Welcome to anyone who is looking to get lighter this year!

I’m mid 40s, have 2-3st to lose. Started weight loss in last 3/4 months but it’s bounced back up a bit over Christmas.

Doing some exercise, tracking calories in app, not doing WLI though check those threads with interest.

A new accountability thread here to keep in touch with people who are doing the same.

I’ll be popping in here most days to say hi and check in for support but won’t be putting detailed info about what I’ve eaten.

Weigh in - I like to weigh every day but know to average it out over a few days so don’t post daily weigh in here, just weekly ish.

It is happening this year 💪

@NeededANameChangeAnyway good luck with the peppermint tea. I’ve been drinking it quite a lot too to help digestion etc

and let us/me know how you get on with Cronometer. I’ve found it pretty good but haven’t used other tracking apps in detail and I’m locked in now anyway - I’ve paid and got lots of my own data in there

i like that you can copy whole meals to next day as I tend to eat the same thing for a few days then switch. But you can probably do that in other apps.

photo function also pretty good. You just take a pic of your plate and it analyses the food to provide a breakdown.

Wow! The photo function sounds amazing! I'm being a cheapskate I think....... I'll have a better look at cronometer, thanks!

Weighed in today again, and another 2lbs off 😃. Still not seeing any reduction in the boobs, unfortunately, but I do appear to have a waist again.

Starting Weight, September 25 - 16st 11lbs / 102.1kg / BMI 41.4
Last Week, January 2026 - 13st 13lbs / 88.4kg / BMI 35.9
Current Weight, February 2026 - 13st 11lbs / 87.5kg / BMI 35.5

My rheumatoid arthritis has been awful for two weeks, but has calmed right down again, thank goodness, so I have gone back to exercising.

Been on the walking pad today, the vibration board( 3 x 10 minute stints) and done an hour's hula hooping. I've taken another link out of the hula hoop, so feeling quite pleased with myself. I went to the beauty salon today (eyebrows, 'tache and chin now looking acceptable) and got a lift into town, then walked to the salon, and then from the salon to my daughter's house, so clocked up 10,000 steps.

I have never been so "in the zone" as I am now and feeling very positive.

Good luck to everyone else weighing in this week x

Just picked up this High Protein 500 Calorie cookbook in a charity shop for £1 so look forward to trying some new recipes! amzn.eu/d/ehr5KkE

Have you cooked much from it yet, @NormalForNorfoIk ? What's your verdict?

I just had a look on Amazon, but baulked at the price - what a great charity shop find.

I think I need to increase protein, so I will start to search the charity shops in the hopes of stumbling on a similar bargain?

Worththeclimb22 · 02/02/2026 22:10

@HurdyGurdy19
I’m in the same boat as you, but I’m only now able to focus on the weight - cutting back on late night eating and going for short walks.
I’ve always been fit and active - I was climbing Munros a year ago and was around 12 stone - however following a horrible year living away for work I have ended up at 17 stone!!
It’s so hard to exercise when this heavy - excited to join this thread and share in the motivation! We can do it!!

Silverblue1985 · 03/02/2026 11:17

Hi All,

I’m at home this week - 65.6kg for me this morning so maintaining, which is a win. 30k steps yesterday (I’m off this week) incl an hour of ice skating. Will be sad to see the rink go in a couple of weeks.

Have looked around the hotel next week on Google Maps, and there’s a big supermarket nearby which does fresh Sushi, so I’ll have another option than the hotel restaurant, which is great.
On the downside, no idea what I’ll do for breakfast - maybe something from the supermarket as the hotel breakfast looks to mainly consist of… cakes. 🤔

Silverblue1985 · 03/02/2026 11:26

@HurdyGurdy19 Congratulations, that’s great! For me, the boobs haven’t reduced so much, more the band. I’m on a 32G now, when I started I think it was a 38H. Though they are so saggy, they probably have reduced but it doesn’t seem that way. (Always had saggy boobs, feels like they’ve been like this since they started growing - somehow they were never firm).

As for cook books, I’ve got a few protein books but not used them much. Going back to pinch of nom, bored of lunch, slimming foodie, two chubby cubs, though at least 50% of recipes are out of question for me now as they contain tomato so my cooking has got a bit boring!

NormalForNorfoIk · 04/02/2026 13:18

@HurdyGurdy19 Wow can't believe the book is so expensive! Love a charity shop rummage.

Yes I have made a handful of recipes from the Protein book and really impressed. Also using Hairy Dieters, Joe Wicks books for inspiration. I have done quite a lot of recipes from Instagram too, including Bored of Lunch as a PP mentioned.

Very much enjoying trying some different meal ideas, mixed in with some old favourites but made a little healthier. Have started adding blended cottage cheese to tomato based pasta sauces, for example, to up the protein and make it creamier.

On the weight loss front I will weigh tomorrow night, hopeful the downward trend continues. I was 68.9kg last week which was a tiny gain (+.0.2kg from previous week) but I think water retention from exercising and pre-period. Overall moving in right direction as am down from total 75.4kg in mid-October. Mindset is adopting healthy long-term habits so am happy with a gradual approach (and still enjoying the odd Ferrero Rocher!)

I'm currently a 38HH and my boob experience has been much the same as yours.

My aim is to have surgery later this year and aim for a C or D cup. Ive been saving for ages and I am really hopeful.

I also have similar cook books to you - 2CC, Slimming Foodie, Sugar Pink Food. 😋

Vinorosso74 · 08/02/2026 13:26

1lb down so now 9 stone 13. Has been a terrible week food wise as I had 4 long work days where lunch is provided (sandwiches and cake...) and snacks available-crisps, biscuits and fruit. I have walked a lot but will get back on the healthier train this week!
Lunch today was eggs, tomato and avocado.

Silverblue1985 · 08/02/2026 13:40

@HurdyGurdy19 Wow, that’s exciting re the surgery - I think I’d be too much of a chicken!
@Vinorosso74 Well done on still losing 1lbs! Good luck for next week!

I have lost 1.2kg this week - down to 64.4kg, which was my pre-Christmas weight. Off to London in a bit for an early flight tomorrow - Nando’s tonight (again) - my go-to when I’m away in the UK and there’s one nearby.

Just done my C25k run (treadmill) - hotel this time has a tiny gym, so taking my running kit in case I have energy after work on Tuesday or Wednesday.

AreYouBrandNew · 08/02/2026 21:40

Checking in after another tricky week - glad to see some losses, well done everyone!

I'm thinking of trying the weight loss jags.....I've lost and gained the same 5lbs for weeks now and feel I'm getting nowhere.....

Size40Shoes · 09/02/2026 16:37

Fluctuating between 170.3lb and 172lb for over a month now. Really frustrated. Only got 11lb to lose now fgs

HurdyGurdy19 · 10/02/2026 11:05

Feeling good today. Weighed in, and another 3lbs off this week. I can definitely feel a difference, even if I'm not really seeing it in the mirror. Today was Week 5 of the 12 week Step Into Fitness programme that the GP referred me to, and when we were doing knee lifts and lunges etc, I could lift my knees much higher than I could at the beginning.

September - 16st 1lb / 102.1kg / BMI 41.4
January - 14st 1lb / 89.4kg / BMI 36.3
Today - 13st 8lb / 86.2kg / BMI 30
Target - don't really have a weight target. But I'd like to be a size12. But being realistic, and taking age into account etc, I'd be happy with a 14.

HurdyGurdy19 · 13/02/2026 13:06

I'm too excited to keep this for my weigh-in post on Monday, so I'm going to share now ☺️

When I started this weight loss process in September, I was wearing size 24 clothes.

I got a bit upset when my husband never commented on my loss, but he said "well, you don't really wear clothes that show off your shape, so it can be hard to comment".

He was right. I'd always tried to disguise the flab under baggy clothes.

Today, I have just taken delivery of a few size 18 clothes, and the tops fit perfectly. I honestly could cry. I bought them as my motivational clothes, to slim down into. I never thought they'd fit now.

Ok, I can't breathe in the size 18 jeans 😂. But I can get them on, and do them up. Hopefully in another couple of weeks, they'll feel comfortable.

This has definitely lifted my spirits, and renewed my determination 😊

Silverblue1985 · 14/02/2026 21:19

@HurdyGurdy19 That is amazing, congratulations!🥳

Silverblue1985 · 14/02/2026 21:25

Very foodie week for me - pizza lunch on Tuesday and a “light” buffet lunch on Wednesday (read “light” as in - are there 25 or 100 people coming?) Followed by cakes, plus restaurant dinners.

Went for a swim in the London hotel pool and managed the hotel treadmill once, but just done my second run since I’ve been back. Managed 5km in under 40 minutes for the first time, including some walking.

+1kg for me, though I’m sure I have not (just) eaten enough to put on that in fat.
Off again early on Monday, then home for six nights before two weeks away, so will keep aiming to maintain at around 65kg.

HurdyGurdy19 · 17/02/2026 06:26

Weighed this morning. I had hoped for a 3lb loss, but it's "only" 2lbs down this week. But it's a loss and I'll take it over a maintain or gain any day 😊. I did get a bit lax over weighing food and being scrupulous over calorie counting, so that's a lesson learned. Eyes are always less accurate than the kitchen scales.

I've been Japanese walking on the treadmill every other day, hula hooping for an hour a day between the walking days, and on my "wobble board" (vibration board - not the powerful ones that they have in gyms) multiple times a day. I really am not sure what the wobble board is meant to do, or if it's even doing anything, but I figure it can't be doing any harm. I am full of good intentions to do the low impact aerobic circuit that I do at the leisure centre each week, at home, but all I've done so far is print and laminate the pictures showing each exercise. Will get some Blu Tac today so I can stick the pictures around the kitchen and actually do the exercises. My husband has said he will also do them - but we'll see 😉

September - 16st 1lb / 102.1kg / BMI 41.4
January - 14st 1lb / 89.4kg / BMI 36.3
Today - 13st 6lb / 85.3kg / BMI 34.6
Target - as before, I don't really have a weight target. But I'd like to be a size12. But being realistic, and taking age into account etc, I'd be happy with a 14.

I hope everyone else is doing well and seeing the result they are hoping for x

@Silverblue1985 being away from home must make it a challenge for you to eat "properly" (can't think of a better word - it's too early!) so you did well to just add 1kg. You're doing well managing to get the exercise in.

HurdyGurdy19 · 24/02/2026 16:49

Bit disappointed today, as I have gained 1lb. Not sure why, as I am 99.9% certain I've stayed within calories, and I've definitely been exercising more. But I'm not going to let it upset me too much, and just take it as a blip. I have bought some smaller sized clothes, and although I can get jeans on, and do them up - well, breathing is a bit of an issue 😂but another week or two should see it ok. The tops I bought fit perfectly though, so I'm ignoring the scales, and focusing on the fit of the clothes.

September - 16st 1lb / 102.1kg / BMI 41.4
January - 14st 1lb / 89.4kg / BMI 36.3
Today - 13st 7lb / 85.7kg / BMI 34.8
Target - Aiming for a size12. But being realistic, and taking age into account etc, I'd be happy with a 14.

Silverblue1985 · 24/02/2026 21:26

@HurdyGurdy19 Keep at it! It might be the additional exercise / inflammation or just water weight! Definitely focus on the non-scale wins!

64.8kg for me this morning, so am successfully maintaining, which is a win. (66.3kg two days ago, just shows how much it fluctuates!)

Travelling again from tomorrow, for two weeks this tine, as logistically easier. Six different hotels in six different towns, but at least not as remote this time, so a bit easier to eat elsewhere than a hotel. Not necessarily healthier though. Will take my swimming costume as hoping to go to a public pool a couple of times, and maybe sone ice skating, too. That’s the definite upside compared to the random / remote areas I stayed at so far this year.
