LisaLessLumpy · 11/07/2008 13:09

twinklelittlestar · 11/07/2008 23:12

Hi everyone .

it's really helpful to know what you are eating during the day. it looks like you're all doing great. suey2: i'm the same with exercise the more i do the more hungry I get so i have to try and balance out the benefits!

i am trying to cut down on my portion sizes too. sometimes i get my dh to do them for me. sometimes i just get so hungry and don't realise i'm full until it's too late.

anyway... no snacking again last night so that was a success.

breakfast: 50g sultana bran and 1/4 pint ss milk.
clementine

mid morning: muller light and fruit; one organic childs biscuit (33cals)

lunch:minestrone soup, one slice wholemeal bread and lf marg;muller and fruit.

afternoon:melon and some strawberries.

evening:roast chicken;(inc 2 small roast pots) and veg; (medium size portion..acc to my dh)
pineapple (200g) 88 kcals. (i weighed it this time in an attempt to keep control.

no snacking tonight!

starting to get a little worried already that even though i haven't been snacking etc i wont lose any weight for mon weigh in!

oh yes i took my measure ments as well:
waist 33 inc
stomach lol 37inc (pot belly bit)
chest 37 inc
hips 38
thighs 21 1/2
arms 11

hi iamamummy how are you doing?
yes the paella recipe is one from a low fat book i have:it's lovely and easy to make:

few sprays of low cal oil
1 onion finely chopped
1 red pepper, seeded and sliced
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
230g can chopped tomatoes
1 tsp tumeric
300g long grain rice (i use wholewheat)
1.3 ltrs veg stock
450g bag frozen mixed seafood
(prawns, mussels and squid rings)
175g green beans
handful chopped parsley
1 lemon cut into wedges

  1. cook onion and pepper using low fat spray
for approx 5 mins until softened but not brown. stir in garlic, toms and tumeric and cook 1 min. 2.tip in rice and cook 1 min stirring to coat grains. pour in stock, stir well and bring to boil, then simmer uncovered for 8 mins, stirring occasionally, until rice almost cooked and most stock absorbed. 3.add seafood and beans cook 3-4 mins.stir in parsley and season. servewith lemon wedges.

says cals per portion 463; prep time 30mins; serves 4.

i have smaller portion and fill it out with a salad. it seems to make loads. yummy x

twinklelittlestar · 12/07/2008 21:17

Hi ya anybody there???
Hope you're all having good weekends .

Another evening without snacking! However, i don't appear to have lost any weight yet so I think i might need to cut down on what i'm eating in the day. will see what i weigh on monday. i suppose it's best to do it gradually anyway but would like to lose at least 1lb. i thought weight would fall off when i stopped evening snacking.still i suppose i'm not really doing any aerobics.

breakfast:
3 weetabix & 1/4 pint ss milk
3 pear slices

mid morning snack:
muller yoghurt and fruit

lunch: minestrone soup
1 slice wholemeal bread and low fat marg
muller yog and fruit

snack:3 pear slices, strawberries & clementine.

eve: roast chicken, 3 small pots & veg

I am here! But not for long.

How come am eating healthily and not losing any weight? I think it must be that am doing no exercise. But am sooooo tired and have no time...

Any tips on finding time and energy or exercise that is good post-pg?

LisaLessLumpy · 13/07/2008 08:00

I was still eating healthily but stayed the same for 6 weeks, then finally last week I dropped 3lb. I think it must be your body getting used to the different eating pattern, so it holds onto all the calories etc for a while to see whether the new regime is going to last or not. If it then realises it is, it will let go of the fat it doesn't need. That is my theory anyway

Yesterday - not a great day, but could have been alot worse. Had friends round...

b 1 toast and flora light
l 2 ryvita, jam and low fat cottage cheese
s finished off ds2's lunch 1/2 cheese roll and 1/2 pkt walkers

Friends arrive - I bought all low cal/low fat versions
nibbles BGTY Pretzels, olives and sweet chillies stuffed with extra light philly.
1 and a half glasses of champers, 1 glass of Rose (all night - proud of myself )
Homemade chilli, wild rice (small portion), 2 slices of garlic bread (baguette)
sm piece of New York cheesecake.

I reckon I had 1680 cals in total.

iamamummy · 13/07/2008 09:21

hi ladies

thanks for the recipe twinkle!

i have not been snacking this weekend and my food intake has been considerably lower than normal - but not exactly healthy!

went to a party last night - i refused all party food and just drank a few glasses of orange juice!

hope you have all had good weekends

see you at "Weigh in" tom

Hi {smile)

Thanks for that Lisalesslumpy (made me feel a little better) maybe if i continue with the healthy eating it will come off. I think i have an (unhealthy) obsession with scales anyway and get on them everyday! Just to check how things are going.

I figure i must lose something eventually as i was eating loads in the evenings and have stopped that. I know i could cut down what i am eating further in the daytime (i.e. cut out extra bread with the soup) and smaller portions but i am a little loathe to do that (yet) if i can avoid it & of course day time snacks!i am bfeeding though. we'll see. then of course there's always EXERCISE

today:
b:50g sultana bran & 1/4 pint ss milk

snack mid morn:
organic cereal bar (150kcal)

lunch: bowl soup & 1 slice wholemeal bread
petit filous & strawberries

see you later my dd is waking xx

suey2 · 13/07/2008 16:05

hello all,
well i was at the cricket yesterday and was very naughty indeed.

I will stick to my weds weigh in, too, as it seems to be the most reliable time for me.

Hope you are all doing better than i am!

goldryder · 13/07/2008 16:25

hi all
i have just eaten a chocolate muffin after 4 days of being good. but i havent lost anything anyway so i thought i may as well... i have no will power! going to start running tomorrow, is anyone else a first time runner? i will probably manage a minute before I give up.

tooBIG · 13/07/2008 17:51

Don't worry goldryder, I cracked and had some chocolate after a month of abstaining (mind you was Green and Black's, at least I didn't crack for something that tasted crap!).

Twinkle: get off the scales!! Your weight can vary so much on a daily basis, partly due to fluid intake etc, that you won't get an accurate idea at all and will end up depressed.

Hope everyone's had a good weekend.

LisaLessLumpy · 13/07/2008 20:49

Today:

b 1 and 1/2 oz Rice Krispies, 4 floz skimmed milk, 1 crumpet and flora light.
l nectarine, pkt pretzels, 2 ryvita, philly extra light, corned beef
d chilli and rice
snacks made angel delight for the boys, one of them didn't eat it, so I did with some white choc buttons

Yes definitely don't weigh everyday, pick one day and stick to it. I weigh myself every wednesday first thing in the morning, totally starkers

EllieG · 13/07/2008 21:58

Oh I have had a rotten weekend, lots of rowing with DP over new-baby stress and have completely fallen off the wagon food-wise.

Never mind. Tomorrow is a new day and I WILL be good.

goldryder - I am a new runner and I managed about 2 secs it seemed. I used to be very fit pre-2 pregnancies and am now very not. When I ran I tried to alternate running/fast walking and will build up from there.

Am going to walk to mummy/baby group tomorrow. Is about 20/30 mins away I guess but up a hill, and I will try and do it at a good pace.

And I will eat sooooo healthily I will I will I will. And I am going to weigh myself tomorrow morning and then not til next monday.

goldryder · 13/07/2008 22:06

arrrrrgh i have just weighed myself and have put on a pound! must have been the muffin!

do i have to give up alcohol to loose weight?

TooBIG mmm i love green and blacks

EllieG sorry you had a rotten weekend...i will try the walking and running thing and see how i go!

EllieG · 13/07/2008 22:24

I think you do, but I am going to try eating much less so can still drink. If I give up wine I feel a bit sad....I don't smoke anymore so have to have some vices!

just ordered my ingredients for paella! however i am on the egg and grapefruit diet this week so will save it for a friday healthy treat

having a real crap day today already - arguing with dp what a fantastic way to start the week.....

hope you are all well

OP posts:
suey2 · 14/07/2008 10:06

no weight loss for me, but not surprised. will weigh weds- i find that monday is not reliable as my diet is so different at the weekend and i must have water retention from all the salt or something. I also did a pre and post BF weigh the other day which made 0.5 lb difference.

fifisworld · 14/07/2008 10:12

iamamummy - Sorry your having a crap morning

I had a treat last night - chicken chow mein from the chinese and it was so nice...now back to being good

Ok so i've weighed my self.....lost 2lb this week but i have tried really hard, just cut out all the snacking and up until last night had nothing unhealthy. Ive done exercise every night apart from friday

twinklelittlestar · 14/07/2008 15:49

Hi everyone

Congrats ladies on the weight loss!!

I managed to have a loss of 1lb (phew) . However, I think my scales are a little dodgy as they are not digital and when I move them around the bathroom floor (which is slightly uneven) i get different readings. So at some point this week I am going to invest in a digital pair... so i may even see an overall increase? on the positive side i have been weighing with these regularly for ages and have not lost a 1lb for months... so shifting in right direction.

Goldryder did you weigh in the evening? in my experience you always weigh heavier in the evening due to water retention etc??you may have lost?

no snacking still in the evenings for a whole week!!

b:50g sultana bran 1/4 ss milk
snack: 1/2 slice bread and lf marg and low sug jam;1 mini organic biscuit; handful grapes
lunch:salmon sandwich & muller light yog and fruit
snack: 3 pear slices

xx
