Other thread too big.

Right, having lost not one single ounce over the last 4 weeks due to over-consumption of alcohol, I am starting again. I promised you all a new thread, so here it is.

Remeber:

Exercise EVERY DAY. walking, cycling, running, swimming - whatever - JUST MOVE YOUR HARRIS!

MEASUREMENTS can say more than weight. I have lost nothing, but mu clothes are actually looser due to toning up.

Are we up for another challenge for September?

I am giving up booze until the last weekend of September as I drank too much in July and August - so I am going to go for the 7lbs in a month again.

Well done to those who have managed to lose a bit last month!

Jahan · 01/09/2008 13:58

I have been slack with it. In fact I haven't done it in 3 years but but everytime I've forgotten and started up again my lumpy horrible thighs were very noticably smoother after 2 weeks.

I got my brush from The Body Shop years ago and I'm sure Boots have them.

LisaLessLumpy · 01/09/2008 15:25

Well done Jahan

I am 7lb behind you now

My aim is to get back into my 10's by the end of this month which is 5lb, I WILL DO IT, you have inspired me

SheikYerbouti · 01/09/2008 17:17

Oooh, I have a brucsh upstairs somewhere, I must dig it out. I look like an orange

Have been good agsain today. I was wildly tempted by cake this morning, but I Just Said No

I like Lisa's idea about the fridge note.

Add to that "WILL EATING THE CAKE IMPROVE MY LIFE?"

The answer is generally no.

OP posts:
Piffle · 01/09/2008 20:29

same sheik had good mate come over-she likes cakes bit today we both abstained claiming DIET

Finished the day on 1225 cals amazingly enough
Not hungry once today either!
Drinking 2 litres of water too really seems to rev the weightloss I reckon?
Peeing morning noon and night though!
Also report DP lost 1kg after 24hrs of calorie restriction. Only 1.5 stone to go

Sputnik · 01/09/2008 21:01

Have been super good today in an effort to redeem myself after the weekend.

Will have a go at the body brushing too, didn't realise the results could be so quick. I am going on holiday (well, for 4 days) soon and will likely be in my bikini alot, so worth going for.

LisaLessLumpy · 01/09/2008 21:04

I have had a good day too, here's hoping I can keep it up

I finished on 1155 calories. I tried a free trial on another weightloss site and for me to lose the amount I want by the 8th November I need to eat 1150 calories per day I think it is time to start some serious exercise so I can eat a bit more

interstella71 · 01/09/2008 22:24

Managed a run/walk tonight!
Wheyhey - did it in the dark, hopefully no one saw me as i was struggling. Eating has been ok, but not been calorie counting.

SheikYerbouti · 02/09/2008 07:43

Well done everyone - you all sound v positive

Is it just me that has a vast amount of weight to lose? I'm going to be on this thread all on my own at some point - I prob have at least 4 stone to drop, if not 5 or 6. (I am a shortarse. My ideal weight should be around 7.5 stone )

I sometimes get daunted by the sheer amount I have to lose. I wish I could wake up tomorrow a size 8

Especially as I caved in to temptation and had a Mars bar last night

OP posts:
BecauseImWorthIt · 02/09/2008 07:54

Oh Sheik! Don't sabotage your own efforts (although I know you know that!)

I don't know how much I have to lose because I daren't get on the scales.

I want to get to 9 stone (which I have been trying to do unsuccessfully for the last 5 years!) and I think this means it's about a stone and a half.

But my ideal weight is around 8 stone, maing it 2.5 stones. For the moment though - especially as I haven't even made to 9 stone, 8 is simply too daunting, and it's hard to start something if you don't think you have a cat's chance in hell of succeeding.

Best tip is to break it down into smaller chunks. So for me I try to think in terms of half stones. Give yourself smaller and readily achievable targets - it might be getting down a dress size, for example.

But it's also a long process (why does weight go on much quicker than it comes off?!) and so you also mustn't punish yourself for the bad days. Just 'get back on horse' and carry on.

Sorry, lecture over - sure you've heard it all before

LisaLessLumpy · 02/09/2008 08:19

Sheiki - At the start of Jan I was 13st 1lb, I am now 11st 4lb, my first goal to get to now is 10 and a half but at that weight for my height I am still 5lb overweight according to the charts. Ideally I would like to be 9 stone again but the last time I was that weight was when I was 21 before 2 kids. I think I would be more than happy at 10stone if I can achieve that I will be chuffed Definitely break it down to more achievable goals and treat yourself each time you reach them

SheikYerbouti · 02/09/2008 08:41

OK, I am going for 7lbs at a time then. I won;t think about my ultimate goal, becuse that's too daunting

I will break it down into half stones.

OP posts:
LisaLessLumpy · 02/09/2008 08:48

That's the way to do it.

Piffle · 02/09/2008 08:54

good plan sheik
You can plan around the odd mars bar
I had half a curlywurly yesterday (pmt worst week to start diet)
It is just about making small sacrifices most of the time
You are a size 12? That's not HUGE!!!!!
Size 8 might be what you think you'd be best as but it is very small!!!
Go for something less testing like fitting a size 10 trouser
Easy done with a 30inch waist

I used to be size 4 when I was 20
5ft6 7.5 stone naturally as was triathloning and one day eventing as well as working hard physical job at racehorse breeding farm.
So I see photos of myself 20yrs ago andfeel like elsie the elephant yet am slim ish with big boobs at just under 10stone
But like you I yearn for a bit of my old superslim self back
But have had to rein in wants and be a realist
My lifestyle is not compatible with size 6/8
maybe the small term targets are more doable so set a longer time frame do you are not constantly feeling like a failure.

And if you need an ass kick, then if you want it enough you'll do it.
I'm only focussed as have trip to oz and boob reduction looking
Without those targets I'd not be good either

No beating thyself up ok?

BecauseImWorthIt · 02/09/2008 08:56

Ah yes, the 11th commandment!

SheikYerbouti · 02/09/2008 09:14

OK, But I am HUUUUUGE at a size 12 (14 on a bad day)

People look at me disbelievingly when I tell them, but it's true. I have taken in the past to showing folk my labels because they think I am a 16+. It's because I am all squashed into a small space, plus I have ginormous norks

I am aiming for an 8 because that would be 2 dress sizes off and I think that might be about right. I am short and small framed

OP posts:
Cappuccino · 02/09/2008 10:14

I seem to be, er, lighter

can I come back?

Sputnik · 02/09/2008 10:28

Yay, Capp
Of course you can.

I have gained weight, perhapsI should go away.
It's all muscle though [flexes biceps]

Jahan · 02/09/2008 11:10

This is good! Everyone sounds really positive.

Sheiky - don't forget that you'll look and feel beter with EVERY lb you lose. You won't suddenly become stunning and gorgeous when you lose 2 stone. Every little bit of weight loss will be an improvement

I ended up with a migraine yesterday and then ate a cheese sandwich and crisps at 10.30pm when I felt better. Not good but I don't think I was too bad the rest of the day and I went for a 1/2hr brisk walk in the morning.

Hi Capp! Nice to see you again.

Lisa - I'm sure you'll catch up in no time

orangina · 02/09/2008 11:26

Good morning everyone.... I don't know how old you all are, but for those of us who are no longer in the first flush of youth (ahem), I beleive we have to choose between face and arse. If we want a 25 year olds arse (ie, size 6/8/whatever we were way back when with pert peachy buttocks), we have to resign ourselves to having a sknny, gaunt, OLD face. Alternatively, we could have a lovely glowing face (ha!), but live with the arse of a forty something year old. A fit forty something year old hopefully, but a forty something year old nonetheless....

(Have I just outed myself as the only fortysomething year old on this thread?!)

I'm going with the glowing face, as I have no plans to show off my arse in the near (or otherwise) future.... (will still continue to go up 4 flights of stairs at work instead of taking the lift in an effort to have FIT fortysomething year old arse though...)

Piffle · 02/09/2008 12:13

ah I just plugged all today food into fit day and it's only 900 calories!
Oh luxury can plop some butter on my spuds
Not done much exercise last 4 days as dd is bit mobility impaired (she is 5) and cannot manage a brisk mile or two walk and her cycling is a new thing
But back to walking tomorrow when she is at school.
Right lunch
Ham sandwich for dd
Spicy bean soup and ryetoast for me!

sagacious · 02/09/2008 12:20

Reduced fat houmous and salad sandwich on wholemeal.

Am feeling a bit less bloated (any weight I gain seems to go straight on my stomach and hips)

I did have 2 glasses of red wine last night (despite vowing to have a booze free week) but I STOPPED at two (this is V good for me normally I'd finish off the whole bottle..

Orangina, must admit you have a point re face/arse... Ulrika J being a good example.

I'm 36 and hoping I still have a rather faded peachy glow (if I smother myself in beauty flashbalm I can still kid myself i'm still just about hanging in there)

When I lose weight my bum goes completely flat but droops rather scarily!

scorpio1 · 02/09/2008 12:21

I'm 23, but have had 3 children....that's gonna take its toll !

Small amount of spinach & ricotta pasta for lunch

Sputnik · 02/09/2008 13:10

Well I made pancakes for DC's lunch and ended up having 1, with a little cheese and tomato. Wasn't what I'd planned but I'm not hungry anymore so we'll see. Does anyone have the foggiest clue how many calories in 1 small pancake?

I'm waiting for my DS to show some sign of wanting to nap, so I can get the exercise DVD on. Grr.

Sputnik · 02/09/2008 13:14

Hmm, arse or face?
I think actually you can have your cake and eat it in this respect because with the right exercise you can have a nice arse without it necessarily being tiny.

Even over 40 (which I am, you are not alone).

In fact, many cultures appreciate a larger bum, I happen to live in one! For me a flat bum would be more cause for concern.

Piffle · 02/09/2008 13:57

I have no hips or arse which is why the boobs are like a comedy outfit.
I have boy build with dolly partons tits. God was off the day I was created and I think benny hill was doing the job that day
Reckon they'll take between 1-2kgs off the norks reduction tIme

True what was said being thin ages your face. Mymil plump but soft full face versus my mum same age size 8 terrible diet plus smokes...
Looks a decade older
But still MIL says wish I had your mums figure
