I want to be a size 12 by Chrimbo

And then eventually an 8.

But I need motivating.

I have been farting about on a diet for the last 3 weeks, but I keep cheating. Keep me on the straight and narrow, and in return, I can offer swift kicks up the harris for all of you what need it

Congratulations to everyone who has lost something

I finally got to the pharmacy to weigh myself today, I am, erm, about what I thought. Anyway, I have found the fitday site realy useful. I thought I knew a lot about foods, but it really brings it home to you. I had 1/2 an avocado in a salad yesterday, 250 odd calories! Also made a quiche, the pastry had more calories than the filling.

Anyway, off to make a very frugal lunch, as we have been invited for homemade pizzas with some friends tonight.

Jahan · 16/08/2008 15:45

Well done everyone esp. Scorpio - wow! 4lbs is fantastic.

I have lost 3lbs so am 11st exactly. Will be in the 10's for sure next week

Cappy - DON;T GIVE UP. If we lived closer, I'd be deliveruing arse kick

Sorry I have been AWOL (I bet you haven't even noticed, you farkers) I have had a v busy work week, plus I have been socialising lots. However, I have magaed to lose 1lb, so 4lbs gone

PLUS

I went swimming this morning, and as I got out of the car, my jeans fell down

I think I have lost inches a-plenty from exercising more

Cappy, If I can do it, you can too - I am a greedy bastard

I'd noticed, sheik. Was tempted to come and give you poke in the ribs on another thread but thought you might have dropped out and didn't want to embarrass you.

Still planning to weigh in tomorrow. having been weeing like a good un all day so hoping that I will have something positive to report.

LisaLessLumpy · 16/08/2008 20:42

Well done Jahan

I weighed in this morning at 11st 4lb so that is 1lb higher than two weeks ago but I have been crap so it is deserved. So my aim over the holiday is to weigh in less than that in two weeks time

Congratulations everyone else on the weight loss, off to finish packing now so see you in two weeks time

Well, I have put a pound on. 'snot fair, I've been really sensible the last few days.

I really do have to absolutely FIGHT for every pound these days, must be my age. And I'm not overweight as such, so I guess I am battling with my body's natural comfort zone.

Not giving up though! (yet)

Jahan · 17/08/2008 10:40

Don't fret Slouchy, many of us are like that.
I have to fight too and I am bfing!
I've lost 3lbs in a week and thats because I have been really strict and stuck to under 1400cals and tried to get some exercise in. I've been eating lots of fruit and no junk.

Sometimes it takes a week or so for your body to adjust so just keep going.

Sputnik · 17/08/2008 12:30

Me too. Don't be discouraged Slouchy, your body has natural fluctuations too. I bet if you really watch everything you eat and do you will see a difference over a month.

Also if you're not actually overweight your body will burn fewer calories anyway. I was just looking at the readout from the scales at the pharmacy yesterday. If I ever reach my "ideal" weight (what I was before DCs) I would only need 1500 calories to maintain that weight, less than what I'm eating now while dieting. Have you calculated how much you're burning?

I have been super good this morning. It has finally cooled down a little here so managed 1 hour and a 1/4 exercise, including 20 mins of cardio. I climbed 40 flights of stairs (well the steps outside my house 40 times).

Sputnik · 17/08/2008 21:28

Also wanted to congratulate Sheiky on her jeans falling down. Time for some new trousers maybe

Jahan · 18/08/2008 09:25

Yay for trousers falling down!

I indulged a bit over the weekend so am on 1000 cals for today and tomorrow then back to 1400 after that.
I am going for a 2lb loss this week.

Ive had porridge and coffee for breakfast, quorn grill and beans for lunch and chickpea stew for dinner. Fruit for snacks.

There! I've written it down so have to do it now

Had a roast yesterday, how bad are like 4 roast pots? Veg is 'free', and had a slice of pork.

Cereal with skimmed milk; salad and an apple; quorn spag bol today.

scorpio1 · 18/08/2008 14:06

Recipe for chickpea stew? sounds my type of thing....

Sputnik · 18/08/2008 14:22

Must be chick pea day today as I just had some in salad for lunch.

I am still in love with the fitday site but it does have a few quirks. Today I couldn't find either plain raw carrot or semi-skimmed milk. And wtf are "cow's fluids"?

But it's also teaching me things, for example it's very easy to eat enough protein to meet RDA even dieting (and I don't eat meat either), on the other hand I'm struggling to meet my iron requirements, but now I'm aware of that I can try and go for more iron-rich foods, or take an occasional supplement.

scorpio1 · 18/08/2008 14:23

it said 'human milk' to me the other day, lol

Sputnik · 18/08/2008 14:25

Don't know about stew but I really love chick peas in curry. I make it with mostly aubergines in summer and mostly cauliflower in winter. I usually put coconut milk though, which you have to go very carefully with, calorie-wise.

Sputnik · 18/08/2008 14:27

Hmm, does it count, do you think, if you drink your own breast milk?

scorpio1 · 18/08/2008 14:28

i suppose so - because when its 'in' my breasts its not in my tummy being digested, iyswim? though it must weigh something

Yeah that must be it with the cow's fluids. I bet there are millions of overweight Masai logging on to that site.

Get out in the sunshine for your vitamin D.

Jahan · 18/08/2008 15:08

Here's the chickpea stew recipe;
1 small aubergine cubed (though I never use it)
1/2 onion
1 garlic clove
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp paprika
pinch cayenne pepper
1 can chopped tomatoes
1 can chickpeas
seasoning
fresh coriander or parsley

Cook aubergine in grill or griddle pan (spray with fry light it says). Set aside
Fry onion and garlic, add spices, add toms and cook for 10 mins.
Add chickpeas and aubergine and seasoning.
Goes well with couscous. Add lemon zest and chopped mint to cous cous.

I add any random veg to it too. Today its carrots and mushrooms.

Cow's fluids??? Sounds gross.
Americans call semi skimmed milk 2% milk, I think.
