I love th vegetable curry from Sainsburys and Tescos. Its 6syns a tin but that can do me for 2 meals.
That and couscous is just gorgeous.

I desperately need some red day recipes. I will have a look on the website but I like to hear what meals over people recommend.
I'm sure I asked the same question when I was here before but there are more of us now (I think) so there might be more recipes!

I take lunch to work everysingle day without fail. So any lunchbox snacks are welcomed!

Tomorrow is weigh in day.

Butternut squash soup

Chop 1 onion and two garlic cloves. Brown off in pan with frylight. Add a whole peeled, chopped and deseeded butternut squash and a knorr chicken stock cube (1.5 syns). Simmer until the squash is tender and then blitz.
It makes a thick almost creamy soup. You can have it with a heB of bread or add some gammon into it as a fulll meal.

With the quiche I dont't put it in a flan tin I use a 3in deep pyrex dish. It easier to get out if you do a couple of frylight sprays and then actually spread it around with kitchen roll. Like you would if greasing a cake tin.

Favourite red days meals -

shepherds pie topped with mashed swede instead of potato.
sw quiche served with the bowmans sausages that are only 1 syn each
Chicken breast stuffed with boursin light (3syns per 28g) and then wrapped in bacon. Served with roasted carrots and butternut squash
Gammon steak, fried egg and heB of sw chips.
Steak w frylight fried onions and sw chips
Homemade burgers with heb wholemeal roll.

As you can see i love cooking and eat vast amounts of eggs!

Hi debz

A women in my group got her 7 1/2 stone award this week on her one year anniversary since joining group. We also have a 10st loss target memeber who has kept it off for 2 years now.

seweasytoslim · 13/09/2008 10:45

Thankyou Nikkid, I am of to Morrisons now to look for a butternut squash. I love soup and it is easy to take to work, as we have a microwave. Thanks, too, for the tip about the quiche. I will give it one more try!
Debz, my freind lost 4 stone on SW and has kept it off, go for it

seweasytoslim · 13/09/2008 10:49

I just found a tin of Cannelini beans in the larder. I bought them for some SW recipe, but cant remember what. Any ideas anyone?

Tommy · 13/09/2008 12:26

seweasy - I would roast some peppers, mushrooms, courgettes, tomatoes for about 20 mins with frylight, salt and pepper and mixed herbs, then add a tin of chopped tomatoes or pasatta and the beans, pop back in the over for 10 mins to heat through and serve with couscous - yum.

We have some sort of combination of this one quite a lot!!

kid · 13/09/2008 16:41

Weighed in today, just a lb loss this week but thats 5lb altogether so I shouldn't complain.
Will try and do some red days next week and see what happens. The one thing I am glad of is, I have lost 5lb without feeling hungry. I do feel I have gone without as I usually have a takeaway at the weekend.

FairLadyRantALot · 13/09/2008 16:44

well done Kid

themildmanneredstalker · 13/09/2008 16:50

hello! i have a cannellini bean question.
i am on a red day and looked to see if i could use cannellini beans as a healthy extra.
yes i can.

however i am confused.

there are 2 entries for these beans. one is for 57g and one is for 100g.

why?

is there something i'm missing?

surely one choice is one choice?

themildmanneredstalker · 13/09/2008 16:56

bump!!!

themildmanneredstalker · 13/09/2008 17:17

.,;,.,.

kid · 13/09/2008 18:42

I have no idea!
Maybe you can have either size a HEb. The fact that they come in two sizes means they list both.
I don't know though, I am just guessing!

FairLadyRantALot · 13/09/2008 18:47

mildmannered...it might be a mistake.....will ask the consultant next time....

bohemianbint · 13/09/2008 18:49

Hello!

I've had 9 months out eating minstrels and growing a lovely new baby boy - but he's 3 weeks old now and I think it's time for me to get back on the wagon. Although, probably not til Monday.

I've got 2 stones to go before I'm back to pre-baby weight, but 3 until I'm back to pre baby #1 weight. And wasn't entirely happy there either, but start small and all that. Am hoping the breastfeeding will help.

You just have to get me to stop eating minstrels!

themildmanneredstalker · 13/09/2008 19:47

it's not a mistake-they have doone the same for other pulses.
will ask consultant on wednesday and just use the 100g tonight.

FairLadyRantALot · 13/09/2008 20:11

odd though....if they ad specified a difference like between canned and dried....

heavy · 13/09/2008 23:28

Hi stalker. You can have the large portion as a normal healthy extra and boost your fibre intake or you can choose the smaller portion and it will count as a speed food because you're eating less. Depends how hungry you are I guess!

Louise18 · 14/09/2008 10:19

Ok - hubby asked last night whether I've put on a bit of weight recently... After a general bout of crying, desperation, anger and ignoring DH as much as possible without starting a fight, have decided to go back on Slimming World plan. Will need help!!!

PS - he's right, I've put on half a stone recently... but that doesn't mean I forgive him!

seweasytoslim · 14/09/2008 11:24

Thanks Tommy, that sounds delicious. I keep seeing those beans staring out at me every time I open the cupboard!

FairLadyRantALot · 14/09/2008 11:35

Louise at your dh being a bit of a pig there....1/2 stone...you will soon have lost that, you know....

polester · 14/09/2008 14:46

M son is 2 yrs old and I am still half stone from my pre pregnancy weight - so depressing, have been jumping on & of the SW wagon for the past year to shift this weight, now I have found this you guys hope to be motivated enough for this last half stone (grin)

sticktoit · 14/09/2008 18:34

Oh my god !!!!! I seem to be on some sort of 3 day binge!!! Can't stop bloody eating!. WI on Friday and stayed same for second week in a row - think I'm slightly peed off with that!

Anyways I've totally pigged out, Friday night through to today - someone sort me out now before I ruin it !

Actually feel sick from all the crap

kid · 14/09/2008 19:37

I had a proper sunday roast today, really enjoyed it even though it wasn't part of my SW meal plan. But I figured one naughty meal this week won't completely ruin it.
I went easy on the potatoes, just had 2 and then loads of vegetables.
I did have some gravy and half a yorkshire pudding (half of a giant one that is!)

I didn't have lunch and had 2 weetabix for breakfast, so surely it will be okay?
I will try and have some red days this week. Just need to work out what exactly I can have!

sticktoit, no point in dwelling on what you have already done, try and wipe the slate clean and start again from tomorrow. You don't want to get into a downward spiral of 'I've ruined it now so I might as well carry on'
Just start again and you will soon be back into the swing of it.

Louise18, ignore your DH. If you want to go back to SW then I am sure you will get the support you need here. In the meantime, give your DH extra food so you can return the favour and tell him how much weight he has put on. Or, stop buying to food he enjoys and let him eat the same meals as you! Bet he won't mention your weight again
Not that there is anything wrong with SW food. I know my DH wouldn't want to do them as he would never go without meat and I don't really do red days.
