Juicing - two days in and I am still not hungry!

I decided last week to start juicing after seeing my cousin who had lost a stone in 3 weeks!! I only want to lose half a stone after the excesses of the summer so I thought starting off with a diet comprising vegetable and fruit juice might be interesting (as well as challenging).

So I bought a Juicemaster book (7lb in 7 days) and started juicing yesterday. Today I worked out to one of my DVDs for an hour and have just returned from the park with my DTS. I'm still not hungry!!

I have been drinking fresh juices, which are absolutely delicious as well as exhilerating and I feel fabulous. I plan to do this until Saturday so it will be interesting to see if Jason Vale's promise that you will not feel hungry at all holds true.

Was wondering if anybody else had tried this regime?

scrappydappydoo · 08/02/2009 19:55

I'm doing good - felt really hungry around 1pm so had the passion 4 juice - which was great - yoghurt yum
I'm actually enjoying it - although can't wait to eat a 'proper' meal...

Hello ladies,

I'm back on starting today. I lost seven pounds back in October but the holidays were tough for me even though I've continued to juice every morning since then. I miscarried (very early) a couple of weeks ago and was stunned to find I'd put back on all the weight plus some with the pregnancy and then the week or so of depression eating.

So here we go again! The great thing about having done this once is that I know I can do it. The bad thing is that I have all sorts of shortcuts now. I always make two juices worth in the am, for instance. And I tend to mix up my own recipes instead of following the prescription exactly. I definitely use way more produce per juice - a piece of carrot becomes a whole one, things like that.

So we'll see if it works for me as well as before or if I'll need to restart with book in hand. Wish me luck!

ihatethecold · 09/02/2009 15:21

wishing you luck diva.. i agree some juices make loads, some are not enough, although im dreaming about the yoghurt ones they are yum. took 2 lots to work today and managed even though i had to watch and smell everyone eating their normal lunch.. im not missing sweet stuff, just the basics , you know bread, cheese etc.. only 2 more days.. yay

BlessThisMess · 11/02/2009 14:43

How are you doing, Ihatethecold? I am lurking as I am still reading Juice Yourself Slim but haven't got to the 'diet' bit yet. Have lapsed in my healthy eating habits after only a week, which isn't good, but had 2 juices this morning. I do feel better when I have them.

ihatethecold · 11/02/2009 15:14

im on the last day. feel loads better for doing it though. i have decided to eat proper dinner tonight. i miss food and want to feel full. the juicing part has been easy and only one of the juices tastes rank, i didnt add psyllium husks to mine ( maybe thats why i am always hungry after 2 hours of the last juice.). but i did add all the other supplements recommended. a good tip is to find a local aldi, the fruit and veg is so much cheaper and the quality is as good as the supermarkets.. good luck bless this mess.. stick at it.

scrappydappydoo · 12/02/2009 11:41

How did you do ihatethecold - I'm on my last day but have a really bad cold so feeling a bit low - I was bouncing of the ceiling on tuesday though... I've definitely lost weight and I'm feeling slimmer so can't wait to weigh myself tomorrow...

ihatethecold · 12/02/2009 12:33

bouncingblueberries · 18/02/2009 09:50

Right ladies - I'm back!

Quick recap: Started juicing back in November and lost 1 stone - woo hoo!

Only put 2 lbs on over Christmas but then got all smug and ate all the leftovers all by myself as well as any stray chocolate that happened to be lying around within a 5 mile radius. Put on another 5lbs. Whoops.

So I now have 7lbs to lose to get back to pre-Christmas weight.

Have been reading all my Jason Vale books and discovering lots of new recipes - yummy yummy.

Well done to all of you that have stuck with it since January - you've had some great results!

kkey21 · 20/02/2009 11:25

Hello there-i posted a few months back saying i was breastfeeding but wnated to start juicing-i then decdied not to as didnt wnat to compromise on my babies milk! I since Oct have lost 21 lb myself just through eating healthily and being a Mum of two!

So now my almost 6mth is being weaned onto formula and only has breast milk in morning (oh an dstill nights-he has yet to sleep through!) I will be joining you!!!!!!

Please, please can someone point me to which book i'll be needing to purchase today to get me started?

Also which juicer?

I have about 2 stone to loose then possibly a 1/2 to one more! I a strangely excited and have kept reading all your posts throughout-well done everybody! xxxxxx

kkey21 · 20/02/2009 11:27

Oh very sorry about all my spelling errors above-i got too rushed and happy! x

ihatethecold · 21/02/2009 15:22

7lbs in 7 days is a good starter, but read the whole book before you start, it will put you in the right frame of mind. any juicer will do, mine is 9 yrs old and has worked fine throughout.. i only lost 4 lbs but i feel so much better and it has spured me on to eat smaller amount and less choc etc.. good luck

Hi, feeling really low and run-down - suffering with virus. Can anybody tell me if they've got one of these juicers and if they're any good. www.johnlewis.com/230419559/Product.aspx

Don't want one that loads of faff to take apart.

Had that before with a Juicelady, I think it was called, and just got fed up with it.

spokette · 24/02/2009 15:08

Aldi are currently selling a juicer that juices whole fruit for £29.95. I am planning to get one. I have a toaster from Aldi which is the same brand as the juicer and the toaster was excellent value for money.

How is everyone doing?

I had the Super detox juice for breakfast and lunch.

Spokette, thanks very much for that link. Will have a look.

robin3 · 03/03/2009 10:01

I'm on day 1 post juice 1 and full of the joys of spring.

Some of my colleagues have done this but not more than a week. Can't wait to see the results but interested to know what folks have done post week 1 to sustain weight loss....just what Jason Vale says....juice for brekkie and lunch and then protein and veg for dinner? Would like to loose a stone in all but its the stone I've never ever been without.

HolyGuacamole · 04/03/2009 11:26

OK, have done some research into this and have decided to start the juicing as inspired by Bonita on the other thread and nappyaddict posting a link to this thread.

I am going to do the Daily Mail planner and the associated recipes are HERE

I worked out a shopping list for the week based on the above planner and recipes which is as follows and I'm not using the additives:

8 limes
10 lemons
57 apples
11 pineapples
10 cucumbers
9 avocados
Bag of carrots
2 broccoli
2 beetroot
2 courgette
2 bananas
600g yoghurt

(some of it is estimated, ie, where it says a handful of spinach I have guessed a bag over a week and I overestimated to the nearest whole piece of fruit/veg where needed)

Am going out to buy this juicer from Argos. It is £30 cheaper than the exact same one on the Juicemaster website.

Starting tomorrow - woohoo!!!

NeedCoffee · 04/03/2009 21:51

me too HG, so dp is a tight arse has very kindly offered to get me this juicer do people think it'll be hard wearing enough?

HolyGuacamole · 05/03/2009 12:11

I cold only find THIS link for the Tesco juicer. It seems ok for a starter. The reviews say it leaves a lot of pulp in the juice but I'd just strain it through a sieve afterwards to solve that.

Whoops, I also found this review:

Tesco Value Juicer
Highs : This is not a bad starter model, particularly if you?re loathe to splash out on a high-end option in case it will end up growing old, unloved and unused at the back of a cupboard once the first flush of wholesome enthusiasm has worn off. It is quite compact, very easy to assemble and rinses clean in no time at all.
Lows : The manufacturer?s grease under the spout when we took it out of the box was unfortunate, but nothing a good soaking couldn?t fix. What can?t be fixed, however, is the chute for fruit and vegetables, which was so narrow it could only accommodate the most daintily chopped ingredients.
Verdict : Functional but trying

NeedCoffee · 05/03/2009 18:25

Thanks HG, will have a look round over the weekend, there are these at Nettos for £39.99 atm so may try one of those.

robin3 · 06/03/2009 09:57

On Day 4 of the programme and over the course of the last two days I've gradually started to have discomfort in my hips and legs. So bad last night it woke me up. It's like a tugging feeling and every time I sit or lie down it is worse.

Anyone else had this? Any suggestions?

NeedCoffee · 08/03/2009 21:29

right well, i got the juicer from Netto, and i am wating for my Jason Vale books from Ebay-the only thing is, the medication that i am taking needs to be taken with food, if i eat some toast or something in a morning is that going to affecet i working? I'm sure all the answers are in the book, but i need to know NOW you see Also, have bought some wheatgrass liquidy stuff and the wheatgerm granules-does anyone know what tthey are actually for?
