Have dabbled in various wl chats before but starting my own thread for accountability - would love some people to join me!

Weighed in yesterday at the heaviest I've ever been excluding pregnancy - 59.6kg 😓 In all honesty I shouldn't be shocked, my diet has been crap, but I'm just so disappointed in myself for letting it slide up so much (I was 56kg in May).

Anyway! Trying to stay positive and focus on the changes I will be making. Luckily I have lots to motivate me: a big birthday in late September that I want to be healthier for, and a very fancy wedding in October that is basically a college reunion so I want to look my best!

Plan is to seriously overhaul my diet (started yesterday), I already exercise a fair bit but will up the walking.

Not sure yet how often I'll weigh in but for posterity:

SW: 59.6
TW: 52ish

Edit to add that I am very short I'm case that's not clear!

Do I need to post in kg. It might help me refocus actually. Also I weigh weekly not daily as it makes me overthink things. Hope that’s ok

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 04/08/2026 21:05

I’m 78kg and want to be 67kg

SmallWhiteFluffyClouds · 04/08/2026 21:07

May I please join too? I had managed to lose 6 lbs before my holiday after a long time trying, but I’ve come back after all inclusive and I’m back to my starting weight of 10st 3lb!

I am 5ft 4 and would love to get to 9 1/2 stone and ultimately 9 stone. It’s for health reasons too as I had gestational diabetes and am now prediabetic.

It sounds weird but I think the thing that helped me lose weight before my holiday was watching a competitive eater on Facebook. Seeing her eating lots and get really full made me feel really full too, and so I’d watch one of her videos every time I felt like snacking.

Amayonaising · 04/08/2026 21:07

Happy scales doesn't seem to be available on android but have downloaded Libra which is v similar apparently! Will give it a go and see if it suits me - thanks @Sunflowers83

@teaandtoastwithmarmite not at all, post in whatever metric you like best!

@SmallWhiteFluffyClouds that has got to be the strangest tip I ever heard 😂how did you think of watching competitive eaters?

I'm so sorry for your crappy days today @thenewaveragebear1983 and @DurtBurd
I find it so hard when the day is crap to stay strong!

I feel I would be so athletic and peppy and positive if I didn't have a bloody full time job!

Haha, it just came up randomly a few times and I realised it was psychologically useful so I carried on!! It’s like it simulates the feeling of eating for me.

Octovent · 04/08/2026 22:12

@thenewaveragebear1983 which podcast do you listen to?

Octovent · 04/08/2026 22:16

I had a fairly ok day but it ended with a cupcake which chucked me up to 1650 cals. Must do better tomorrow.

Does anyone have good snack ideas? I'm getting very bored of my 3pm plain greek yoghurt Cake

dazedandblue · 04/08/2026 22:38

@Octovent
It not everyone’s cup of tea but I love a Peter’s yard cracker or two with cottage cheese, black pepper and lemon (and / or chilli flakes).

or pick a topping you like more

it has the crunch, the creaminess and the flavour hit so I feel like I hit every craving ha!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/08/2026 06:33

@Octovent it’s a lady called Ruth Mac, the podcast is Ruth Mac fit. She’s a pt, very knowledgeable but also early 40’s, busy life, teenagers, so very relatable. On Facebook and insta she does reels as well where she tests out viral recipes and tweaks them which I also like. Highly recommend her.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/08/2026 06:42

I often do well when I cut out sugar and focus on savoury snacks, I do think some days we just need more food but I figure at least if it’s savoury it’s more nutritious than sugary empty rubbish. I actually really like the cottage cheese ‘bread’ type recipes, they are tasty and filling and texturally they are good and fill you up.

I feel a bit brighter this morning although not looking forward to a long day at work followed by a social til 7pm. I despise forced fun 🤣 on the plus side though I have booked a distant hotdesk and taking my headphones and I am just going to get my head down and crack on with a few bits of work I really need to do. I’ll take my lunch, although we do have an amazing staff cafe, and hopefully not be tempted by pizza and cakes at this event. It’s a lot cooler here today with a drizzle of rain so I might get an evening run or workout in.

keep on keeping on ladies. I am really trying not to flick the holiday switch just yet, I was tempted yesterday but glad I didn’t. I can’t make any promises about today 🤣

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/08/2026 06:45

Oh my other fave snack is the old slimming world style scotch eggs, they are also very filling and tasty. I just use boiled eggs, get 5% pork mince which I season up (eg add Tom puree, bbq seasoning, pepper etc) and you sort of wrap a handful of the mince around a peeled boiled egg. Then bake in the oven until the mince is cooked through, do it on a fairly low heat or the mince coating will split.

tralalalalalalalaala · 05/08/2026 08:09

I’ve been so bad at keeping up with this thread but I’m motivated every time I come back!

wondered what everyone was doing for lunches as I find lunch the hardest to do? It’s okay if I’ve got dinner leftovers for the next day but I just really feel uninspired at lunch time.

I have an office job and am in the office 4 days a weeks so really need to plan ahead and I think I’m getting bored of planning and I’m a bit bored of the rotations I’ve got, even though it’s clearly working as I’m down a total of 6.4lbs as of this morning :)

Droopydroopingdropped · 05/08/2026 08:21

Morning all

A bit achey from a long walk yesterday but weighed myself and delighted to be 57.9kg today
I even had had a few crisps yesterday but not the whole bag like I normally do.
Going on a long hike on Saturday so will pack a nice picnic
If I can get back into the walking that will be great
Planning my meals definitely seems to help

Amayonaising · 05/08/2026 09:08

I've had soup for lunch the past few days, there's a really nice tomato one from lidl that you can buy in a 1L tub and yesterday I made my own veg soup so will eat that again today. Might work if you have a microwave in your office @tralalalalalalalaala ?

I work from home most days so have been using the quiet times to get lots of walking done, did 5km yesterday and then also went to the gym and pool last night so feeling pleased.

Slept very badly last night and have a headache already this morning but will try a cup of herbal tea and a walk instead of the usual sugar boost at 11am that's my normal go-to.

@tralalalalalalalaala this week I made a big chopped salad, I use a pouch of grains, chopped peppers, spring onion, you can add any chopped veg, feta cheese, I used lemon juice and a tbsp of balsamic fig dressing, handful of raisins. To serve grate on some cheese, and mix a bit of mayo in and add your protein / avocado or whatever you like. I find having the base for the salad already done makes it much easier to put together a really tasty salad bowl. I got 3 portions out of it at 270 calories per portion, plus whatever the extras add up to.

tralalalalalalalaala · 05/08/2026 23:07

Thanks @Amayonaising there is a microwave at work which is a novelty tbh as I don’t have one at home so soup is a good idea!

and I do like the idea of a big base salad and then choosing a protein to go with a great plan @thenewaveragebear1983 so I might give that a go next week!

I feel like I am so disciplined start of the week but I do really lose momentum towards the end.. just tired of having to always think ahead but I’m always happier when I do plan it out properly!

Amayonaising · 06/08/2026 02:30

Arghh, can't sleep again tonight! Googling facts on sleep deprivation and weight gain to try and scare myself into sleeping... not working obviously 🙄

Visited my ILs this evening and brought my own food, felt like a bit of a loser but I can't get derailed at this early stage!! Thankfully my lovely DH ate my meal too - tbh he could do with losing a few kg off the belly as well, so it will do him no harm.

Can I join too? I am always struggling to lose then not regain around 4kg. At the moment I’m 62kg (160cm) but feel best around 57-58kg. I’m going to try the chopped salad thing as I tend to have a late breakfast and snack on protein things in the afternoon like turkey balls or m&S cherry split pots. I think having the veg will fill me up more. Also need to cut out the wine but so many social things going on over summer

Droopydroopingdropped · 06/08/2026 06:47

Oh no @Amayonaising
I was awake from 2.30am until 4 this morning too
Hope you can rest today
Managed to get a couple of hours sleep but got a pounding headache
Still weighed myself and happy to report 57.5kg today tho given the state of my head I am sure I am in for a day of snacking and resting
The weather has turned diabolical too

Octovent · 06/08/2026 06:55

I'm forever short on time so I often buy those huge 'party salad' packs, some ready cooked chicken breast, and some low fat salad cream and chuck it together in a few minutes. I think I did ok yesterday but I'm straying from tracking, which is where I'll always start to go wrong. Will track every calorie today 😁

Iocanepowder · 06/08/2026 06:57

I’ll join op! I am also only 5ft and struggled with weight loss since having kids, mainly because of lack of time to exercise and also not wanting to make a separate meal for myself.

Last night though i made pasta and meatballs and had a salad instead of the pasta, might try and do that more often.

Iocanepowder · 06/08/2026 07:02

Also just to add that i’ve been wanting to lose weight for ages but my main motivation now is that I am being a bridesmaid next year!

AFPotts · 06/08/2026 08:05

I'd love to join too. I'm aiming to lose 10lbs, the same 10lbs I've been trying to lose for a few years :( Maybe I should switch to kgs, to see it in a new light.

My appetite really reduces on low carb so I'll try to stick to that. Feeling a bit hopeless though, definitely need the accountability of something like this!
