Anyone want to join me on a two week hard-keto restart from June 29th?

After losing a very significant amount of weight, I’m stalling with the final 1.5st.

I know that Keto isn’t for everyone, but it works for me, albeit my downfalls are bread and sugary things so I’m going to do a two week burst of very strict keto, in the hopes that it’ll help me reset a little and find my motivation again.

Would anyone like to join me?

I currently have a fridge full of turkey burgers, Brie, and full-fat Greek yogurt.

Can’t restart for a few more days but following along with interest. I eased up for our holiday after a month of keto, because it’s just too hard to manage when we’re travelling. I was noticing the benefits before and I’m keen to get back into it. The food noise and carb cravings were noticeable as soon as I started back on carbs.

allthewayaround · 28/06/2026 23:25

Me please!!

Castlerigg · 28/06/2026 23:30

I’d like to have a go, I’ve been doing low carb since the start of the year and definitely seeing benefits, but I could do with stepping it up.

Clearingaspace · 29/06/2026 01:28

I would like a couple of strict weeks but not exactly keto. I was planning on aiming for under 50g carbs would it be annoying if I join but not doing proper keto?

Fatiguedwithlife · 29/06/2026 01:47

I could do with it but have no idea where to start.
Also love carbs and CBA with proper food at the moment so this will do me good!
got some plain yoghurt in the fridge I’ll start with that in the morning (and ignore the fact I was just sitting with my feet in cold water in the bath because they were too hot, And I ate two chocolate pick me ups).
Does anybody fancy sharing their diet sheet/ Food planner to give me some inspiration?

RustyShackIeford · 29/06/2026 11:38

Welcome all (who have joined and those keeping an eye on the thread to potentially jump on at a later stage!).

Day 1 and the weigh-in is done 🙈
Not going to post the first figure but it ends with 7.6kg so that’s what I’m going to base any losses off of. My goal is to lose 1.5st/9.5kg so let’s see how much of the first 7.6kg I can tackle in the next two weeks.

Currently sitting here with a coffee made with almond milk. Not feeling particularly hungry so no breakfast yet and no clear lunch plans but have plenty of Greek yogurt and eggs and meat in.

For dinner, I’m planning on a beef burger (from local butchers- they combine the meat with bone marrow so very tasty and high fat) with cheese, fried mushrooms, and a little mayo. Will add either broccoli or rocket and spinach salad, depending on the mood.

@FatiguedwithlifeI don’t have a solid meal plan just yet but if you’re a ChatGPT user, I find it great. Tell it what you do and don’t like to eat, advise of what you’d like to stick to in terms of calories, protein etc. and it’ll make meal plans. You can also use it to track the macros of a meal and if you give it your day’s intake, it can advise where improvements can be made- eg, upping fibre etc. I know not everyone loves AI, but I’ve found it a godsend for weightloss and diet management.

Absolutely not annoying at all! You’re very welcome- everyone is.

Best of luck! What are you using to track carbs? They’re absolutely my downfall. I’d happily live on bread.

Thanks @RustyShackIeford

I usually use chronometer but not sure if that’s the best for keto/low carb - think it’s Canadian. Its probably better to use a UK app like nutracheck for consistency (if you are in the UK!)

I have kind of jumped straight in but not necessarily prepped so will aim to lower my carbs over coming days! I definitely need almond milk too - can’t be doing with black coffee. Had some cows milk but tried to keep it to just a splash!

Chat GPT sounds great but I don’t really use AI beyond search engine AI results. If you get any useful tips let us know!

I had cheese omelette for breakfast and about to have tofu and chicken stir fry, so potentially a bit carby but will try to do damage control when serving it up! Luckily I have a packet of cauliflower rice.

UrOutdoors · 29/06/2026 14:27

I’m in, if you’ll have me! However I’m another “max 50g carbs” person.

RustyShackIeford · 29/06/2026 19:42

Right, day one is done.

Breakfast: coffee with almond milk.

Lunch: 200g full fat Greek yogurt with a scoop of whey protein and chia seeds.

Dinner: Burger with cheese and some mayo, steamed vegetables (cauliflower, broccoli, green beans) with added nduja and a sprinkle of parmesan.
Dollowed by a cup of tea with almond milk and sweetener.

That gives me a total of 1,400kcals, 19g net carbs, 80g protein, 110g fat, and 15g fibre.

I always struggle with fibre when I’m low-carbing so any tips welcome.

Thank you, I have discussed it with chat GPt and asked for a shopping list too 😆 It’s like having a very organised PA. It’s half the battle, thinking of things to eat that I struggle with.
Today I’ve had plain yoghurt with chia and flaxseeds
chicken (seasoned) with flat leaf salad and olive oil and balsamic vinegar and some chopped walnuts and for dinner, baked salmon with cauliflower mash, broccoli and asparagus. Not required any snacks which is a miracle for me!
I’m keeping my regular cups of tea with milk, I would be too sad to lose that. I forgot to weigh myself today, will try and remember tomorrow (don’t have any scales at home).

That looks delicious. My bag of yellow stickered cauliflower wasn’t the most appealing!

I often given ChatGPT photos of nutritional information of things too. Handy if you’re out and about and want to grab someone pre-packaged as it’ll tell you about any hidden problems you may not know are there.

Yum food rusty and fatigued

For dinner I has some random bits and bobs - red pepper and butternut squash roasted with salmon and added the rest of the cauliflower rice. As a snack I had some m&s crackers made from seeds with a scrape of peanut butter. I am still hungry though!

calories 1382 protein 126 net carbs, 34.1, fibre 15.7 not including an almond milk decaf coffee I am about to have and haven’t logged yet!

well done on day 1

Following and hoping to learn more..started intermittent fasting and low carbon today..got a dress to get into on 11th and its tight around the tum...
Haven't weighed myself but think I'm around 71kg, 5'7".
Had natural yoghurt with blueberries and walnuts and 2 glasses water for breakfast, a latte late morning, steak and salad with bit if mayo for tea. Few more glasses water. Eating between 11am and 7pm, as often as poss. Is almond milk better than cows ? Thanks and good luck all :)

Cows milk (and oat milk, for that matter) are relatively high in carbs. For 100ml of cows milk, there’s about 5g of carbs (oat is a bit higher) whereas unsweetened almond milk is about 0.5g carbs. Almond milk is lower in calories too.

While cows milk is obviously very healthy and a fantastic source of calcium and vitamin B12, the lactose is basically sugar so not very keto-friendly.

That said, almond milk has almost no protein whereas cows milk does.

If you take a splash of milk in your coffee, the difference is pretty negligible (especially if you use semi-skimmed/skimmed cows milk) but for someone who likes things like cappuccinos etc. and would have a few each day, it adds up.

For me, I generally make maybe two almond milk flat whites a day which comes to about 50 kcals, maybe 1g of protein, but a very small amount (<1g) of carbs, whereas two flat whites made with semi-skimmed cows milk would have about 100 kcals, 10g protein, but about 14g of carbs. For me, I try to stick to under ~20g carbs a day so prefer not to use that on food and not drink. For me, adding about 13g of carbs in exchange for c. 9g of protein isn’t worth it.
Admittedly, I am quite strict.

Of course, a lot of people on a diet like this eat a lot of full fat Greek yogurt so there’s the “isn’t that basically milk” argument but Greek yogurt is strained (a lot of the whey is removed so lactose is taken out) so you have a more protein-dense food that’s lower carbs (because lactose/sugar is removed), and protein is high. Plus Greek yogurt is also great source of calcium and B12 too.

Your soup sounds lovely but I’m jealous of your ability to eat it without bread. For me, soup is basically an excuse to eat bread 🤣

Tuesday.

Not a great day. I’m traveling for work and my day was manic. Didn’t get to pee from 6am until 5pm let alone have nice food 😭

Breakfast: two coffees with almond milk and sweetener.

Lunch: 200g Greek yogurt with chia seeds. A (quite warm 🤮) Babybel.

Dinner: this is where things improved. Photo not great as the Deliveroo rider seemed to do his best to upend it as much as possible but it’s a salad with-
Chicken (double portion)
Kale
Cos lettuce
Charred broccoli
Cucumber
Miso mushrooms
Pickled chili
A little bit of hummus (in lieu of a dressing)
Olive and pepper salsa

A bit harder to calculate the total macros because the salad wasn’t pre-packed/labelled so this is an estimate. I wasn’t able to finish the salad so I’m confident I’m underestimating the total rather than over.
Macros for today-
1,100kcals
90g protein
65g fat
Carbs- 19g
Fibre- 9g

So while it was a good day in terms of dieting for weight loss and calorie restriction, it wasn’t great in terms of balance and sustainable nutrition.

The keto headache has kicked in and I’m a bit wrung-out after a stressful day.

Anyone want to join me on a two week hard-keto restart from June 29th?

My GP told me to try and stay under 10g of carbs per day 😱 been at it about 3 weeks, lost 9lbs. Not sure if that's good or not. Bought keto sticks, I'm in ketosis
Today I have eaten the following:

Bacon/avocado/tomato/iceberg brunch thing
Salmon/Italian salad bag from lidl/tomato thing
Coffee with double cream

No idea how many carbs that boils down to.

I will snack on Brazil nuts or hard boiled eggs if I feel peckish. But that doesn't happen often. My appetite has shrunk.

QforCucumber · 30/06/2026 21:54

Ah well done - I always do so well when I keto but then seem to fall off in an epic manner! We have 17 days until a week away. Wonder if I can maybe just see how I go from now until then. (Starting Thursday though as we’ve got the pizza oven out for tomorrow’s tea and I’ve made non keto friendly Neapolitan bases hah!)

IAmTheBloodyGrandma · 30/06/2026 21:55

I don't have a sweet tooth, so not seeking sweetness. My downfall is crisps and pasta. I could eat pasta all day long!
