Have dabbled in various wl chats before but starting my own thread for accountability - would love some people to join me!

Weighed in yesterday at the heaviest I've ever been excluding pregnancy - 59.6kg 😓 In all honesty I shouldn't be shocked, my diet has been crap, but I'm just so disappointed in myself for letting it slide up so much (I was 56kg in May).

Anyway! Trying to stay positive and focus on the changes I will be making. Luckily I have lots to motivate me: a big birthday in late September that I want to be healthier for, and a very fancy wedding in October that is basically a college reunion so I want to look my best!

Plan is to seriously overhaul my diet (started yesterday), I already exercise a fair bit but will up the walking.

Not sure yet how often I'll weigh in but for posterity:

SW: 59.6
TW: 52ish

Edit to add that I am very short I'm case that's not clear!

@SupernaturalAddictI think the same. Diagnosed peri earlier this year and finding SW so much harder. Realised something last night though. I’m often eating four pieces of fruit in the evening even if I’m not hungry and I think this might be something that I need to cut out or at least reach for the fruit when I’m hungry before the other things

Amayonaising · 11/08/2026 12:13

Sorry I've been MIA - have been enjoying our few days away a bit too much probably! Have consistently stayed at 57.3 for the last three mornings though and we're heading home tomorrow so will take it as a win!

It's so difficult and really we should be able to have fruit in the evening without thinking about it.

I just don't know how those naturally thin women do it.

I've been letting my dh pour me a glass of wine when I have the odd one during the week. I think this is my down fall after realising he likes big measures (tbh I have more turned a blind eye toit, school hols). I will do better and he is now not drinking until we go away so that will help.

Well done to everyone managing to lose or maintain.

Octovent · 13/08/2026 07:32

I've weighed the same for a few days, I seem to be coasting, and not trying very hard.

Yesterday I ate a cream cake in an evening meeting. Have regretted it ever since.

I had an in person team meeting/afternoon together in work and they had asked for snacks and nibbles, so I brought fruit platters. They actually went down really well.

I'm going away this weekend so will keep coasting and concious, aiming to go heavy when I'm back

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 13/08/2026 09:37

I went out for a carvery last night. It’s sent my body over the edge! Had a meal out on Tuesday too and weighing at home this morning I’ve put about 3lb on. I’ve had enough

Amayonaising · 13/08/2026 10:44

Well you're both matching my vibe anyway, feeling very blurgh today.

Ate far too much on the last day of hols and then had an eclipse 'party' when we got home yesterday that included a lot of Nachos 🙄back at work now and I'd love a diet coke and some chocolate to perk me up.

Will try to resist and have a swim planned for later... need to get my motivation back!

I’ve been suffering with biliary colic. Gallbladder’s not playing nicely so am on very low fat meals and no alcohol. Been feeling awful but the upside is I’ve lost 4.5lbs. Every cloud and all that!

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 13/08/2026 12:51

Sorry to hear you’re all feeling like me. And hope you’re feeling better soon @crowsinmygarden
This heat doesn’t help. Went to Aldi yesterday and ended up having an ice cream cone then a sundae after my carvery 🤦🏻‍♀️. I’m back on it today and because sat and mon were fine it’s probably limited the damage. Sorry for tmi but weighed again after toilet and it’s 2lb on lol. Going camping tomorrow for weekend so will not be going to slimming world. Will take the week to take stock and recognise one week doesn’t mean failure and try to assess over the month. Thanks for this group it is helpful.
Does anyone know how you go about getting WLI’s if you’re too slim for nhs?

SmallHouseEnergy · 13/08/2026 12:57

Posting
I came off MJ at a weight of 10s7 down from 13s. However, I have gone up to 10s12 in 4 weeks (had a holiday inbetween that time and shot up to 11s so most gain is from then as since coming back I haven’t gained and have lost 2 lbs)

My goal is 10stone so 12 lbs to go. I’m not finding food noise hard anymore which is nice, I know how to deal with this now, however it’s the work being undone when I’m due on! especially with sweets. I suffer with PMDD so eat ravenously during the week leading up to my period as well as other emotional stresses.

Hoping I can get firmer with myself whilst being realistic that I can’t cut all treats out as this never works

Not sure about getting wli, I don't meet the bmi requirements anyway so have never really looked into it too much.

Have had an okay day after all, went for a nap (better than a chocolate bar!) and a swim. No plan for dinner, it's quiet muggy here today and I don't feel like cooking anything at all.

After coasting and not trying hard, whilst not really being bad, my weight has dropped back into the 62's today. The joys of fluctuations.

I've got a big craving for stuffing my face like a pig so will make myself a huge bowl of jelly today.

@Amayonaising We can do this just fine without, just need to learn to navigate the GLP1 noise that seems to be everywhere Biscuit

Amayonaising · 14/08/2026 09:55

Yes @Octovent you're absolutely right, we can do just fine without! I don't think I've ever really had food noise luckily, but love your description of "GLP1 noise" - that's what it feels like!

I loathe jelly but need to find something that meets the stuffing my face requirements too, especially with my period on the way... too hot for soup so I'll have to think about it!

OP posts:
teaandtoastwithmarmite · 14/08/2026 10:24

@Octoventwhat is GLP1 noise?

Amayonaising · 15/08/2026 00:13

I don't want to speak for Octovent but I would say "GLP1 noise" is a tongue in cheek way of describing what feels like pressure to use WLI to lose weight - it's in my own head of course but sometimes do feel like it's 'unfair' that I don't have that option. Obviously I'm very lucky not to struggle with obesity or other related chronic conditions that mean I don't need WLI but the brain is not always rational, especially when I'm on a diet!

Well after a week at 57.3 every day I'm delighted to see I'm down to 56.9 again today! Delighted with that.

Week 2 ✔️
Sw 59.6
Cw 56.9
Tw 52

Goal for this week is 56.6kg as that would mean I'm 3kg down from my starting weight, I'm due on though so we'll see how that goes.

How is everyone else doing?

Calimerogirl · 15/08/2026 15:17

Hi, new here from today (blush).

I also would like to join: for accountability.
I only need to get rid of 3 kilos, but those "only 3" are so uncomfortable with blabber around the waist! I'm in the middle of meno and my body shape is changing a lot. I walk quite a bit and do strength exercise.

It's light lunch and home cooked dinner for me (coffee in the morning) but... Crosta Mollica snacks, Sunbite crisps and white wine before dinner are my downfall (and the naughty aperol spritz at the weekend which I know has too much sugar).

Feeling silly really... I know what to do but... it's been 4 years. Sometimes it goes down a bit, and then right back up (salt & water retention noted lately).

Anyway, I'm feeling a bit shy at the prospect of a large community here, but hopefully it will do me good.

Calimerogirl · 15/08/2026 15:23

lol

Amayonaising · 15/08/2026 19:51

Welcome @Calimerogirl ! It's gone a bit quiet here this week but hoping it'll pick back up again because I do find this great for accountability.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 15/08/2026 21:40

@Amayonaisingah I get that! I feel like it’s not fair that I can’t eat what I like and feel why don’t u just use them! I have noticed I do eat a lot when I’m not hungry though.

dazedandblue · 16/08/2026 09:41

I had a few days this week where I was hovering at 55.9, but netted out at 56 this morning for my 'official' weigh day. I had a few glasses of wine last night, no regrets!

SW: 60kg
CW: 56.0
GW: 50-52

My clothes don't feel any looser yet, but maybe when I reach the 54s.

How is everyone? Any good Sunday plans?

DeftGoldHedgehog · 16/08/2026 09:55

I'll join, if you don't mind that I'm taking 2.5mg Mounjaro. I started at 189lbs last year, I'm 5'7" and aged 50, in menopause and I have PCOS.

CW: 163lbs, 73.9kgs (BMI 25.6)
GW: 147lbs, (66.6kgs) (BMI 23.1)

Goal for end of this month is to tip into the 150s.

Oh well done @dazedandblue that's very motivating, you're about 5 weeks in aren't you?

Do you ever feel there's a certain amount you have to lose for it to be "real"? I get the fear I suppose that it's 'just' water weight, that I might be back at the start again tomorrow etc.

That's a fantastic loss, well done you! You're very welcome to join 🙏

I hope you don't mind me asking about your PCOS - a very good friend struggles with it and I'd love to understand more.
Has losing weight improved your symptoms dramatically? Has menopause changed how pcos affects your weight do you think?

The mounjaro seems to help a great deal. It has made me realise I likely am insulin resistant which is why the mj helps so much, as originally it was a diabetic treatment (and still very much is). My mum had T2 diabetes and though I wasn't pre-diabetic I felt I'd be heading that way in my 50s at a higher weight. Though the thing that convinced me to start on mj was joint pain when exercising when I was heavier.

Re my weight I seem to have a tipping point of about 12 stone into insulin resistance, and once my weight goes above this I can easily end up at 13 something as my hunger and carb cravings suddenly seem to increase exponentially. Hence wanting to be ten stone odd to try and stay away from that level, hoping that I can carry on without mj eventually. I have learnt a lot more about the endocrine system in the last year or so though and may have to stay on a low dose for a long time, or come back to it if my weight creeps up too much.
