Yorkiegirl told me this one. Par boil the lasagne sheets for a few minutes then cut up into tortilla chip shapes.

Transfer them onto a baking sheet and spray with fry light. Put into a hot oven - they dont take long and I burnt mine once so keep an eye on them. I put some mild chilli powder on them and they were delicious, especially for a free snack!

fairydust · 18/05/2005 15:31

thanks marj - will try them out at the weekend

fairydust · 18/05/2005 16:51

Anyone tried making the syn free icecream?

Tabs · 18/05/2005 17:05

I tried making one that someone told me about - mullerlights, sweetener, vanilla extract (can't remember what else was it it now!) - is that the one you're thinking of?

If so, be warned that it sets as hard as a brick!! I think it would work quite well as ice lollies, but I wasn't so impressed as ice cream. If you've got a differnet recipe then could you share it please?

assumpta · 18/05/2005 17:30

Quick question, just about to start dinner can you tell me if sweet potatoes are free on Red. What about quorn MINCEj on Red?

assumpta · 18/05/2005 17:30

Sorry, MINCE!

fairydust · 18/05/2005 17:34

Stir 2 x 200g pots of Müllerlight (or other Free) yogurts and 1 x 500g pot very low fat natural fromage frais together, sweeten to taste with artificial sweetener and pop in a freezer-proof tub.
Place in the freezer and lightly whip approximately every 30 minutes to break down any ice crystals that are forming.
Your ice cream should be ready in a couple of hours
For a deliciously different ice cream flavour, apple pie or strawberry cheesecake varieties of Müllerlight taste great and add only 1 Syn per 200g pot.
Don?t forget ? because all the ingredients are Free, it doesn?t matter how often you lick the spoon!

pretty similar - i wonder if the whipping helps it so stay soft

deegward · 18/05/2005 17:34

sweet potatoes no on a red day, sorry

fairydust · 18/05/2005 17:35

quorn is free on both
sweet pots are only free on a green the same as normal pots

assumpta · 18/05/2005 17:36

Thank you.

Tabs · 18/05/2005 17:45

Fairydust - that's the one I used, and I stirred it every 30 mins for 4 hours!!!!!

Do let me know how yours turns out if you're making it.

Tommy · 19/05/2005 15:46

Lost 1 lb this week which I'm a bit disappointed with.
Also - have any of you ever cooked with very low fat fromage frais? I tried a recipe yesterday (from the SW website) and the fromage frais separated and went really yucky - I had to open a jar of Dolmio instead. Did I heat it up too quickly or what? It is not inspiring me to try again!

Tabs · 19/05/2005 16:06

Tommy - I've used it in a lasagne, but think that's all I've done that involved cooking it. What were you making?

And remember that 1lb a week is nearly 4 stone a year, so that's good if you can keep it up .

Tommy · 19/05/2005 17:46

Thanks tabs - if I lost 4 stone I'd be on the eating disorders thread so I'll try and be contect with my loss! The recipe was a pasta sauce - mushrooms and onions fried in Fry Light with nutmeg and parsley and then the fromage frais added and heated through. It all went very disgucting though and looked curdled! The taste was quite good but it looked so foul I couldn't serve it up!

Tabs · 19/05/2005 18:06

It was sounding really nice until you got to the curdling bit .

I guess it's a bit like cooking with mullerlight (have you made curry sauce this way - yummy!) - I always take it off the heat and then add the yoghurt - the heat from the pan (and the pasta in your case) tends to be enough to heat it, but without getting it so hot that it separates.

I guess trial and error all adds to the fun! Might give your recipe a go myself sometime soon - love mushrooms and nutmeg.

fairydust · 19/05/2005 18:45

tabs - curry sauce made with mullerlight???

Donbean · 19/05/2005 18:48

Am off to get weighed in 10 mins, only need to have lost half a pound this week and i will have lost half a stone......1.5 stones to go LOL!
Wish me luck

Tabs · 19/05/2005 18:51

Yeah - get a pot of peach + maracuya mullerilight and put a tablespoon of curry powder in it. You can do this the night before you want it, the same morning, or just before you make it - the longer you leave it the more the flavour will develop, but I've tried all 3 and the difference is only very slight.

Then fry some quorn pieces (or chicken if using as healthy extra) in fry light, and I normally add mushrooms, frozen peas, and occasionally potatoes if I've got some cooked new ones leftover in the fridge - cook them for about 10 mins in all until the quorn is browning and it's all nice and hot. Then remove from the heat and stir in the curried yoghurt - the heat from the quorn will warm the yoghurt sufficiently.

Serve with rice, and hey presto, a syn free korma.

It's so quick and easy that it's one of my favourite green day dinners.

Tabs · 19/05/2005 18:57

Should say I normally use 2 pots of yoghurt to 1 pack of quorn pieces. Could prob use 3 yoghurts if you like lots of sauce.
