told you have put on......or you have stayed the same.....BLAHHHHHHH
HOWEVER, you are all absolutely right, i need to do this so i am going to go back, i wasnt until i read your messages so thanks to you all I AM going to be a bloody supermodel!!!!!!
Can i ask, some one mentioned "success express" what is this? Havent got my head round it all yet.
