Juicing - two days in and I am still not hungry!

I decided last week to start juicing after seeing my cousin who had lost a stone in 3 weeks!! I only want to lose half a stone after the excesses of the summer so I thought starting off with a diet comprising vegetable and fruit juice might be interesting (as well as challenging).

So I bought a Juicemaster book (7lb in 7 days) and started juicing yesterday. Today I worked out to one of my DVDs for an hour and have just returned from the park with my DTS. I'm still not hungry!!

I have been drinking fresh juices, which are absolutely delicious as well as exhilerating and I feel fabulous. I plan to do this until Saturday so it will be interesting to see if Jason Vale's promise that you will not feel hungry at all holds true.

Was wondering if anybody else had tried this regime?

cj-me too, i had a sleep this afternoon instead of housework also i had salad and quiche for tea, i need something to look forward to in the day, and theirs no point in making myself ill i don't think. Sorry about the car

gordonpym · 19/03/2009 06:21

Goodmorning cjmommy and needcoffee! New day, new start. TOday I'm gonna stick to it, I made my juice but DS2 drank the half of it! So less juice, less calories, I'll lose weight even faster!! But I'll continue to have coffee because i don't want to be hard, moody or bitchy with the children.
Have a nice day!!

NeedCoffee · 19/03/2009 10:40

lol gordon, wish i could have coffee but i take sugar so would prob defeat the whole object, i'm starting afresh too, had my disgusting lemon and water and having my first juice of the day(been busy), going to buy the rest of the ingredients too. Any ideas for soup tonight? am doing it for the whole family but would like to be able to have a bit!

Hi Guys.
Well car is going to cost us £200 and not be ready til after the weekend . Done ok today......the car stress has forced me to have a coffee AND a banana but feeling pleased that I've managed to carry on. Have lost weight too! Still feeling lethergic and have a horrendous headache (is paracetamol included on the juicing plan? )
Well done for starting afresh,Needcoffee. I have a big party to go to on Saturday so not going to deprive myself then so will be back on it for a few days next week to compensate before going onto the 14 day plan, I hope!! Well, good night ladies and see you tomorrow!

gordonpym · 20/03/2009 05:47

Sorry for your car, but really please by your success! Sipping my water lemon....

gordonpym · 21/03/2009 14:13

pleased (!)

I am really sorry to sabotate this thread, but juicing is not that easy, not so natural, so I'll leave you here, needcoffee and cjmommy, and I will still have a look from time to time to see how you are doing!!
Good luck!! Oh I still have about 62 apples in the kitchen! that's about 4 apple pies!!!

NeedCoffee · 21/03/2009 19:32

gordon i agree, i haven't felt any better, not lost any weight and i am starving, am going to try and have a juice a day as i don't eat enough fruit or veg, but not as strict as its expected, plus i haven't been to the loo for days so i'm all bunged up

Sorrento · 22/03/2009 13:23

Can I also add I went to an accupuntist as i'm TTC and she said my energy levels were low, she'd never felt circulation so bad and my pulse was weak.
Now I did loose weight and wasn't hungry but at what price, ladies we are meant to eat carbs and hot meals, soups I think are great but I'm not having a week of just juices ever again.

CrystalTits · 24/03/2009 11:26

Oh dear This thread started so positively!
Gawd I'm only on day 2 of JYS 'launch' week, and I am struggling with the veggie juices. They are really not to my taste at all, and I don't know how I'm going to maintain this for another 6 days (especially as you're meant to substitute veg juice with veg juice, fruit juice with fruit juice etc).
Can anyone recommend their favourite juices to keep me motivated? I'm thinking of adapting the plan to have a breakfast smoothie/fruit juice, soup for lunch, salad for dinner. And the kids can munch their way through the mountain of cucumbers...

CJMommy · 24/03/2009 12:10

Well, I'm still positive about it. I stopped after 5 days as I had a big family party to go too. But the results were pleasing (Lost 8 lbs). I did feely really tired for the forst 3 days and had an awful headache but on days 4 and 5, a friend commented if I was ok because I had so much energy!! My skin is much better and I feel more positive about myself, which to me is the most important thing.

I also feel like my eating habits have changed and I'm not wolfing down mega portions of rubbish. I've decided that juicing is going to become a healthy additive to my daily routine, whether I have one for breakfast or throughout the day. It's not possible to live on juices; I wouldn't want to but it has allowed me to reassess my eating habits (and they are just that, habits!)and hopefully eat much healthier from now on (I'm having a juice whilst I write this). I also have the support of my wonderful DH who has actually had some juices he too thinks it's a good additive to his daily diet.

CrystalTits · 24/03/2009 14:42

CJMommy, thanks for replying. I will keep going with the plan this week but I think I need to swap the soups/juices/smoothies around a little, and pick from ones I know I'll like. I feel quite disappointed with myself for not persevering with the veggie juices, but I need to stay motivated. Did you find it hard to keep going, too?

CJMommy · 24/03/2009 16:24

I swapped the juices around so that they fit into my working day i.e. made 3 lots of the same to have throughout the day so not carrying 3 separate flasks to work. It is hard to keep going but I just kept telling myself that it was only for 7 days. Now, at the end of the 7 days, i can see how I can continue with it, how it will fit into my life as opposed to govern it and I feel so much better about myself - I've even started to excercise!!

treacletart · 27/03/2009 20:57

An aside - does anyone have a juicing cold remedy? I'm sure Jason Vale's written one, but it's not in the 7lbs etc book and I can't find it online... I started another thread but it hasn't had any takers yet... [sniff]

VickyPon · 29/05/2009 11:00

I know this a month after you have all done your jucing but how are you getting on?

I am on Day 4 and loving it. I did the plan for the first time on 1st January 2008 and kept the weight off without too much trouble. However, this winter I have let the juicing daily slip so I am doing the plan again to kick start my summer healthy living, plus I came off anti-depressants for PND 4 weeks ago so want to get them out of my system. I love this plan. My tip for successful completion is give up caffiene and sugar for a week beforehand so that the headaches are out of the way before you start.

P.S. there is a cold rememdy in the 'Juice Master Keeping it Simple' book but unfortunately my copy is out on loan.

2bayumimum · 29/05/2009 12:02

I love the Jason Vale plan too, I had a stone to loose to get to my final target weight ( and a size 10 for the first time ever !!! ) and decided to boost my weight loss this week, by following the plan for 5 days ( 7 is too much for me these days ) and have lost 9lbs, on Day 4, so very, very pleased !! Ive followed the plan previously in the winter, but have to say doing it at this time of year, is much, much easier. What I love about it, as long as you are sensible when you go back to 'proper' eating, is that you don't stick the weight back on. Ive now got 5lbs to go and for the first time in I don't know how long, I wont be on a diet, just maintaining and that really does make all the effort Ive put in for the last few months, so worthwhile. Never thought Id make it this far, but Jason has definitely helped :-)

deegward · 29/05/2009 12:24

Was thinking of doing this, have ordered book, and looking at juicers. Need to lose at least a stone and thought this could kick start me?

VickyPon · 29/05/2009 12:53

2bayumimum - congratulations on sticking to the plan and getting into a size 10. That is great news. I find his writing annoying in some ways but it certainly hits the spot and makes you think.

deegward - yes it will definitely help give you a kick start. I have the Phillips juicer that Jason recommends and it is really easy to use and clean. Even my 2.9 and 4.5 year olds 'help' me (and drink the juices). As well as the 7lb in 7 days book I would recommend the 'Turbo Charge your Life' one as that is a good plan to use after the initial week. There are some additional recipes in there and some great soups that will help you ease back into eating solid food again.

As well as the caffiene / sugar tip, make sure you read the whole book and don't rush into it. If you do this, you should be able to manage the week without too much heart ache. Just remember why you are doing it and 7 days doesn't seem to be that long.

Good luck.

Just popped in to see how everyone is doing. I started juicing back in September and have kept most the weight off (about 18lb). When I do put weight back on it is because of over-indulgence on my part but I just replace two meals with juices for a week or so as well as eat salad or soups and that takes care of things.

That is what I love about juicing, it is not a diet but a lifestyle that is healthy and maintable. My cousin has lost 2.5 stone altogether and is now wearing size 8!!.

The other great thing about juicing is that it leaves you feeling really energised. I do bodycombat at least once a week, I work out with weights at least three times a week and run outdoors or in the gym at least two or three times a week!!! At the age of 44yo and as the mother of 5yo twin boys, I have more energy now than I did when I was in my 20s

My hairdresser cannot believe how healthy and strong my hair and nails are now. A friend visited me last week and she had not seen me for about 6 months. She kept asking me what I had done to my skin because it was glowing!!! I told her it was the avocado in the Turbo Charge Juice (my absolute favourite juice) that was responsible.

Keep up the good work everyone.

I bought a whole fruit juicer from Aldi about two months ago for £29.99. It is brilliant in that it extracts juice efficiently, compacts and collects the pulp well, is easy to clean and a fraction of the cost of the Phillip's one. It is noisy though but I can live with that.

In the Turbo Charge your life book, try the butternut squash soup. I am currently having that for lunch and it delicious.

I am now following the Turbo Charge plan and my weight-loss to date is 10lbs which makes me the lightest I have been since I got married in 2000.
