Has anyone lost weight without the jabs ?

Nowadays I see so many posts about weightloss and then about the weight loss jabs and pills, has anyone lost weight without using the medication ? I’m really big for what I was before and uncomfortable but feel like I’ll just fail also taking the jabs medication is not an option for me

I mean this kindly - but for many the jabs do make it much easier especially for those who have struggled with weight loss. Yes some lose weight without but others don’t due to various reasons including hormones. Why not try and lose weight without but give yourself a deadline - eg if I haven’t lost 10kg by November I’ll start with the jabs.

I can't have the jabs as I'm breastfeeding. I've lost 4 stone in the past 16 months. I've taken a slow and steady approach and not hating myself for slipping up. I struggle, really struggle, with dieting and calorie counting and I have a massive sweet tooth but it is coming off slowly but surely .

Weigh everything is my tip, never eye ball it, it's so easy especially when you have the same meal over again to let the portion sizes slip. Eat filling low cal foods such as overnight oats but with skyr 0% for example, it's really filling and not many kcal. Work out your tdee and bmr and go about 500cal under that.

If you manage to be in a deficit most days it'll work.

I’ve lost weight both on and off the jabs - 2st through exercise and calorie deficit alone, 3st using WLI and subsequent deficit. They are frankly incomparable. One was an exhausting, desperately hard slog and the other was like magic.

But both worked. The weight came off.

I lost over 2 stone by eating basically only healthy stuff and eating between 11am and 5pm. Lots of liquid before 11. That took several months and going for little walks. Not for exercise but to help digestion and to stop me eating more after dinner. It distracted to give time for my stomach to tell my head that I'm full.

socks1107 · Yesterday 19:18

Yes 3.5 stone since last January with 5lbs left to go.
I’ve followed calorie counting, it’s been a slog but I was really worried about side effects on the jabs. I knew I desperately needed to loose weight and was getting a bit jealous of everyone else doing it tbh so started my own way and it’s worked.

I lost 7 stone without injections. I would have taken them but they weren’t a thing when I started unfortunately. It took 2 years and I just ate less. When my weight got lower I strictly calorie counted. It’s incredibly boring and hard to stick to every day of your life but I thought about the life I wanted and just kept doing it. I still have to do it now to maintain and I’ve maintained for a few years now

friedaklein · Yesterday 19:34

Yes, but slowly because I am 54 and didn't have that much to lose: maybe a stone. I have lost half a stone since March and hope to lose the rest. Down from a size 14 to a 12.

Littletreefrog · Yesterday 19:36

I lost 3 stone without the jabs. Took roughly a year. Just boring old calorie counting and moving more.

Thelondonone · Yesterday 19:37

I have done both. I actually lost more quickly doing the fast 800 but I didn’t keep it off after about 2 years. I’ve lost much more slowly on the jabs but I’m trying to change habits. I’m not sure it is that much easier-I could stuff myself. I’m trying to correct my disordered eating as I am either on a diet or eating everything in sight. I’d like to be someone who can have one biscuit. I’m not there yet!

BoilingHotand50something · Yesterday 19:38

Yes! I have done it twice. First time I low carbed which I found easy but then a few spanners in the works threw me off, and had quite a long spell of weight gain.!This time by only eating in an 8 hour window - usually between midday and 8pm. With tea and coffee outside that window. Again, found it easy. Very slow and steady weight loss but I honestly really suit this way of eating. So I am hopeful the loss will continue and then I can maintain via the same method.

DisplayPurposesOnly · Yesterday 19:42

Lost 3.5st in 2024 through calorie counting, about a quarter of my weight

Put a bit more on since so im trying to get back on track again.

hansenhen · Yesterday 19:46

Yes. Several times over. I lost a couple of stone, sometimes 3 then put it all back on again. I was never able to lose as much as I needed and I was never able to sustain the losses I did achieve. I have now lost 9 stone using WLI and with continued use I can maintain that loss. It is honestly life changing. I know you say you can’t use WLI but does that also rule out the tablets?

Franticbutterfly · Yesterday 19:48

I lost 5st in 2023-24, eating very low calorie and fasting. Since December due to significant family circumstances, I have put 50lb back on…I’m not stuffing my face all day, but I have t2d, albeit controlled, and have to exercise loads and eat barely anything to maintain weight and I don’t feel I can do this, with the singleminded focus required, I just don’t have to capacity. So yesterday I started on Mounjaro. I’m hoping it’ll provide the edge I no longer feel I have when it comes to weight loss. I have an event in November and want to look like myself.

fiesta · Yesterday 19:54

I have lost 15kg since beginning of April. Just by diet and very little exercise so its doable. It was hard at the beginning but doable once i was used to it. Just had one meal a day.

SilenceInside · Yesterday 19:55

People do lose weight without medication. GLP1 medications undoubtedly make it possible/easier for those that want to and can take them but that doesn't mean it's impossible without them.

I wouldn't let a fear of failure stop you from giving it a go, there's nothing to lose by seeing how you get on with some simple calorie tracking.

You could start by tracking the calories that you're eating now and compare that to the amount of calories you need a day to maintain your weight. Then work out ways that you can reduce your calorie total that don't feel like a big hardship or something that you can't maintain. At the same time, you could increase your daily activity levels - more walking, exercising at home to videos, or on a treadmill/exercise machine of some kind. See how you get on with that for a while.

No one has ever lost weight naturally. Everyone has used injections particularly in medieval times.

indigorising · Yesterday 20:00

Yes. Lost the 19lbs I’d been trying to lose for 5 years. Took 5 months. I found a really supportive weight loss group with a fab lead. The weight loss plan is supported by the NHS. I continue to attend the group to embed the good habits.

Victorius19 · Yesterday 20:01

I've lost just over 4 stone naturally, and probably over 3 years. I've still got a few stone to shift, but I'm happy plodding on. I'm type 2 diabetic, and follow a combination of 16/8 and lower carb. Diabetic nurse won't prescribe as my BMI is 33, and I'm not risking it with the medication I'm already on.

My eldest DD is on them, through the local hospital as she has a serious medical condition that weight greatly affects, and she's lost 4 stone in just over 6 months - she's on the lowest dose due to side effects. For her, it's been a lifeline.

I have lost weight 60 pounds without the jabs around 5 years ago using Atkins diet just before I hit 40s then I tried to loose again recently and nothing worked , keto , Atkins , reduced calories etc , then I tried Mounjaro and yes I lost 2 stone in 2 months then got pregnant and had to stop . The good news is baby is born and I didn’t put any weight so back to pre pregnancy weight . I will restart Mounjaro once baby is started on solids

Smilingzebra · Yesterday 20:57

I'm really happy as I've lost 2.5 stone since early March, no jabs. I've been counting my calories religiously using the nutracheck app, upped my protein a lot, plus started doing weights. It's about 20% of my starting weight gone, and I'm now in the middle of healthy BMI, the first time in ages. I have an under active thyroid which isn't very well medicated (despite my GP's best efforts!) so that doesn't make things particularly easy, but I've had 3 good meals a day and haven't felt like I've had to starve myself, just very careful meal planning and giving up alcohol. If you'd told me last year I could do this, I wouldn't have believed you!

LoserWinner · Yesterday 21:52

I lost a lot of weight before the jabs were a thing. I went low cal, low carb, 16:8 fasting and weighed everything that went into my mouth. It took 18 months to lose six stone, but along the way, I completely reset my relationship with food and because of that, I have stayed at my target weight for years. I’m not opposed to WLI, and if they’d been available, I’d probably have used them, but it can be done without if you want to lose weight badly enough, and have the self-discipline and patience to stick with it.

MrsPepperpotty · Yesterday 21:57

I've lost weight (about 2.5 stone) in the past without using the jabs. I'm finding it much harder to lose weight now I'm in my 50s and menopausal, so this time I am using the jabs (lost 1.5 stone so far).

TheSmellOfSea · Yesterday 22:01

Yes with berberine. I shit for England though 🤣💩
I only took 1 capsule a day.
It definitely helped make my stomach smaller too.
I've had a rest from it but going back on. My appetite definitely lessened.

notthatbloominwebsite · Yesterday 22:08

I’ve lost 2.5 stone since Jan just calorie counting and moving more. I have incorporated 2-3 strength training sessions into the week as well. Minimum of 7500 steps a day (most days a lot more) that I either split into a couple of short walks or do one longer one in the evening. I have a very sedentary job (or at least have had since Covid) and had really piled on the weight. I agree with a poster up thread weigh everything even sauce it’s amazing how quickly those calories add up
