Juicing - two days in and I am still not hungry!

I decided last week to start juicing after seeing my cousin who had lost a stone in 3 weeks!! I only want to lose half a stone after the excesses of the summer so I thought starting off with a diet comprising vegetable and fruit juice might be interesting (as well as challenging).

So I bought a Juicemaster book (7lb in 7 days) and started juicing yesterday. Today I worked out to one of my DVDs for an hour and have just returned from the park with my DTS. I'm still not hungry!!

I have been drinking fresh juices, which are absolutely delicious as well as exhilerating and I feel fabulous. I plan to do this until Saturday so it will be interesting to see if Jason Vale's promise that you will not feel hungry at all holds true.

Was wondering if anybody else had tried this regime?

Needcoffee. I am not an expert (only on day two of the Turbocharge Your Life in 14 days) but the juices I am drinking in the morning are pretty thick as they have avocado in. There are also lunchtime soups which have lumps in. On this plan you can have meals with protein and veggies from day three.

I am afraid that Jason is pretty down on toast! In your shoes, I would take a look at what is recommended for breakfast in the book your have bought and then call your GP or NHS Direct for advice. It may be that by adding some live yoghurt to your breakfast you could get to the right constituency for your medication to work and get going on juicing.

I hope that you get sorted. The juices and soups are REALLY delicious - my DCs love them.

Thnaks Florence-i got the books through yesterday, still working my way through the (the fastfood one and the 7lb in 7 days one) I only need to have food with the meds because they make me feel really sick if i don't so i should think a thick juice/soup should work.

FlorenceAndtheWashingMachine · 12/03/2009 10:03

Great. I am on day four of the 14 day turbocharge and I feel fantastic. I woke up naturally this morning at 6am - normally I have to be dragged kicking and screaming out of bed at 7.30am and use four alarms

NeedCoffee · 13/03/2009 14:32

thats fab Florence, i think i'm going to start mine on Monday-have been trying to cut out dinners and have a juice to prepare for it this week.

CJMommy · 16/03/2009 11:15

Hello Ladies.
I've just been re-reading most of this thread. Brought a juicer and all the books a few months ago but they've sat in the cupboard ever since! So, I've got my shopping list and am about to embark upon this juice mission!! Wish me luck!

gordonpym · 16/03/2009 12:57

Please! Can I join?
Been reading this thread for a while and decided to start today. So CJmommy, you won't be alone! Good luck.
I am already cheating as I am drinking coffee right now, but hell, I need it!

NeedCoffee · 16/03/2009 13:29

i started today too, am sooo hungry already and my friend came round so i had to make her ande kids egg sandwhiches-i so wanted to lick the knife

CJMommy · 16/03/2009 13:38

Well, just had my first juice...not too bad actually but can I ask a few, probably really daft questions?

  1. Do you have to peel the avocado before blending?
  1. Does the pineapple need peeling before putting into the juicer?
  1. Once you.ve juiced and blended, do you then mix it all together in the blender?
  1. How long will juice last in the fridge? I work full time so wondering if it is practicle to do everything the night before?

I have one of the Jason Vale Phillips aluminium juicer, if that helps answer any of the questions. Sorry if they,ve been asked before but I've only gone back about ten pages on the thread!

Good Luck Gordonpym and Needcoffee!!

gordonpym · 16/03/2009 14:18
  1. Peel avocado yes
  2. I peel the pineapple as they put quite a lot of chemicals on them to make them last till our shops
  3. First juice then pour juice in the blender with avocado
  4. colour and texture may change a bit.

More than hunger, I have a strange feeling, and a light headache . I have been to the gym.

Needcoffee and Cjmommy we gonna make it!

CJMommy · 16/03/2009 16:04

I hope so Gordonpym!! Have that light-headed feeling but not headache yet.
I'm wondering whether the most difficult thing is going to be the absence of chewing, IYKWIM?

gordonpym · 16/03/2009 17:15

Oh yes ISWYM, each time I cut an apple, I would love to bite it!
Gonna take the kids to the park, it will keep my mind occupied and hopefully I will stop thinking about FOOD.
I have to admit, it sounded easier... 7 days..... ok, day one is almost over...

NeedCoffee · 16/03/2009 20:25

Gordon-i'm not sure which juice plan you are following but i was under the impression that you're allpwed to eat fruit too, i've been eating pineapple and tried a bit of dragon fruit earlier-also, i can't be bothered to have to clean my blender as well as my juicer so i've just been eating the avacado rather than blending it I've got an exam tomorrow so i'm going to have to eat something, i thought a spinach leaf, avacado and cucumber salad maybe....

gordonpym · 17/03/2009 09:29

Day 2. Going rather well so far. Yesterday evening I couldn't stand the idea of another juice, and I wanted sometihng with SALT in it, so I skipped the last two of the day and had a slim a soup instead (one sachet certainly has fewer calories than 2 juices, no??? . I know,I know, I am not following the plan, first coffee, than a soup, not really good for detox!
So come in and take me back on track!!
been a good girl till now, hot water with lemon, water, juice, water water water ...

CJMommy · 17/03/2009 11:17

One hot water and lemon this morning....ok but not a patch on a coffee Mmmmmmmm Just finished 2nd juice and about to make up batch for rest of day. Still no headache, and not full of beans either (although DS up half the night teething!).
Back at work tomorrow so hoping I don't succomb to the coccies and biscuits in the office!

CJMommy · 17/03/2009 11:18

Choccies....no coccies!!

NeedCoffee · 17/03/2009 17:49

Well aren't we a committed bunch

i had headache all last night and could hardly see this morning, so had a coffee, toast and painkillers and went back to bed for 30 mins, was ok after that-i hope i don't get headache again-can't cope with it!

Gordon-i'm sure the soup will be fine

I had the lettuce, avacado and cucumber salad this lunch as i didn't fancy carting warm juice around college, so whats everyones favourite juices so far? are you all sticking to the ingrediants? I've found i really don't like celery and half a lemon takes the nasty taste off most horrible tasting things!

gordonpym · 17/03/2009 18:08

so day two almost over... morning was really fine, couldn't have the lunch juice cause I had to rush to school for the boys, so I has it at 4, but after that I was soooo hungry that I made another one. I have to say I was feeling fine before I had the first juice, then HUNGER came all at once. I prefer the ones with pineapple.
Didn't do any sport today, maybe I should stop MNetting and do some sit-ups, push-ups .
Do you see/feel any lighter? my scale is broken (no I am no that fat, it's the stupid battery head which has melt), and so I will use the one at the gym if I manage to go tomorrow.
Play time with DS1!

NeedCoffee · 17/03/2009 18:32

i've put on 1oz going by my scales! must have been the salad! I can feela headache coming on, wonder what i can do to get rid of it? I'm so hungry!!

gordonpym · 17/03/2009 20:27

well, fasting isn't easy. You may call it juicing, but actually it is fasting. Otherwise how could you archieve these results? Extra calories burnt by all the carrying the apples, cleaning the juicer, the blender, that's the secret.
for sure, I'll never be able to look at an apple without hearing the brrrrrrrrrrrrr .

For the headache, paracetamol and early bed!

CJMommy · 17/03/2009 21:45

Ladies...the end of day two! Well, not too bad, no headache but had to eat a banana earlier as I was so hungry - it seemed to do the trick. I haven't had a juice at 8pm as I sort of missed the 5pm one and had it later at 7. Am just going to sort tomorrow's juices out and then have the hot apple and cinnamon thingy! Even DH reckons that one sounds good!

I like the ones with pineapple in too and am looking forward to the smoothie one with yoghurt (How sad )

NeedCoffee · 17/03/2009 21:47

oh i gave in and had a hot breadcake and a teacake Will start again tomorrow, you 2 are doing so well

gordonpym · 18/03/2009 10:38

Hello? Anybody out there, in the land of juicing?
I wrote a few lines early this morning, but I can't see them now, maybe I posted somewhere else (juicy brain ?).

So welcome to day 3! Do not worry, NeedCoffee, yesterday is over. i has 2 juices so far, and it seems to become easier, don't you think? I don't really see a difference in my body, but then, mirrors never tell the truth.

gordonpym · 18/03/2009 13:34

I went to the gym, I was excited to step on the scale and ... N O T H I N G. I haven't lost anything. I was so upset, that when I came home, I opened the fridge and had 2 tomatoes and some turkey ham. . I will continue the juice this evening, so please I need a little support right now. All those b**y apples....

NeedCoffee · 18/03/2009 18:16

me too Gordon, don't worry, it'll happen, tomatoes are allowed aren't they anyway? and the ham will have dissolved to nothing by the time it reached your stomach.

CJMommy · 18/03/2009 19:33

Hello there! Nearly end of day 3 and I've felt rotten all day! Light-headed and absolutely knackered all day! Not to mention the car breaking down and that's probably going to cost a fortune!
Anyway, i succumbed to a small bowl of fresh fruit at lunch time and am currently enjoying the smoothy that I should've had earlier. I've had to change the order of juices around to make it more convenient for work - do you think that will make a difference?

Gordonpym - stay off the scales - it will only serve to make you reach for all the 'bad'stuff. Stick at it and we will succeed (well I keep telling myself that but I could still murder a bag of fish and chips right now!)
