well done ckc, get yourself a glass of wine. You deserve it

Lurkingnearthebonfire · 04/11/2008 15:32

Hello - did you miss me? like a hole in the head!?

I am ditching WW. Points left me feeling hungry and core left me feeling like I couldn't have the treats I wanted (and the idea of snacking on carrot sticks only between meals was enough to put me off)

The thing is I loved eating as close to food's natural source as possible - i.e. lots of vegetable stews, lentils etc, less processed foods... so I'm going to try just eating 3 meals a day like that, sort of SW style but taking more notice of when I'm full, not worrying if I have more than 2 HEbs, easy on the cheese and trying to eat more like a normal person IYKWIM. Theory being that if I stop when I'm full I will hopefully lose weight, as it will still be a low energy density diet, i.e. bulky without calories. hopefully.

Tommy · 04/11/2008 19:45

wow - well done ckc!

Well, I had official weigh on today and I lost 3/4lb

At least it's in the right direction although it does sound a bit pathetic...although I had a similar experience last week to wickedwitch and tought I'd put on 6lbs. I obviously hadn't unless I lost it all this week which was unlikely.

It's such a bore all this isn't it? I'm really bored of SW now

Riallybigbangandflash · 04/11/2008 20:56

hi lurking. sorry the WW didn't work for you. I am just lurking. budget too tight this week to do anything but eat ordinary food, hopefully by next food shop I will work out what I'm trying next

dazmum · 05/11/2008 16:21

Fantastic ckc, well done!Think I only got slimmer of the week once ever!! I am going for my weigh in tonight so fingers crossed for any loss at all.
Tommy, it doesn't sound pathetic, its a loss. It does get really boring I agree, when its slow, I used to sit in group and listen to all the lucky people who's lost loads in one go and be really jealous!(while clapping and smiling of course)
I thought I'd never get there, especially as last Christmas I put on nearly half a stone, and as it just takes me ages to lose half a pound it was a disaster, especially as I thought I'd been quite good really! Are you trying different things? One lady suggested changing everything you normally eat to an alternative (not buns though) and it did kick start me into losing again. Good luck everybody!x

SparkyPup · 06/11/2008 13:49

Hi everyone. Well floury, I made the cottage pie thingy and very nice it was too. By the way, your variation on SparkyPup kept me amused for ages!! I'm thinking of officially changing it to Sparkyplugs now! ckc - well done, that's great. Lurking, if you have any nice veg stew recipes, I'd love to have a couple. Like you, I'm quite keen on "natural" food, pulses, etc but I seem to end up with quite bland meals a lot of the time, despite adding herbs and spices. Jamie Oliver has nothing to fear from me!

ckc · 06/11/2008 19:40

cheers sparky...x

educatingRia · 06/11/2008 21:21

just wondering if the latest mag is any good? or are the recipes old-ish ones?

educatingRia · 06/11/2008 21:46

ckc - just seen your other thread and wanted to send you a

ckc · 06/11/2008 22:14

cheers educatingria hugs greatly received today needed plenty x

Tommy · 06/11/2008 22:26

new magazine is quite good IMO - I've seen a couple of recipes I would like to try.

Lovely stew:
chop up onion, couple of carrots, parsnip, swede, potato and put in saucepan with tin of chopped tomatoes, about 1 litre of veg stock, a bay leaf, some dried mixed herbs, teaspoon of Marmite and some green lentils.

Let it boil up and then simmer for half an hour or so (check cooking times on your lentils!)

Very yummy and completely free on a green day

educatingRia · 06/11/2008 22:30

thanks tommy. may treat myself as a kick up the backside this week.

SparkyPup · 06/11/2008 22:38

Thanks Tommy - that's tomorrow night's dinner sorted! I love vegetables, pulses, etc. They are so filling (I'm greedy, really) and free on green. Just the small matter of the "windy" side-effects . Just cooked some savoury rice and mixed in a little Hellman's extra lite mayo through it, so that will do lunch tomorrow. ckc, just had a look at your other thread ... so sorry about your gran. This must be a really difficult time for you. Would you not consider telling her a tiny white lie? I can understand why you might feel guilty, but hopefully you will be soon and you'll wish she had known. God bless.

educatingRia · 06/11/2008 22:48

I was thinking of making lots of rice & veg dishes for me next week that DH & DCs could have meat with. Might even ask DH for a mag subscription for xmas.
shopping tomorrow, will be working hard on my shoppinglist. Decisionmade - will give SW another go.

How you doing lurking?

ckc · 07/11/2008 13:24

I've been to see her today and she has picked up a little doesn't look to bad if she's that desperate she will have to hold on a bit longer anyway if I keep up my loss it might happens sooner cheers for your concern ladies much appreciated x

educatingRia · 07/11/2008 13:54

ckc, can't think of anything helpful to post but thinking of you

educatingRia · 07/11/2008 13:55

I am too idle to go onthe SW website just now, anyone know the syns in harissa? If not no worries I'll be looking it up tonight.

ckc · 07/11/2008 16:19

Thank u ER what's harrisa? I will have a look in my book for u x

dazmum · 07/11/2008 16:26

I didn't know what it is either, but apparently its a spicy sauce with chillies and other hot stuff. My book says 100g of harissa paste is FREE on green and red.

ckc · 07/11/2008 16:40

polester · 08/11/2008 15:06

does anyone know this weeks password please

Gracie14 · 09/11/2008 16:22

Hi all,

I'm new, (well sort of) I started slimming world last Sept and managed to lose a stone by Dec to get me to a size 12 and then found out I was pregnant on boxing day , gained 4 stone .

I have lost 2 stone naturally and now need to lose the next 2, especially now DS 8 weeks and I have no excuses, started classes last week lost 5lbs so this week I need another high number. I weigh in on a Thursday.

Been okay(ish) over the weekend, although need to increase my exercise, at the moment walking is pretty much all I can do as exclusively breastfeeding on demand and so therefore cannot go back to the gym at the mo. So lots of luck ladies

polestar - the password this week is gravy

SparkyPup · 09/11/2008 22:13

Welcome Gracie14 - and well done on losing 2st by yourself. You'll do the other two no problem with SW (I sound like I'm on commission!). I've had a DREADFUL weekend foodwise. A friend was home from Plymouth - we only see each other about once a year now, so tend to go for it, big time. We went out to dinner on Friday and despite saying we were only having two courses, we had three ... plus wine .... plus coffee. Could barely move afterwards. Fantastic tho' . Last night watched "Strictly" with a tube of Pringles (and its true what they say, once you pop you just CAN'T stop), doritos, dips and other nibbles. I have to point out that it wasn't just the two of us, there was a few but still ... She went back today but I still had a "snack" dinner with dd then a plate of pasta with seafood and sauce at about nine-ish. I have probably doubled my body weight in 48 hours and serves me right . Please help me get back on the wagon. Any support/advice/contempt/dog's abuse welcome (OK, perhaps not the last two ).
