Have dabbled in various wl chats before but starting my own thread for accountability - would love some people to join me!

Weighed in yesterday at the heaviest I've ever been excluding pregnancy - 59.6kg 😓 In all honesty I shouldn't be shocked, my diet has been crap, but I'm just so disappointed in myself for letting it slide up so much (I was 56kg in May).

Anyway! Trying to stay positive and focus on the changes I will be making. Luckily I have lots to motivate me: a big birthday in late September that I want to be healthier for, and a very fancy wedding in October that is basically a college reunion so I want to look my best!

Plan is to seriously overhaul my diet (started yesterday), I already exercise a fair bit but will up the walking.

Not sure yet how often I'll weigh in but for posterity:

SW: 59.6
TW: 52ish

Edit to add that I am very short I'm case that's not clear!

I'd love to join! I'm 63kg trying to get to 57kg.

I've been getting really disheartened lately feeling like I'm very much doing this on my own while everyone seems to be on the jabs and I just can't relate to that.

I'm down a couple of kg so far, it's a very very slow game Grin

NatalieNatalieNatalie · 03/08/2026 22:10

Oh, me too please! I’ve always been 47-52 KG since I was 15 (excluding pregnancy). The weight’s come out of nowhere these last couple of years. I’m now 57.8, and it’s ALL on my stomach and chin(s). I don’t really know where to start with diet and exercising, so will be stealing ideas from here.

Amayonaising · 03/08/2026 22:20

Yes 100% this!! I'm so happy for the friends /family that have had success with wli but I can't help feeling left behind 😕

Do you eat that with no rice/potato or whatever carb? I can't cope without carbs, have done low-carb before and it just makes me miserable.

Had baked potato, carrots and an omelette for tea 🍳

I do eat carbs, though today my evening carb was a stolen 3 bites of my son’s pizza from working late and waiting for the salmon to cook. 😆

Usual carbs are rice, sometimes sourdough toast, garlic potatoes or starchy vegetables like edamame.
Or on occasion a cheeky piece of focaccia.

Droopydroopingdropped · 04/08/2026 05:43

Morning all!
I slept well and got a decent body battery score unlike when I scoff a load of crisps and ice cream ( possibly the Ninja Creami was a mistake 🙃)
I added some mashed cauliflower to the roti and it was a bit soft so added more gram flour and then it was perfect. I always feel I sleep better if I have cauliflower for some reason.
Anyway pleased I didn't have crisps
Got a busy day with hospital appointments etc so will see but evening meal is roast chicken with a big salad.
Don't know about breakfast or lunch yet.
What is everyone else having today?
I'm like you @Amayonaising even tho the weight drops off when I low carb it is not satisfying and I feel so sad on it
I prefer to have lovely carbs like fruit veg and my fave sweet potatoes
I could write a book about my love for sweet potato!

Callcat · 04/08/2026 05:47

I’d like to join please! Will weigh when I get up. But def aware I have some weight to lose and have a sports holiday in 8 weeks that I need to be lighter for. For the fitness but also for the beach!

DogGawn · 04/08/2026 05:51

I’m also 63kg @Octovent and trying to get to 58-59kg. TBH I would settle on just being under 60kg. All my weight is around my tummy!

At the moment I am aiming to eat around 1400-1450 calories a day. Of course this can fluctuate and sometimes it's more like 1,500-1550.

However, I've managed to fit wine in and an occasional candy or cheese or similar and even had a cheeseburger. It hasn't felt super restrictive and for the most part I've felt super satiated. I try to eat a lot of protein, some grains like rice and then vegetables like edamame, peppers, spinach and avocado etc. all with lots of seasoning and/or some sort of sauce.

I looked on TDEE and to maintain 50-52kg with 'Light Exercise' (gymming 1-2 times a week I assume) has me at around 1,550.

I figured once I get to my target weight I can see if I plateau and can slowly increase my target to 1,500 and see if I keep maintaining or start gaining again.

Thank you. That’s really helpful. I’m trying to find the right balance of calories that are enough to fuel my exercise (I walk a lot and do strength workouts with dumbbells at home 5 days per week) but will still result in fat loss.

Meant to reply to this specifically as well!

I've always been between 8 - 8 and half stone (51 - 54kg), literally since I was 15yo. Just took it for granted tbh, never really had to worry about dieting, but in the last 3-4 years it's just been a battle. Imagine it's hormonal? My periods have definitely started to become less consistent.

Yes, it feels so hard when it is such a difference to what I’ve been used to. The difference in how I look between 8st and 9st is huge!

I also agree with what you said to a previous comment about frame size. I have a very small frame (tiny wrists, thin legs/arms) and it looks like the whole of this extra stone has gone on my belly! I’m trying to work on body recomposition as well as losing the weight (doing dumbbell workouts at home).

I’m a daily weigher. Is anyone else? I record my weight on Happy Scale as it helps to show trends and fluctuations. 8st13.5 this morning.

I'm aiming for 60kg to start with! It's taking me about a month to lose 1kg when I'm focused. It sounds so close but reality is, it's so far 😆

Today I'll have porridge, a gym kitchen microwave meal (I have falled into this 'easy option' rut lately, it will do for now), a greek yoghurt, and stir fry. Plus a 5k run this evening.

Octovent · 04/08/2026 07:02

I weigh daily too, add into a spreadsheet where it turns into my weekly average and a few graphs. I've done it for a while now so don't bat an eyelid anymore when the numbers jump around so much Grin happy scale sounds interesting though, I'm off to check it out!

Callcat · 04/08/2026 08:16

I weighed! Sounds like lots of us are around the same sorta weight. I’m 58.1 kg. I’m aiming for 54 by October. It’s low for me at 5ft7 but it’s a performance weight for climbing. I’ll intentionally gain a bit then after the holiday. My easiest win would be cutting alcohol but I have very low willpower to not have a cider or two at the end of a day. I’ll boulder today on an empty stomach, then have some tuna salad, and apple and a caramel skinny whip (my latest addiction lol). I think I’ll try stick to a small eating window and if I do have the cider it’ll have to be within my eating hours.

Callcat · 04/08/2026 08:16

I’m going to weigh daily too!

Yes the difference is huge for me too, I'm 2 dress sizes bigger in some clothes - have really been leaning into the baggy style that's so popular at the moment.

Like you I have thin wrists/ankles, I also have quite long legs for my height... although my upper thighs and bum have gotten quite chunky. Sadly I have totally lost any waist definition now and am looking quite square 🥲

Interesting that so many of you are daily weighers, I'll have to give that some thought. I'm afraid that if I don't see any loss I'll become very demotivated (and give up) so was planning on stretching out the weigh-ins and maybe doing it weekly on Saturdays.

Do you find it helps with accountability/consistency to weigh in more frequently?

OP posts:
tralalalalalalalaala · 04/08/2026 10:22

hi everyone 👋🏻 I do weigh daily also. I just find it really helps see a trend but I’m finding my weights to be really inconsistent this time around - when I stop eating in an evening really affects it, whether I have carbs and for which meal etc but overall the numbers come down. It’s just a bit all over the place whereas last time I was down almost every day.

just one weigh in a week for me doesn’t do much for me though. I sort of need to build it into a habit and weighing myself at the start of everyday really keeps me honest. Like setting good intentions I guess!

Amayonaising · 04/08/2026 12:51

Well motivated by all you lovely ladies I just weighed myself - 58.55kg! I know it must just be water weight but very encouraging 😅

So now:
Sw 59.6
Cw 58.55
Tw 52

Whoop!

Well done @Amayonaising

For those asking about daily weighing - personally, I prefer it. (But I know some people can find this difficult, so obviously it needs to be a personal choice.)

My weight can fluctuate for no obvious reason. If I only weighed weekly, I’d have no way of knowing if it just happened to be a lower or higher day. I’d definitely recommend using an app such as Happy Scale. It means that you can clearly see trends rather than worrying about a one-off weight.

dazedandblue · 04/08/2026 19:37

I’m also a fan of daily weighing as it lets me see a trend rather than a number in isolation. As I also know I can bob up and down during the course of a week/2weeks/a month.

I had some yoghurt with honey and granola this morning at work and then as I was commuting, picked up the mushroom rice box from Leon for lunch. It sounded better than it was… didn’t love it… and 8 bloody quid as well!

Commuting back home now and will likely make some eggs and leftover salmon.

Definitely put your current and target weight into the TDEE and it should give you a baseline.

I’m not entirely sure how it calculates activity levels so then it’s probably a bit of trial and error to find the sweet spot of feeling ful and calibratingl. I definitely don’t force myself to starve or feel hungry just to stay in it’s recommendation.

But also, I’ve found I had such a warped sense of portion sizing and found what kinds of food keep me full and satiated even if I’ve done some weights or a cardio. (For me it’s lots of protein, good fats and then some carbs).

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/08/2026 20:13

I weigh every couple of days and usually take my lowest weight as my weigh in for the week, gradually that lowest weight creeps down although the highest weight still goes right up to where I started. In a podcast I like, the host talks about this and says it’s much less likely to get a false low than a false high and recommended that method for us 40+ ladies who magically gain 7lbs overnight but take 4 months to lose 3lb 🤷‍♀️

I had a crappy day today. I want to break up for holiday. I’m tired. My job is stressful and difficult, (new job and it’s really technical and I feel like I am constantly winging it). It’s been super hot and really muggy today as well, I literally had wet skin under my clothes during calls 🤮

anyway. I ate loads, I really wanted chocolate or cake or anything really, I went for a walk after dinner to buy chocolate but actually I didn’t, and I’m glad I didn’t. Still ending way over my allowance but probably near enough to tdee to not be a major problem.

Amayonaising · 04/08/2026 20:57

Well done on resisting the chocolate @thenewaveragebear1983 👏 I've decided to fully cut chocolate out of my diet for the foreseeable, it's just not something I'm able to moderate with! Haven't had any since Friday though and not missing it yet, biggest challenge will be when I get my period in a few weeks, that's always when I ruin good habits I've built... tips for that would be appreciated if anyone has any advice?

DurtBurd · 04/08/2026 21:01

Much sympathy @thenewaveragebear1983 , I had a really shit day at work today too. I was booked into a class at the gym at 7.30 this evening and I got a message from the owner to ask if I could make the earlier one as the instructor wasn't available. I couldn't but graciously agreed to cancel so I could sit in the couch, eat chocolate and feel sorry for myself, but then he found a sub, so I went. I'm glad I did, but I also still want chocolate. Luckily there's none in the house.

I also weigh daily but will probably post losses weekly.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 04/08/2026 21:01

I’m in. I’ve lost weight before and then lost the plot as got closer to target and messed up my lifestyle choices or things got in the way. I’m 12st 3lb and want to get to 10st 7lb.
