Lose a stone with me!

Have dabbled in various wl chats before but starting my own thread for accountability - would love some people to join me!

Weighed in yesterday at the heaviest I've ever been excluding pregnancy - 59.6kg 😓 In all honesty I shouldn't be shocked, my diet has been crap, but I'm just so disappointed in myself for letting it slide up so much (I was 56kg in May).

Anyway! Trying to stay positive and focus on the changes I will be making. Luckily I have lots to motivate me: a big birthday in late September that I want to be healthier for, and a very fancy wedding in October that is basically a college reunion so I want to look my best!

Plan is to seriously overhaul my diet (started yesterday), I already exercise a fair bit but will up the walking.

Not sure yet how often I'll weigh in but for posterity:

SW: 59.6
TW: 52ish

Edit to add that I am very short I'm case that's not clear!

Can I join. I'm 13st 11. Heaviest I've ever been whilst I do eat crap I think hormones and exhaustion are playing a small part. Not making excuses as I know 90% is because I snack and eat junk.
I go on holiday 14th Sept and I'd like to lose a few lbs before then.
So I'm not waiting until Monday to start I'm starting NOW.

HappyToSeeSomeCloud · 06/08/2026 08:59

Converted to kg I'm just over 87kg. So have lots to lose but I'll set a 4kg target .
Weetabix for breakfast ( need to go shopping as have no fruit left I am going this evening)

Amayonaising · 06/08/2026 09:21

Thanks @Droopydroopingdropped (your name feels very apt!) Ended up getting only 3hours sleep so will have to try and get a nap in after work somehow 😴 also have a banging headache, definitely a tiredness 'hangover', so will be a struggle not to snack all day to keep my energy up.

Welcome @Iocanepowder, @HappyToSeeSomeCloud and @AFPotts ! Definitely try switching lbs to kg - 10lb is 'only' 4.5kg so might help psychologically?

Arghh, can't sleep again tonight! Googling facts on sleep deprivation and weight gain to try and scare myself into sleeping... not working obviously 🙄

Visited my ILs this evening and brought my own food, felt like a bit of a loser but I can't get derailed at this early stage!! Thankfully my lovely DH ate my meal too - tbh he could do with losing a few kg off the belly as well, so it will do him no harm.

I can relate. Coming off antidepressants after taking them off and on for years due to GAD and it’s messed up my sleep. Gave blood yesterday so did indulge in the snacks afterwards but then came home, had lean sausages, air fryer chips and beans and loads of fruit. Went for a relatively early night then DD 13 woke me up at 1.30 to remove a massive spider from her room and then I was awake until almost 4am! I’m in a massive sleep deficit now as been struggling to fall asleep last few nights and with the blood donation I’m knackered! Anyway. I did weigh yesterday and was gutted to see I’ve put on 2.5lb but this also happened last week and I ended up with a loss when I went to slimming world on Saturday of 2.5lb so I don’t know what to think now. I’m fed up. Got my half stone award last November after around 3 weeks of slimming world then been up and down ever since and my total weight loss now is just 4.5lb! It’s soooo frustrating

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 06/08/2026 10:28

Weighed myself now and put 1.5lb on. I need to try and stop doing this!

DurtBurd · 06/08/2026 19:21

That's very frustrating @teaandtoastwithmarmite . Hopefully there's an overall downward trend behind it all.

There must be something in the air, I slept really badly last night too. Managed to get out for a short run with ds this evening after work. I also saw a new physiotherapist for a month's long rotator cuff problem this morning, so now I'm sore all over!

Friday morning is going to be the weight I record, so fingers crossed for tomorrow, after being down fractions during the week.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 06/08/2026 20:26

I don’t get it though as this happened last week and when I went to slimming world I’d lost 2.5lb! Hope you sleep better tonight

dazedandblue · 06/08/2026 20:31

@teaandtoastwithmarmiteare you by any chance about to start your period? I find my weight goes up a few days before and then settles back to normality a few days into my period.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 06/08/2026 20:52

No @dazedandblue I am peri menopausal but I have come off antidepressants recently. Not sure if that has anything to do with it

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 06/08/2026 20:57

The mad thing is though I feel like I’ve lost weight. I can feel bones in my thighs and my stomach feels tighter. Does anyone else get that?

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 06/08/2026 20:58

Fingers crossed @DurtBurd

dazedandblue · 06/08/2026 21:42

@teaandtoastwithmarmite I'm so sorry, you had posted this! I've been pulling silly hours at work so my brain isn't quite there! Could it be hormonal? Only as I'm guessing it's the hormone flux that causes mine.

No worries @dazedandbluei do think so

Amayonaising · 06/08/2026 23:58

Hope everyone had an okay day anyway - I survived the day (with a short nap after work) and am determined to get a good sleep now.

We're heading away for 5 nights tomorrow - would it be completely mad to take the weighing scales with me? 🙈 We're staying in a cottage and I'll be cooking so should be easy enough to keep up the healthy meals but I think if I have the scales it will help keep me accountable?

I had an ok day yesterday, I did a fair bit of exercise with a run at lunchtime and a dog walk and then an hour of weights in my home gym. I ache today! Dh and I had a glass of wine or several last night though, we finish today for holiday and I think I just wanted to destress. So I ended up not in a deficit really, but that’s probably how it will be for the next 2 weeks so…. 🤷‍♀️

today I have my meals semi planned, because it largely depends on using everything up fresh that I have. I will try and do another run at lunchtime to get some miles in.

SmallWhiteFluffyClouds · 07/08/2026 07:47

This week has gone ok so far. I came back from holiday on Sunday at 10st 3 and am now at 10st 0.9. This is typically the point I get stuck at so I hope I can push through.

I have been fasting until lunchtime each day and trying to avoid bread where possible.

I have to do some food shopping today so will try to find some options that help me keep going in the right direction.

tigerbear · 07/08/2026 08:02

@Amayonaising i think we must be weight loss twins! I’m the same height, same weight, same amount to lose as you, and very short in the torso, with all of my weight around my middle.

currentjy 9.5 stone and want to get to 8-8.5 stone.
Heaviest I’ve ever been, and feeling rubbish!
Am 49, so want to get to target weight by the time I turn 50 next year 🙏

Generally I cook from scratch, and main meals are healthy, but downfall is snacks such as crisps, plus a lot of alcohol 😬

What has worked for me before, is low carb, plus doing at least 15k steps a day, plus weight lifting (Caroline Gibran on YouTube), and doing the 30 Day Shred. I can no longer afford my gym membership, so going to try doing all the exercise at home, but it’s just getting started that’s the issue 🤪

Octovent · 07/08/2026 08:07

An ok day for me yesterday - 5 mile run plus a few dog walks, ended in a deficit and room for a twister (70 cals!)

I have a shop coming this morning with the bits I need to try the scotch eggs this weekend Grin

Amayonaising · 07/08/2026 08:32

Good morning ☀️

Feeling much better after a good sleep - melatonin ftw!

Almost week one over and think I've done really well so far, haven't had any crisps, chocolate or other junk (although I had an ice lolly yesterday too @Octovent - 41 cals 😜).

Have also walked 42km this week & swam 100 lengths.

DH is now talking about getting really stuck into healthy eating once we get back from our holiday... great news that will make things easier, just hope it doesn't mean he'll be trying to tempt me with treats the whole time we're away.

Well done @Amayonaising

dazedandblue · 07/08/2026 18:04

How is everyone logging/tracking their weight?

I did my initial weigh in on a Monday a few weeks ago. Now I try to weigh myself daily first thing in the morning, and then take the Sunday reading as the 'weeks' reading'.

However, the daily weight ins lets me see the trend of the week to give context to the Sunday reading and whether it's an anomaly or fairly consistent.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 07/08/2026 19:56

I go to slimming world so once a week and in my book/ on the app

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/08/2026 20:53

Finally finished work! 🙌 I went to bootcamp after work, I really didn’t want to but I am glad I did, I’m really tired and frazzled and I haven’t packed a single thing for holiday, but tomorrow I can pack and clean and get everything ready.

food has been ok probably calories wise but nutrition wise and fibre intake and protein grams = bloody awful. Can’t win them all 🤷‍♀️

Amayonaising · 07/08/2026 21:00

I'm weighing daily for now too @dazedandblue as so many people suggested it, and using the Libra app - which is the android version of the Happy Scales app that @Sunflowers83 recommended. I'm liking it so far, although I don't totally understand the trend lines exactly!
