Sorry to butt in, but i've just had one of the hifi bars you can buy at class. It was lovely!! I was really surprised!!! I got it for being slimmer of the week, but shall buy some now!!! Tasted really sweet and chocolatey, but you can use it as a healthy extra.

I think online would only work if you felt you were getting sufficient support & motivation to stick to SW without being in a group. If, like me, you need to feel you're with others in the same boat (even if the Consultant is less than inspiring as mine is!) then I don't think it would work as I personally need that face to face contact. I don't get out that much in the evenings & so I have met a few local mums through the group, an added bonus.

Willow2 · 25/02/2005 14:37

Problem is my local class is no more so makes getting to class very difficult.

Demented · 25/02/2005 14:48

BethAndHerBrood, I have found SW to be a bit up and down, the first few weeks when I was sticking to it strictly I seemed to lose, put on, lose, put (always putting on less than I lost the previous week). The last couple of weeks however I have fallen of the wagon completely between stupidly not measuring my milk and realising I have been having twice the milk allowance and having too many takeaways I've managed to blow it but now ready to start anew.

BethAndHerBrood · 25/02/2005 16:01

Demented, in theory you could have twice as much milk, because you can have 2 a choices. You just wouldn't be able to have any cheese. I use 1 a choice in my coffee during the day, but sometimes have a milky drink in the evening, if i haven't had any laughing cow!!!!

How much more does online cost? Maybe it's better than nothing, then...and of course we're all here for support too.
One of my local cafes does great cakes but luckily also does the most gorgeous, unusual fresh fruit salads. I needed a bit of a treat this afternoon as I was feeling a bit miserable and I came out incredibly smug and pleased with myself I'd gone for the fruit salad option!

Demented · 25/02/2005 19:30

Wonder if anyone know how many Syns in Quaker Seasons Crispbread Snacks (cheese, onion and chives flavour), don't suppose they are a healthy extra the same way that Ryvita Minis are?

Bethandherbrood, therein lies the problem, I was having the cheese too!

Yorkie you are a star. After the bad week I've had I think I should put them back in the cupboard and proceed with potato wedges with my wine instead then.

That sounds good, will get some of those in.

Demented · 25/02/2005 20:19

Willow2, I try to keep hold of most of my Syns for naughties like wine, chocolate etc but will spend one of two on my meals if needed. I have found that it is perfectly possible to make a nice meal without expending any Syns, or very few. I often use one of my HE on a tablespoon of olive oil and generally have some meat on a green day from the HE and vice versa on a red day I would have a baked potato or new potatoes so find it quite easy to make a balance meal on SW. Bovril is Syn free and can be used to make a stock for soup (although I haven't tried this yet) and can been added to sauces etc.

Hi Willow2. That syn value was per sausage I believe.

SPARKLER1 · 25/02/2005 21:43

mmmmmmmmmm we had coronation chicken on jacket potato tonight. Really lovely and so simple to make. Having an original day so had a huge pile of coronation chicken - all free- and 8oz jacket as healthy B.

Demented · 25/02/2005 22:08

Sparkler1, how do you make your Syn free coronation chicken? I lurrrve coronation chicken.

SPARKLER1 · 25/02/2005 22:30

Found it in the new mix2match etc book.

Just chicken, very low fat natural yoghurt and curry powder. Mix up and scoff. yum yum

Willow2 · 25/02/2005 22:42

So, for those of you who have done SW in its previous guises, do you think the current plan is the best? Easy to follow? More choice? More effective? Just trying to work out whether or not to bother splurging out on online version

SPARKLER1 · 25/02/2005 22:50

I haven't actually tried the new plans yet - just pinched the coronation chicken recipie out of the book! . I'm quite happy plodding on with the old green and original plans for now.

Demented · 26/02/2005 10:45

Thanks Sparkler, I didn't notice they had recipes etc at the back of that book, just had a look and will be trying the coronation chicken, yummy, yummy.

Willow2, I can't help there either, I only joined SW in Jan (and don't go to classes anymore) haven't tried the old plan. Although I believe you are allowed more in the way of HE now and some of the previously free foods (Heinz Macaroni, corned beef etc) are no longer free. As I said I haven't tried the old plan but I wouldn't eat most of the foods that I have heard about being free previously and I love the HE choices.

MarmaladeSun · 26/02/2005 11:23

I have to admit that I haven't tried the new plans either. I'm sticking to the old red/green days and it's working a treat so 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it!'. Not that many differences really; you're allowed 2 healthy As and 2 healthy Bs and apart from that it's pretty much the same.

DecafArabica · 26/02/2005 18:15

I think the new plans look a bit complicated but that's cos I haven't really sat down and worked them out. Certainly the new people who'd joined our class in early Jan seemed to like them a lot and were getting good losses especially on the Mix'n'Match (is that what it's called--books are under the bed!)

Demented · 26/02/2005 19:19

I am currently polishing my halo. Definately back on SW today. Biggest challenge was a cinema trip with DH and both DSs (DS2's first time). DH thought I had flipped my lid completely when I told him that I had prepared my own cinema snacks, a bag of grapes and strawberries, two Mullerlight yoghurts with plastic spoon and a banana. Wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be, got DH to buy me a diet coke when we were in the sweets/popcorn shop so I didn't feel too left out. Only problem was that I got yoghurt all down my t-shirt, small price to pay for not blowing my Syns. Upside is I can sit here tonight with a glass of wine and a bag of Ryvita minis (HE) without feeling guilty.

SPARKLER1 · 28/02/2005 22:37

Stupid poxy diet. Have been really good all week and went for weigh in tonight. Have put on 1 1/2lbs. I am so fed up. Really felt like giving up after I got off the scales. I stayed to the meeting but still feel fed up now.
On the way home I called into the shop and bought a bottle of wine, a BIG bar of chocolate and a bag of poppadums.

Demented · 28/02/2005 22:50

LOL Sparkler, I think there is a slight problem with SW, particularly on a green day if you take the "as much pasta as you like" thing to the extreme that I do I always find it weighs kind of heavy and needs a while to get through the system IYKWIM.

Don't go too mad with the wine and chocs.
