Welcome to anyone who is looking to get lighter this year!

I’m mid 40s, have 2-3st to lose. Started weight loss in last 3/4 months but it’s bounced back up a bit over Christmas.

Doing some exercise, tracking calories in app, not doing WLI though check those threads with interest.

A new accountability thread here to keep in touch with people who are doing the same.

I’ll be popping in here most days to say hi and check in for support but won’t be putting detailed info about what I’ve eaten.

Weigh in - I like to weigh every day but know to average it out over a few days so don’t post daily weigh in here, just weekly ish.

It is happening this year 💪

Well done @Vinorosso74!

I weighed this morning (before I’m going away for work tomorrow, not back until Sunday) and it’s going in the right direction. 65.8kg now, -1kg since Wednesday, though I’m sure some of this was water (gain and loss).

Did my third C25k run today and walked 23000 steps yesterday; next week be about managing as well as I can being away.

Good luck everyone who is weighing in tomorrow and hope everyone is having a good week!

MikeEcho · 19/01/2026 07:14

Last week was very hectic and I am hoping things will be easier this week, Sunday weigh was dead on 11st so 1lb off last week.

HurdyGurdy19 · 19/01/2026 07:46

Weighed in this morning. Didn't get to see the number 13 in stones this week as I'd hoped, but I'm confident that I will see it next week.

September - 16st 1lb / 102.1kg / BMI 41.4
January - 14st 1lb / 89.4kg / BMI 36.3
Target - don't really have a weight target. I just want to not feel revulsion when I look in a mirror 😅

MightyGoldBear · 19/01/2026 10:40

10.13 today very pleased to see 10s on the scales. I'm doing some 18hour fasts some days as I felt like It was very slow to get down the next bit into the 10s. I may have to add in exercise if it slows up again. 😬 that will test me,I get ever so hungry adding in exercise.

Well done everyone, keep going💪💪

Size40Shoes · 19/01/2026 18:02

Down half a pound today

AreYouBrandNew · 20/01/2026 14:30

@Size40Shoes @MightyGoldBear @HurdyGurdy19 @MikeEcho @Silverblue1985 well done everyone! What a great week of losses. Keep going 💪💪

I’ve set myself a goal of ten Parkruns this year - done one already and about to go for a short run this afternoon. Weight is slowly coming down but the food noise is ridiculous. Lost three stone on MJ, put one and a bit back on (oh how I wish I was rich!) so need to put a lot more conscious effort in.

got a new running playlist though so ready to go!

AreYouBrandNew · 21/01/2026 09:27

@MyBrightPeer well done for getting into the running. Hope scales start creeping down

I managed gym yesterday for first time since I tweaked my back. Just a gentle re intro but good to start feeling a bit stronger.

Diet has been a bit more maintenance but hit deficit yesterday and feeling a bit more motivated as distractions subside.

want to keep weight loss in my top two goals for first six months of this year

possibility of going to Buck palace garden party in May - once in a lifetime. Would feel cherry on cake if my BMI was healthy for that.

OP posts:
HurdyGurdy19 · 21/01/2026 09:42

Ooohhhh @AreYouBrandNew - fingers crossed for the garden party.

And well done on managing the gym.

I did a sitting down workout targeting belly fat those morning. On the Fabulous 50s YouTube channel. Who knew exercising sitting down could work up a sweat 😅

MikeEcho · 25/01/2026 12:31

This week has been chaos for eating and exercise so I am glad to maintain at 11st.

I will try harder next week!

MyBrightPeer · 25/01/2026 14:24

Went for a 2.4 mile run this morning, I was pushing for a 5k PB but was gassed by about 2 miles. Really pleased with my pace though and that I did non stop for 30 mins. Something to build on for the next run.

Vinorosso74 · 25/01/2026 15:39

No change from last week. I did visit my parents this week for 3 days so was difficult to eat my what I want.
This week should be better for eating and exercise then it's DD's birthday next weekend.

AreYouBrandNew · 27/01/2026 08:10

a better week on this front - down a lb to 13st 4 and my back is much better so managed gym and 5k run in last couple of days

a a lot still going on in my life but trying to keep on

AreYouBrandNew · 27/01/2026 08:12

@Vinorosso74 @MikeEcho maintaining is something and I always feel like it’s a good indication to eat in the long term

@MyBrightPeer well done for getting out. Never easy in dark Jan

Had a surprise blood pressure measurement taken last week at gp and it was pretty high so I’m doing the 7 day tracking.

I knew it would be high as they were taking it - had a huge emotional burden that day and was struggling to function.

has been better since plus when I’m eating (and tracking) well makes a big difference.

trying to get my potassium and sodium down for those who like the micro nutrient details. I like the ratio dashboard on Cronometer

HurdyGurdy19 · 27/01/2026 12:54

Weighed in today. Thrilled to see I've dropped a stone number. Only just, but the psychological boost is immense 😀

SW, September 25 - 16st 11lbs / 102.1kg / BMI 41.4

CW, January 26 - 13st 13lbs / 88.4kg / BMI 35.9

Still far too high, but coming off steadily.

Good luck to everyone else weighing in this week x

AreYouBrandNew · 27/01/2026 18:18

@HurdyGurdy19 well done. I agree it’s a real mental boost to go down in the stones

Hello everyone, I've just found this thread and would love to join.

I've quite a bit to lose but am aiming for 2 stone to start with (hoping for 4 stone overall but that's just too scary a number at the moment)...

5 foot 4, CW 14st 12 (ahhhh). Interim target 12 7.

I'm using the free version of cronometer but am finding it a bit tricky, if anyone uses it can you create recipes? If not I'm going back to nutracheck.

I feel the lack of exercise is my biggest issue, I'm on my feet all day but basically just standing around or strolling, no real effort. I do no weights or gym so getting a plan together for that today!

My other issue is constant low level nausea caused by various things so I eat crackers/oatcakes/toast to try to calm that down. Any suggestions for something else I can try?

MightyGoldBear · 28/01/2026 10:46

10.11 but it's been a nearly a week at that weight I might have to add in some exercise which will make not eating more harder 🤔

AreYouBrandNew · 28/01/2026 21:36

@NeededANameChangeAnyway welcome! I use cronometer but paid version - you can create recipes or import them

on the nausea does herbal tea help eg peppermint?

OP posts:
Silverblue1985 · 29/01/2026 08:06

@HurdyGurdy19 congratulations - it’s always a massive boost!
@AreYouBrandNew Hope your blood pressure is OK and it was down to other factors at the doctor’s.
@NeededANameChangeAnyway welcome and good luck!

I am going back home and have managed at or just under maintenance while away this week. U.K. though, so it’s easier! Last week wasn’t that great, too many temptations and a constant supply of fresh cakes and other lovely things in the office. In a couple of weeks I’m away again, and it looks like another 20-ish trips before July or so, so it’s going to be difficult.

NeededANameChangeAnyway · 29/01/2026 22:26

I was going to weigh in tomorrow but my bloody period has started so putting the weigh in off for a few days otherwise I'll just be annoyed I've not lost anything.
Thanks for the welcome all!

@NeededANameChangeAnyway welcome! I use cronometer but paid version - you can create recipes or import them

I've got some ginger tea to try, the peppermint is nice but doesn't seem to make a difference to nausea.
Interesting about chronometer, thanks!

AreYouBrandNew · 30/01/2026 16:57

@NeededANameChangeAnyway good luck with the peppermint tea. I’ve been drinking it quite a lot too to help digestion etc

and let us/me know how you get on with Cronometer. I’ve found it pretty good but haven’t used other tracking apps in detail and I’m locked in now anyway - I’ve paid and got lots of my own data in there

i like that you can copy whole meals to next day as I tend to eat the same thing for a few days then switch. But you can probably do that in other apps.

photo function also pretty good. You just take a pic of your plate and it analyses the food to provide a breakdown.
