⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️ Weight Loss, Wellbeing & Motivation Thread To Support Healthy Habits.

Following on from ⭐️LOSE IT! Active April 2026⭐️

I blinked and missed April 🙃. Apologies for my absence; the month passed by so quickly! I’m feeling a little bit more human and absolutely doing my best to move more and eat well.

Jumping into May LOSE IT! - To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a trim body) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable) that’s based on several sensible principles including:-

  1. Eat a variety of real whole foods such as fresh vegetables, salad, berries, beans, nuts, eggs, lean meat, good fats etc.
  2. Reduce sugars, simple carbs, alcohol and UPFs.
  3. Plan your meals & log your intake. Also be mindful of portion control.
  4. Intermittent fasting - research suggests (Zoe study) that adhering to an eating window of 10 hours can have a positive effect on health, wellbeing and weight loss. I personally have a eating window of approximately 7hrs - 12:00 - 19:00.
  5. Stay hydrated! 💧
  6. Move as much as able. Particularly strength based exercise. Muscle keeps you strong as well as revs up your metabolism.
  7. Get the fibre in! Great for your gut biome as well as 💩
  8. SLEEP! Good sleep hygiene and a regularly sleep routine can be beneficial to weight loss. I’m always more hungry following poor sleep.
  9. Be mindful about your own mental wellbeing and try not to eat your feelings. We’ve all been there!
  10. Be kind to yourself! ❤️ One or two slip ups won’t undo all your previous efforts. Just check-in with yourself, reinforce your good intentions and carry on.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone.
After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 3lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Any recipes/workouts that have worked for you, you’d like to share?

Welcome @SnowFrogJelly and @OrangeJellySnakes good luck with your weight loss.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 18/05/2026 09:12

Morning! Signing in for OMAD. Found last week tough so upping the protein with beans and eggs here today, let’s see how it goes.

moondip · 18/05/2026 10:32

Welcome @OrangeJellySnakes & @Meetmeunderthemoonlight 💕

Hope your DS’s hospital appointment goes ok @LemonDrizzle23 🙏 I’m also on my period and feeling bloated 🎈

TheWayTheLightFalls · Yesterday 06:35

Scales out of battery this morning, bah. Yesterday was fine here - eggs scrambled with cheese, a sort of baked beans with turmeric and cumin effort, two slices of toast, a lot of coffee, two biscuits.

FridayNighFeeling · Yesterday 08:20

Oh that's a good excuse @TheWayTheLightFalls Wink I might use that!

Bipped up 2 lbs from Friday to Monday, one of those have come off. Just so irritating.

Good luck all the WoWers. Check in with you tomorrow.

JustOneMoreMargarita · Yesterday 09:56

Morning!

still just about sticking to my plan here. I really felt the effects of increasing my exercise last week but I know I’ll feel the benefits in the long run. I do want to be strong… even if it makes me ache in the meantime.

So another week of calorie tracking, 15K steps, 3 x weights, 3 x runs. I’ve got this (I think)

LemonDrizzle23 · Yesterday 10:06

@moondipthank you. DS has a couple of severe allergies and it was his annual testing. Still allergic unfortunately!

Weight is fluctuating wildly - I’m blaming hormones. No idea what WOW will bring. And it’s still raining daily here at the moment! Have not been getting my steps in.

FridayNighFeeling · Yesterday 13:10

Not fun on two counts @LemonDrizzle23 ... baking one for DH's birthday this weekend at his request Grin

Sound very motivated @JustOneMoreMargarita

So I’ve been trying to get below 80kg all year and I’ve been 79.9kg a few times.
Today I am 79.6kg, my next happy scale is 79.5kg.
I should be pleased but our cat has gone missing so I’ve spent 2 days crying and not eating properly anyway.

Meetmeunderthemoonlight · Yesterday 14:17

Thank you all for the warm welcome. @Pasta4Dinner oh I am so sorry to read about your cat. Sending you unmumsnetty hugs Flowers hopefully your cat will stroll back home soon wondering what all the fuss is about.

Not sure how my first WOW is going to go it's been a bit hit and miss this week.

Rosetime · Yesterday 16:17

@Pasta4Dinner , sorry to hear about your cat. Hopefully, she's back very soon.

@namechangefor2mins , welcome. This is a lovely supportive group. I trust you will like it here.

@FridayNighFeeling , wishing you a good WoW, that 1lb still left from yesterday would be gone.

Pasta4Dinner · Yesterday 16:58

He’s back! I’ve just told him off as I missed a gym class and leg day because of him.

Typical cat 🤣🐈‍⬛️ so glad he's back home safe and sound.

moondip · Yesterday 17:06

What a relief @Pasta4Dinner 🐱

My terrible off-the-wagon weekend is just rolling over into the week. I’ve had too much cake today. I’m worried about WoW tomorrow tbh and trying not to feel demoralised about my weight hovering around the same weight for so long now give or take a couple of kilos.

Does anyone here have experience of trying low carb high fat while breastfeeding? I’ve seen it can lower milk supply in some cases, but I’ve also read that’s not always the case. LCHF is my default for getting through plateaus but currently still BFing.

ScarletMane · Yesterday 17:09

That's a relief @Pasta4Dinner!

Welcome@Meetmeunderthemoonlight@OrangeJellySnakes@SnowFrogJellyand @namechangefor2mins!

This group is keeping me in check and I'm feeling positive about WOW. I'm due on though so hopeing that doesn't interfere with the scales too much! 🤞

Today's meals:
Breakfast: sourdough, avo and egg
Lunch: poke bowl
Dinner: Daal, brown rice and roasted cauliflower
Drinks: ice coffee, black tea and water

Fellsbells · Yesterday 20:41

Great news about your cat @Pasta4Dinner

I’m also worried about wow. Feeling dreadful about my eating habits.

ChunkyMonkey36 · Yesterday 21:26

I’ve already decided that I’m not bothered what it says tomorrow. If it’s good news, I’ll take it as a win. If not, I’ll let myself off.

We’ve had the most horrendous week. Been up since 1:15am with my son, got told yesterday that our rental agreement is being terminated (not our fault!), full of cold.

So tbh if I have gained weight I’m just gonna suck it up and try again next week 😂

OrangeJellySnakes · Yesterday 21:34

Glad the cat is back @Pasta4Dinner

i had a
cinammon and raisin bagel thin and a homemade carrot and oat muffin (no butter) for breakfast

Egg salad for lunch

leftovers for dinner (a mix of chicken breast and veg spring rolls - a bit odd but clearing the fridge out)

im WFH tomorrow so need to watch my snacking. This is where I normally go very wrong!

OrangeJellySnakes · Yesterday 21:35

I’m also about to come on - I’m 53 fgs, I wish my periods would just do one! I always weigh a bit more now as I get bloated and my boobs get bigger so sympathies to those who also get this - there appear to be a few of us on the thread!

Rosetime · Today 06:09

@Pasta4Dinner , great news!

TheWayTheLightFalls · Today 06:29

Good news pasta!

Right, I’ve bought new batteries for the scales but somehow lost them in the car (??!) so no WoW for me. But yesterday was a breakfast + lunch day, kitchen closed by 4pm and OMAD was fine on Monday so I’m not stressing about it - just irritated because I like having the data.

Good luck Wowers!

Fellsbells · Today 06:32

Checking in for wow. I’ve got an extra 7lbs to lose that I’ve gained this spring. Some of it is hormones, but some isn’t!

Good luck everyone.

Hlglu56 · Today 06:55

Weight this week: 10st 11

start weight: 11st 7

Goal weight: 10st

I’ve lost again this week. I’ve been on track this week, eating healthy and tracking all calories. I stayed on board at the weekend which is a first for me. It helped my husband’s been away for the week so no take aways or pubs tempting me. There is a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge calling me. I think I’ll have a glass or two this weekend.

Protein definitely seems to be making a difference this time. I’ve been dieting for ages but not losing but upping the protein seems to have changed things. My exercise hasn’t been great. Work has been really busy but I’m planning to do more steps and get back to strength workouts this weekend.

biscuitcat · Today 07:18

Have been MIA again, life just taking over - between the kids and the cat I was up 8 times last night 😩 the dog wins favourite family member as he didn’t make a peep!

And I’m bloody up again this week, 1lb, and lord knows why as I should have lost based on what I ate and I don’t think I’m due my period for a week and a half or so. We’re away for half term next week so I won’t weigh in, but will be back for the end of May, whatever that shows…

I’ve decided I need to stop breastfeeding as I’m so wrung out and exhausted, and once I’ve done that I’ll think about whether I want to use WLIs for the last stone and a half or so. I’ve been struggling since the start of the year and have lost basically nothing since early April which is so demotivating. I’ve not worried too much yet as actually in terms of how I look now I don’t hate it, but I want to stop BFing anyway now - DS is 14 months and I’ve been constantly pregnant or breastfeeding since 2020 so I want my body back - and that may well coincide with just taking the jabs to help me on my way.

Sorry for the brain dump!! Hope others are feeling more successful than me xx
