Juicing - two days in and I am still not hungry!

I decided last week to start juicing after seeing my cousin who had lost a stone in 3 weeks!! I only want to lose half a stone after the excesses of the summer so I thought starting off with a diet comprising vegetable and fruit juice might be interesting (as well as challenging).

So I bought a Juicemaster book (7lb in 7 days) and started juicing yesterday. Today I worked out to one of my DVDs for an hour and have just returned from the park with my DTS. I'm still not hungry!!

I have been drinking fresh juices, which are absolutely delicious as well as exhilerating and I feel fabulous. I plan to do this until Saturday so it will be interesting to see if Jason Vale's promise that you will not feel hungry at all holds true.

Was wondering if anybody else had tried this regime?

after the first week or so, i did find it difficult to juice everyday - I work and try and get three DCs out of teh house in the morning to school etc - If I can't juice in the morning, I'll just eat fruit until lunch time and drink detox/herbal tea, then make sure i have a glass of juice when i get in ( I realy like apple/carrot ginger and lemon - thats a favourite!) to stave off grazing and eating the Dcs left overs

I did eat a huge box of malteasers at the weekend - and dry roast peanuts, but I have been ill with tonsilitis, so am enjoying solid food again - back on track today!

it's smashing when you get a good result - with me it spurs me on and keeps me focussed. hope everyone else is feeling good and eating well.

I have been following this discussion for ages. I've bought the juicer, read the book but haven't had the courage to actually begin the diet until I read PersephoneSnapes last message about her weight loss. I too have a lot of weight to loose (around 4 stone) and thought that this might be too difficult to stick to (I've tried tons of other diets). I had a milestone birthday in December and am slowly turning into a potato. I am going to do this and I will succeed (I hope)!

BlessThisMess · 12/01/2009 14:29

Ooh yes, having just finished my first one I must agree about the apple/carrot/lemon/ginger etc one (Whole chute Juice I think). I just really enjoyed it!

slightlycrumpled · 12/01/2009 15:06

pinkblossom I've weighed myself today and have lost seven pounds!!! I had Saturday off as we had family come and stay and had cooked a big meal. So am tagging and extra day on today and maybe tomorrow. I still need to lose another two stone really and am quite nervous about how to go about it. How your doing it peresphone sounds great. Congratulations on your weight loss!

I have also measured myself and have lost 3 inches off my waist, 1and a half off my hips and 1 off each thigh. I have put on my trousers that I could not do up a week ago today and they fit perfectly.

I am at a good friends hen night next weekend and really, really want to have lost another half a stone.

Wishing everyone good luck.

pinkblossom · 12/01/2009 15:07

Well, after 1 week I have lost 10 inches!!!! I have not weighed myself yet as I wanted to wait until I have completed 2 weeks, but 10 inches!! I am really, really chuffed!!

slightlycrumpled · 12/01/2009 15:15

Well done pinkblossom! Are you going to continue just juicing for two weeks or will you be adding other things?

pinkblossom · 12/01/2009 17:00

Well Done to you crumpled - that is a fab weightloss in 1 week!!! Hope I manage the same! I'm going to try and continue on the juices for this week and then follow the recipes in his Turbo charge your life book.

I have roughly the same amount to lose as you crumpled. Need to get 2 stone off - would be delighted with 3! Wonder how long it will take?

pinkblossom · 12/01/2009 17:02

P.s. persephone Well done on your loss - that is brilliant - you must be really pleased!!

BlessThisMess · 13/01/2009 11:30

My 'kind-of' Day 1 yesterday was good. My plan this week was to have the daytime juices (8am/11am/2pm) and then a normal dinner, as we are going on holiday next week and I didn't want to do the full juice plan and then make myself feel awful by stuffing myself with holiday food straight afterwards!

Anyway, in the end I had all 5 juices throughout the day, plus a (smaller than normal) portion of the stir-fry I made for dinner, and then by 11pm I was so absolutely starving that I had another portion of dinner and then 2 rice cakes with a bit of butter! It's always the evenings that cause my problems! I don't know how any of you have managed to go through the days not having all 5 juices. I wasn't hungry most of the day but only because I did have them every 3 hours.

Today I have hit a bit of a snag. I went shopping yesterday and have ended up buying non-ripe pineapples and avocados, so i can't use them today. Have had porridge for breakfast and was just so hungry I had a slice of toast with a smidgen of butter. Oops!

I'm on day 2 of the 7lbs in 7 days plan (just juice ). Doing the diet with DH which is helpful, not feeling too hungry, although have a massive headache . I need to lose 1.5 - 2 stone, I'm finding the book very good, easy to read and he pre empts all of the excuses you might find to give up which is quite funny. Looking forward to having a yoghurt based juice tomorrow and real food for dinners next week! Keep posting weight losses and successes, it really helps! Good luck all

slightlycrumpled · 13/01/2009 18:39

Have finally finished reading the turbo boost your life book and am now menu planning for the next week. I have had to have some soup this afternoon. It was a homemade carrot and coriander one so that should be okay.

I actually really enjoy the juices, (apart from the celery!) so will probably have one for breakfast and lunch and a meal in the evening.

DH is going to get the mini trampoline out of the garage tonight and I'm going to get started with that later. I actually feel very motivated and I think this is because I just feel better. Hope it lasts!

Good luck bubblerock blessthismess Even though you havent't followed the plan to the letter, you will be eating far less than normal so surely must still lose weight. Good luck.

bubblerock · 13/01/2009 22:18

I can't wait to try some of the soup recipes . Just having my hot apple juice & cinnamon before bed whilst reading all the other diet threads to keep me motivated.

pinkblossom · 14/01/2009 16:48

How's everyone getting on today? I'm on my second week now and really into the routine of preparing juices etc. You do get into the habit really quickly.

bubblerock · 14/01/2009 20:44

Hi PB - I can't wait for week 2!!

Not doing too bad today, it doesn't help having DH whinging about food all the time though - I told him to have it if he really wants it, if not shut up!! He won't give up, he's too stubborn lol.

Actually managed to do some exercise today, Davina dvd which is bloody hard, I had to stop it twice, I am really unfit. I need to get my Days 4-7 shopping tomorrow.

We've decided that we will eat more as a family when this is finished and instead of just plating stuff up I'll use serving dishes then people can help themselves - hopefully the kids will try more different things - I'll put salad/veg out too and me and DH can have small portions and more if we really need it. Really looking forward to healthy grub next week!

bubblerock · 14/01/2009 20:45

Oh - and I'm torturing myself by watching masterchef...drool...

pinkblossom · 15/01/2009 10:10

Good idea about having serving dishes on the table - might try that too. Yes, I am a big fan of Masterchef - it's not easy watching all that gorgeous food!!

mum2s · 15/01/2009 16:34

Jason Vale is on Steve Wright this afternoon, (Radio 2) might be worth a listen.

dizzydo · 17/01/2009 13:03

Hello I decided to follow Jason Vale after looking at all the threads on here and it just seemed like the most sensible one to try. I think what makes sense to me is that it is about a change of diet for ever that is not about having tiny amounts of the things you love so you feel deprived or having foods forbidden completely so that you dont "come off" the programme it just gets amalgamated into your lifestyle. Anyway, just weighed myself after 7 days and I have lost 8lbs! Yay!

My question to you lovely people is has anyone used the rebounder, how did you get on with it, would you recommend trying it etc etc. Am a bit nervous of spending £80 or so on it and then it being a five minute wonder.

TIA

pinkblossom · 17/01/2009 13:09

Well Done dizzydo - that is fantastic!!!! Sorry can't answer your question on a rebounder as never used one.

bubblerock · 17/01/2009 13:11

What's the rebounder? Just a trampoline?? I wouldn't pay £80 for a mini trampoline, try This Set - I'm sure you'd get more use out of it.

BTW - congrats on the 8lb loss!! We managed 4 whole days of just juice but DH had to start taking voltorol for his back which needs food to take it with so we're on to eating healthily now with occassional juice, still doing well and will weigh ourselves on Monday.

dizzydo · 17/01/2009 16:17

Thanks bubble and pinkblossom.
Bubble I will have a look at that link I thought it sounded a lot actually but dont know how much they are.
Regarding the programme I havent been having all juice have been having a sensible evening meal on a small plate. Want to lose another stone but that weight loss was a great incentive.

pinkblossom · 17/01/2009 17:08

Weigh-in day for me on Monday too Bubble! I have been doing it for 2 weeks and am sooo nervous about weighing myself - let's hope it is all been worth it!!

bubblerock · 17/01/2009 18:05

You know I mentioned eating as a family earlier in the thread, it seems to be working really well two days in! Yesterday we had roast chicken breast, new potatoes, broccoli, peas, carrots & gravy - we all ate what we wanted (even the kids!) then tonight I did quorn spag bol, roasted peppers, courgette & cherry tomatoes - we usually have a massive plate each with tons of cheese but we ate until full and had parmesan instead. The kids are doing really well with the change and it's lovely chatting eating at the table - we've just been too lazy before.

Also did Davina this morning & will do 20 mins pilates when the kids go up to bed, feel pretty positive about it all so far - will let you know if I've lost Mon, good luck all!

slightlycrumpled · 17/01/2009 18:34

Well, I'v managed to be really good since finishing the seven day programme, and have been following the turbo charge book now. I feel slimmer every day, (although still slightly tubby!). It's great!

I just cannot get over how much more energy I have and I actually do feel impatient if I am just sitting down doing nothing now, whereas before I probably would just have not moved for ages.

dizzydo I have a trampoline from argos, it is fine. I watched mama mia yesterday and everytime there was a song I got on the trampoline and bounced and sang my heart out! I did shut the curtains though as I didn't want the neighbours seeing me looking that ridiculous gorgeous!

dizzydo · 17/01/2009 20:31

ha ha slightlycrumpled. My concern with the cheaps one I suppose is that if you go to near the edge they would tip over.
