⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️ Weight Loss, Wellbeing & Motivation Thread To Support Healthy Habits.

Following on from ⭐️LOSE IT! Active April 2026⭐️

I blinked and missed April 🙃. Apologies for my absence; the month passed by so quickly! I’m feeling a little bit more human and absolutely doing my best to move more and eat well.

Jumping into May LOSE IT! - To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a trim body) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable) that’s based on several sensible principles including:-

  1. Eat a variety of real whole foods such as fresh vegetables, salad, berries, beans, nuts, eggs, lean meat, good fats etc.
  2. Reduce sugars, simple carbs, alcohol and UPFs.
  3. Plan your meals & log your intake. Also be mindful of portion control.
  4. Intermittent fasting - research suggests (Zoe study) that adhering to an eating window of 10 hours can have a positive effect on health, wellbeing and weight loss. I personally have a eating window of approximately 7hrs - 12:00 - 19:00.
  5. Stay hydrated! 💧
  6. Move as much as able. Particularly strength based exercise. Muscle keeps you strong as well as revs up your metabolism.
  7. Get the fibre in! Great for your gut biome as well as 💩
  8. SLEEP! Good sleep hygiene and a regularly sleep routine can be beneficial to weight loss. I’m always more hungry following poor sleep.
  9. Be mindful about your own mental wellbeing and try not to eat your feelings. We’ve all been there!
  10. Be kind to yourself! ❤️ One or two slip ups won’t undo all your previous efforts. Just check-in with yourself, reinforce your good intentions and carry on.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone.
After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 3lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Any recipes/workouts that have worked for you, you’d like to share?

I hope the hot weather puts people off their off their food!

OrangeJellySnakes · 22/05/2026 12:21

MFP tells me that when I eat breakfast in the morning, I eat fewer bad snacks in the evening so I made myself a breakfast this morning and we will see if they are right and I can manage to stick to the plan!

B: cinammon and raisin thin bagel with strawberries

L: falafel salad with no dressing and a lemon iced tea

D: chicken balti (take away curry from m and s) with the Indian starter snack selection

OrangeJellySnakes · 22/05/2026 12:22

Hope those going on holiday have a lovely time!

BreakingBroken · 22/05/2026 19:24

Very rare for me, but yesterday hit my protein and fiber goals.
3000 steps just packing the trailer. Protein shake made and ready.

BreakingBroken · 23/05/2026 05:28

@OrangeJellySnakes despite 6 hours driving I still managed 14,000 steps.
with B:210 calories, L:170
the lack of willpower for 3 slices of pizza wasn’t a day of disappointment.
My eldest greeted us at the site with pizza and beverages.,

LumpySpaceCow · 23/05/2026 08:26

Good morning!

Am I too late to join? I really need some support/motivation/accountability!

After losing a significant amount of weight 6 years ago and being in the best shape of my life, I have slowly put weight back on (still 4 stone from my heaviest which is positive!). I feel really annoyed at myself and I think this affects my mindset!

I just don't know where to start again to get motivated! Do I calorie count, intermittent fast - I start something then give up!

My diet is low on UPFs - although I do love my instant coffee and alcohol at the weekend (wine...I'm going to have to give that up aren't I!?)

Thanks for reading so far and appreciate any advice/motivational comments to get me going!!! I want to be a healthy weight by my 40th next year (which means losing at least 12kg...although I would love to get back to my lowest of 64kg which would be a loss of 16kg!!!).

biscuitcat · 23/05/2026 19:12

Never too late @LumpySpaceCow! Welcome - it’s a lovely group 💜 wine-wise, I definitely find that it doesn’t help me with weight loss, but I’ll have a glass or two a week as I don’t want to give it up and that feels like a good balance. To be fair, I have small children so even without considering weight loss too much wine makes the next day unpleasant!

I hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine. On holiday now and I’m not especially watching what I’m eating so I’m not anticipating coming home having miraculously dropped half a stone (would that it were), but not going totally mad so I hope that any damage done will be manageable. The food we are eating is delicious so it will also be worth it!

LemonDrizzle23 · 23/05/2026 21:35

Well i had a slightly odd non-scale victory today whilst buying a new mattress.
According to their weight limits, the last time we bought a new mattress I was technically a “heavier” sleeper and should have bought a firmer mattress to compensate. This time round, apparently I’m now a “regular” sleeper weight. So thats a step in the right direction!

Have a wonderful time biscuit, sounds like a perfect holiday!

Pasta4Dinner · 24/05/2026 16:35

Had a bit of an easy weekend including some wine. Had a big dinner last night and did some PBs in the gym with weights.
Been 80.1kg last 2 days, not thrilled but when it’s so hot there’s not much you can do is there.

OrangeJellySnakes · 24/05/2026 17:10

Have a lovely holiday @biscuitcat

I have done a lot of food prep today as I have the family coming round for a bbq tomorrow

have marinated some chicken for kebabs, chopped up some veg for the veg kebabs, made a meringue for a pavlova and made a chocolate mousse. My daughter is bringing a big salad and I’m cooking sausages, burgers and fresh tuna and corn on the cob and jacket potatoes in the coals with everything else.

im hoping to just eat fruit for pudding and avoid both the pavlova (have kept the fruit separate till tomorrow) and the mousse and eat the chicken and salad for the main! It’s really the bread rolls and buns that add all the calories I think (and the cream in the puddings 😂).

I have a cholesterol check on Tuesday (I have super high cholesterol and am on a different statin) so not sure what it’s going to look like. Am trying to cut down saturated fat but I know I could do better!

OrangeJellySnakes · 24/05/2026 17:17

@BreakingBroken not sure how you managed all those steps with all the driving - that is super impressive!

OrangeJellySnakes · 24/05/2026 17:18

@Pasta4Dinneri think weight stays high a bit when it’s hot as you’re drinking so much fluid

BreakingBroken · 24/05/2026 17:26

@orange 3000 just prepping the trailer, we stopped 3 times to walk the dogs, then once here I focused on the steps. Impressive was yesterday’s 19,675! I struggled with meal choices especially in restaurants. But breakfast and lunches carefully thought out. We head home Monday am. Getting my water in is a challenge.

Damn, I was hoping I’d lose some in sweaty mess water weight 😂

TheWayTheLightFalls · 25/05/2026 08:31

Morning! Bank holiday OMAD here. Hope the heat kills my appetite.

Fellsbells · 25/05/2026 09:35

Morning everyone
welcome @LumpySpaceCow good luck you can definitely do it again if you’ve done it before.

I’m trying hard. My period has finally started and the need to constantly eat has finally gone. I’m hoping I’ve found the sweet spot where I’m in a calorie deficit big enough to lose weight, but not too low that it triggers a binge after 4 days as I’m starving.

moondip · 25/05/2026 12:02

Hi everyone, hope you’re enjoying the sun if you’re a fan of the heat or managing to stay cool if not.

My current struggle is getting back to calorie-counting properly in NutraCheck. I was so good with it from January up until about 2 weeks ago where I think I just had a run of meals/snacks that I couldn’t find in their database or couldn’t work out the calories for myself, and that’s just ended up with me being really slack with it - even when I’m eating stuff I could easily log in there 🤷‍♀️ Not great because it’s been one of the most helpful things for my weight loss since Jan. Anyway, I’ll try and press reset on that soon…

BreakingBroken · 25/05/2026 14:11

I’ve not bothered logging while away; no food scale and the one measuring cup is being used for dog food.
Currently cursing why some walking data from 2010 is screwing up my stats. I’ll need help sorting this out.
Yesterday was another 19,000+ day.
Foods been fine, not one coffee shop stop. I’m looking forward to checking my weight.

OrangeJellySnakes · 25/05/2026 19:23

My period arrived - I knew it was on its way though for the first time in my life, my cycle is not regular but my boobs were sore about 10 days ago and that’s always a sign. Every month I hope it’s my last one and it never is 😂.

Bbq went well though why I thought it was a good idea to be cooking next to a baking coal fire on the hottest day of the year I don’t know. I did succumb to the chocolate mousse and some of the homemade ice cream but
no sausages or burgers or bread rolls etc.

back on diet properly tomorrow - need to be aiming for saturated fat to be less than 10g a day and have been way off the last week or so.

@moondipI use MyFitnessPal and I take pictures of my meals (sometimes it is miles off but sometimes it’s pretty good!). I don’t think if it’s available with the free version though which is a shame.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 25/05/2026 22:47

Done! Two small meals but fgs:

32 degree weather
work
bank holiday
kids at home
on my period

I am bloody delighted with myself. Will try yo finay get batteries into scales tmrw.

LemonDrizzle23 · 26/05/2026 07:19

It’s going to be 33C here today! It’s so hot at bedtime, none of us have been sleeping well. We have been to two days of bbqs - one was a particularly lavish one for a family birthday. So today is going to be light, as my stomach is now complaining.

We’re going to run a load of errands this morning while it’s still relatively cool, and then I think an afternoon in and out of the sprinklers is in order.

BreakingBroken · 26/05/2026 16:35

home, despite the walking and super careful food choices my weight is only down .1lb....
and the biometric data; 10 days lost. i have moments when i want to scream due to the lack of integration between my withings/apple fitness/apple health apps, and i know it's all to do with my settings.
B: cottage cheese, fruit salad (mix of orange, grapefruit, apple, and cantaloupe) a few chia seeds and pumpkin seeds 185 calories (31% of my protein requirement).
